All you Disney veterans know what "box" I refer to...

I am packing up "the box" for our trip in 3 weeks. I have all of our non-perishable goodies, cleaning supplies and miscellaneous stuff ready to go....now what?...:confused3 ....I don't know when to ship it....I don't know which company to use....I don't know how to address it....I don't know how much it will cost...Can someone please help me?

We arrive on Friday, January 25 at Pop Century, but I don't need "the box" until we check in to OKW on Sunday, January 27. I would like it to be there on Saturday the 26th if possible. It is being shipped from Michigan, if that helps.

Hi

Go to UPS and FedEx website and you can see the transit times from your location to Orlando (you will need both zip codes). For us it is 3 business days but we are in the Southeast.

From what it sounds like you may a good canidate for Owner's Locker (a sponsor of the DIS). OL allows you to leave things at WDW and they deliver your locker to your resort when you arrive. Visit Owners Locker for more info.

Have a wonderful trip

Exactly what I was going to say. We have "the locker" and not "the box".

It's perfect for us. Wonderful service and a whole lot less hassle than having to ship "the box."

If it's feasible - consider signing up w/ FedEx.com and create an account. You can create and print put the mailing label - both going and returning. I generally add in 5 more pounds on the return trip to be safe. But doing all that online generally gives you a discount.

I have 3 FedEX/Kinkos offices + a standard FedEx office all w/in 2 miles or less of my home or work, so I usually just drop it off - preferably at the FedEx only office : but you can arrange pick up too.

If you have already pre-printed the return label then OKW can arrange the pickup for you when you leave-

And I'm seriously considering Owners Locker as well :goodvibes

From Michigan I would allow 5 days. If there's nothing perishable in the box, it won't hurt if it gets there a day or so early. They will hold it for you. I would also recommend Owner's Locker. Thank goodness my days of worrying about "the Box" are over thanks to the Locker!!:cool1:

I would send it UPS or FedEx. I usually use UPS - regular ground shipping takes 3-4 days; they won't deliver on a weekend, so the front desk can hold it for you until you check in. I've done this many times and it works great! DO NOT use USPS though - they don't deliver direct to the resort; goes to some WDW sorting office first; have reads reports on these boards of people who then waited days to get their boxes. UPS and FedEx will deliver right to the front desk of your resort.

we shipped via UPS and put our name, arrival date and confirmation number on it. i shipped out 1 week prior to our trip. ( we live in NJ). It was brought right up to our room at check in. I really liked doing it. I sent cereal, snacks, hand wipes, diapers, princess costumes, water bottle fans, light up glow sticks for the parade that I got at the dollar store, bandaids and other first aid stuff, laundry detergent, lysol, and anything else I could think of that wouldn't leak or perish. I highly recommend doing this. I really makes for easier packing.

This is exactly the stuff that is packed in my box! (Except I think I need a bigger box....) I like the concept behind Owner's Locker, but we're not DVC members and we don't make it to WDW that often. Our last trip was our honeymoon in 2002! I am glad to hear that I shouldn't use USPS since that is one of the carriers I considered. I am thinking about sending the package out on Tuesday via UPS. The website says it is guaranteed delivered by Friday. I was concerned because we don't check in until Sunday. The resort will hold the package for 2 days? That is so awesome! :worship: I LOVE Disney! Thanks for all the help!
