This is another reason that the closing of the Disney Stores in Canada is a complete kick to the gut of Canadian Disney fans; The shipping on a $40 item is $30 USD to Canada. We also can't cross the border right now to visit whatever American stores that are still standing or pick them up from border town mail boxes. Just ranting.

UK site offers a bit of a better solution **if** you are placing a bigger order. They have a flat rate of 20 pounds and although I still got customs it was just the tax on the product which I wasn't charged from the site....no brokerage fees like the US site. I have combined orders with friends to make it worth it...

But yes, working at a Disney Store when they closed one of the head honchos said they are "looking into an option for Canadians..." this was what, 6 months ago now? Very frustrating. I used to tell all of our guests to write an email to shopdisney to complain.

Well I don’t see many Canadians buying online from Disney so in reality they are losing a lot of sales. Our local store always seem to have some buying items so I don’t think they weren’t making money. I sure won’t be and I was buying a couple of Christmas gifts.

We put in an order a month back. I searched the site for a long time to be able to find something that caught my attention. Same for DW but hey we have gift cards to spend. While I wish there were better shipping options than UPS it's the brokerage fees. 2 tshirts, pair of pj bottoms, 2 coffee cups. 64 dollars brokerage...I'm not going to lie I would spend that in a heartbeat for another Potter wand. By the way as hard as I've tried only one spell has worked for me and i messed that up big time. achio charlie horse was not a good idea...

I look back at how much stuff I have purchased on a whim when in the store and now I think it was a blessing in disguise that the stores closed. If I absolutely feel I need something now, I'll use a crossborder service.

I really think it was shortsighted on Disney's part to close the stores, but it's more money in my pocket now.

I'm trying to figure out if I came out ahead ordering from ShopDisneyUK vs ShopDisneyUS.... The two items I wanted were sold out on the ShopDisneyUS website (and at the parks) regardless; but were available on the UK site. Per above, flat shipping of 20 pounds and I was charged $30 for customs/duties. (Loungefly bag and Minnie Ears - 102 pounds). In Canada it came via Canada Post. Fairly quick shipping. I got it in 2 weeks from order date.

I think we get screwed either way.

I just bought some stuff from UK. £130 + £20 shipping. Another $59 at the post office when it arrived.

Also bought a bunch of stuff from US. It would have $40 USD to ship, so I sent it to my US address with crossborderpickups. Free shipping since it was >$75, but it arrived in 2 separate shipments. Each shipment was about $10 for them to bring it across the border, $10 for them to ship it to me (I don't live in the GTA), then add on tax/duty.

I need to stop looking at their on-line merchandise.
