Hello,

I'm planning to have a few things shipped to AKL so that they are there when I arrive in a few weeks. Has anyone done this before? Any problems? The address I have for AKL is:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
2901 Osceola Parkway, Bay Lake, FL 32830
AKL Phone Number: 1-407-938-3000

Any advice/warnings appreciated!

Thanks!

People do this quite often, just put your name and arrival date on the package somewhere so they know who to hold it for..

I did this the first week of November and had the package arrive two days before we did. As dburg30 mentioned I put "hold for:" then my name and "arrival date" on it. When we got there I just mentioned that we had a package being held. The only glitch was that we wanted to go to the parks and the front desk said it would be delivered in a few minutes. We waited a half hour and it still wasn't delivered. Husband went down to the front desk and asked if it was on it's way and it was still there so he just brought it up himself and we were on our way - no big deal. But if you are in a hurry to be somewhere, you might just want to take the package yourself rather than wait for a delivery. Just our experience. It worked Very Well. I packed packing tape, shipping labels for going back home, and we shipped our stuff back home also the day before we left and they charged the amount to our room. That also worked very well. We would do all again if we ever had a chance to go back to WDW.

Can you tell me more about shipping the stuff BACK? Which method did the resort use? Did you just take the sealed box to the front desk and they took care of the rest?

I asked that my box be shipped UPS so I don't know if they will ship other ways although I think I read on these boards somewhere that they will ship FedEX also. I took the sealed box to the concierge (sp?) line which is to the right of the check in line at the front desk area when I was ready to ship my package. They weighed it and filled out the form and told me how much it would cost and asked how I would like to pay for it. I just had them charge it to my room. I tried to pick a time to mail it when I thought the concierge line wouldn't be too busy so I went down right after I walked around looking at animals with my coffee one morning which was around 6 a.m. There was no one in line. By 8:00 a.m. when we were going to mail it, right before leaving for the parks, there was a long line! So I was glad I went over when I did. Any other questions I would be happy to answer as best I can.

thanks so much, this is great to know ahead of time so that i can be prepared.

Your address is wrong. The city is not Bay Lake, it's Lake Buena Vista. The address should be as follows:

2901 Osceola Parkway
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I have a feeling that's one of those addresses that either would work. Have seen a lot of places with it listed as Bay Lake, FL, but the zip is for Lake Buena Vista..

Replied to wrong post.. :D Ignore..

A little factoid i dug up:

The principal border that divides the cities of Lake Buena Vista to the east and Bay Lake to the west is the canal called Bonnet Creek, adjacent to Bonnet Creek Parkway. Most of the attractions associated with the Walt Disney World Resort are actually located within the City of Bay Lake, including all four theme parks. Due to the fact the resort's primary mailing address is in Lake Buena Vista, it is commonly and erroneously held that the theme parks are also in Lake Buena Vista.

but when I called the resort, they told me to use "Lake Buena Vista" instead.

Lake Buena Vista is correct. The AKL resort is in Lake Buena Vista while the theme park, which is just about 1 to 2 miles away, is located in Bay Lake. As listed in my quote above, Bonnet Creek separates the two municipalities.

When I mailed my package to them I called also and got the same reply - to use Lake Buena Vista. Also, on the UPS website, only LBV showed up so I used it and had no problems even though all the guide books listed the address as Bay Lake. The package got there just fine and on-time (although I didn't have to worry about weather issues at the time, now we have 15 inches of snow with a layer of ice in the middle). Use the Lake Buena Vista address with peace of mind.

how far in advance do you need to mail a package? I'm planning on shipping a surprise down next year to my DFi (then Dh yay!) on my honeymoon and I want to make sure it will be there that day. Also someone told me you have to use ups to send to a resort, is that true?

I went onto the UPS website and entered the information the site asked for and it was able to give me a quote of cost and tell me how long it would take for the package to reach the destination so I could figure out when I need to send the box so it would arrive on the day I wanted it to arrive on. It asked for the size and weight, where I was shipping from and to and the quote for cost and how long was right on. I have since used the site to get quotes for shipping packages elsewhere several times and it has been accurate all times. The packages have arrived on the day the quote said everytime. And we have had bad weather thrown in there too. It's a very "handy dandy" tool to use. Plus you get a tracking number and you can see where the package is on any given day. I had the package arrive two days before we did and so I could see that it actually got arrived before we did (it was such a relief to know that our "unmentionables" were waiting for us :lmao: ). Hope this helps.

You just do NOT want to use the postal service. All USPS mail and packages goto a main 'mailing address' and not to the actual street addresses, no matter what. So UPS, FED-EX etc is what you want to use..
