Shipping packages home

On our upcoming trip my son wants to purchase a toy that we will not be able to pack in our luggage. I know that Disney will ship individual purchases home, but, can I goto the front desk and get/purchase a box that I can pack with all of our purchases so that they can all be shipped together? Thus eliminating the need to pay for an additional bag with the airlines.

Even easier, yes you will pay more.--as long as you hold onto your receipts.

You just bring down your receipts and the merchandise to the resort's gift ships and they'll pack it up, ship it, and charge you for only one shipping. I've done it numerous times, the package comes about a week after I get home and it's like reliving vacation opening it up and unwrapping everything. We even did it last year where we didn't even pick up the packages, CSR package pick-up just held it, and then when it was ready to ship it was just paperwork and paying.

You may want to consider just having Disney ship the items for you as you purchase them. If you do that, they guarantee that they will reach their destination in perfect condition. If they don't they will replace them. As long as you are shipping out of the state of Florida, you will pay no sales tax. In many cases, not paying sales tax offsets the cost of the shipping.

If you wait and take them to the front desk of the resort to ship, you will not get the sales tax benefit and you will pay premium shipping charges.

If you have a car -- and a little time -- you can hit a UPS store... that's what I always do, and I send home a fairly large box of stuff for around $30.

This is what we do, too. We try to save our purchases for toward the end of the week, and hit Mouse Gears (my favorite!) at Epcot. They have just about all the standard Disney stuff you've seen all week, and we have our purchases shipped home. We also do this at the villians store at the Studios.

I do this every year we go. I wait and make all my purchases at World of Disney. In most cases you can find everything you see in the parks there. We have them ship everything from there and we save a ton in taxes and typically it only costs us $16 to have the package shipped and we spend A LOT there. It's so worth it not to have to worry about packing everything. Yes, we spend at least an hour in that store.

1) You pay a huge penalty in price when shipped from purchased location.
2) Shipping is now a profit center at WDW.
3) They now charge shipping based upon item cost, and not weight or size.
4) Shipping from the resort is done with no markup from UPS/FEDEX pricing.
