We figure that when we leave WDW we will have more stuff than we arrived with and are thinking about shipping some of it home. It would probably be easier than trying to manage with extra luggage and packages along with a car seat for a dd who will be 18 months and a 6 yo ds. Does anyone know where on disney propert we can ship from and what service is it?

what we do everytime we go down is try to buy everything at one time ,so there are less packages being shipped and less delivery charges. any of the shops will ship things home for you. it was based on the size of what you bought if i remember right. depending on how fast you want it to get home you will be charged around the $15 area. also depending on what state you are shipping to there might not be sales tax on some idems that you ship home. you can ship from any register in disney, i think the hotel desk can also help you.

Yes, you can do it from any register. Just a note--we've shipped things home many times, especially from the Disney Days of Christmas store. Sometimes they don't wrap the ornaments very well and they break in transit. Keep your receipt and if something arrives broken, call the number that comes with the package, they'll ask for the item number from the receipt and ship you a new one ASAP. One time we had an ornament shipped home, it broke, they sent another, that one also broke (the neck was thin and the head snapped off no matter how it was wrapped), and finally they just credited our card. Disney is very good about customer service with respect to this.

You can ship things from the business office at the Coronado Springs. This way if you wanted to consolodate a bunch of purchases maybe you would save on shipping.

I'm not sure what the rates were. When we got married at disney we shipped several boxes of wedding stuff home so we wouldn't have to deal with it.
We were staying there so it wasn't a big deal bringing the
stuff over there.

I'm thinking the dolphin has a business office too which
might be able to accomadate shipping, but not sure.

Both locations have computers that you can rent if you have to check e-mail in their business locations. I mean rent, you sit in the business center and use there, not bring to room. The dolphin one has a card swipe access so you can use it later when the office is closed. Of course its swipe a credit card.

When we went last November we did A LOT of Christmas shopping and shipped it all home. We tried to buy the bulk of things at the World of Disney store because I'd heard that if you bought and shipped over $300.00 worth the shipping charges would be less then the tax charged if it was not being shipped. We couldn't find everything that we wanted at World of Disney so we bought things separately and sent them home, with shipping costing way more than the tax saved. We also sent some things back to our resort - POR. When we picked those things up DH asked if we had sent everything to the resort could it all have been sent home from there together? The store lady said "yes". What we forgot to ask was if we shipped this way would we be charged tax as well as shipping or not. If not, that would definately be the way to go. Anybody know the answer?

We shipped a big box right from the All Stars. Just ask at Guest Services and they will help you. I think all the resorts do this. Costly though. If you want to ship a bunch of stuff, go to the food court and ask them for a big box.

We also go to the gift shop at our resort on our last day and buy everything we've been looking at for the whole week! We ship this purchase home - and it is fun to open it when it comes a few weeks later! Our last shipment included a few big African masks and plates from AKL. Could you picture me lugging those babies around the airport!

We're staying at the Dolphin. I wonder if they ship. I hadn't thought to ask. By any chance, does anyone reading happen to know? If so, please let me know. It will save me the telephone call. (I think I'll forget or something)

When we stayed at the poly last year, we went to Guest Services and they found us a box, we packed up some of our clothes and shoes we wouldn't be needing and shipped them home, so we had more room for our souveneirs!! We also did this from the Hard Rock Hotel. It cost us around 12 to 15.00. Money well spent!!:sunny:

Hi Kis. We were at the Dolphin in Feb & decided to ship a big box home rather than struggle with it on the plane. We called the front desk & inquired about UPS- they said they had full UPS capabilities at shipping/receiving desk at the hotel. A bellman came up to our room and got the package. He also brought the UPS form to the room to be filled out. I provided my home address, method of shipping (UPS Ground since I wasn't in a hurry) and cc info. They provided me with a receipt & tracking #. It couldn't have been simpler. They even taped the box shut for me since I hadn't brought supplies. About 5 days after we arrived home, our pkg appeared w/everything intact and in good cond. You can get shipping quotes on the UPS website and decide what mode (air $$ or ground) you'd prefer to use. Just provide the Dolphin zipcode (32830). Have a great trip!

Reanna,

thanks for the information. that's great news. i was hoping that was the case.

You pay no sales tax if you have it sent from the store you purchased from and have it shipped directly. If you have the items sent to your room first and then you ship it then you pay both sales tax and shipping.

BTW, we had our purchases from Once Upon a Toy in DownTown Disney shipped home last November. It took over 3 weeks for the package to arrive. Just a heads up if you're expecting a quick delivery from Disney's personal shipping dept.

If your shipping purchses, the least expensive method is UPS Ground, which apparently goes by mule train because it takes forever to get there.

However, if its something you really want to be there when you get home (and you don't mind the cost) you can ship FEDex. It cost me an extra $25.00 to FEDex a giant Mickey plush because I wanted it home when I got there, but it was worth for the look on my nieces face when she got it. ;)

If you ship something directly from a store, you don't have to pay sales tax. BUT, I've also experienced it taking three weeks for the items to arrive, so be sure you're not in a hurry for it.
