Shipping Packages Home?

Thanks for the info. We plan to ship our purchases home on our upcoming trip. It seems much easier than packing them and hoping they don't get broken.

Wow those shipping rates are outrageous.

I guess that we will not be buying merchandise at WOD this year. That is too bad, like the other poster said, we would always save our shopping til we got to WOD and send it home.

I think that Disney will be loosing sales due to this shipping merchandise. Poor move on their part.

But it will save us $$$ this trip.

You can open your own UPS account relatively easily and inexpensively. www.ups.com. Pack your own box, get WDW to generate a label using your account number (they did so for me) and ship it home at cost.

You can do the same thing for Fed Ex with one twist, you call Fed Ex and schedule a pick up at your resort, take the package to the efront desk--they don't pick up from your room. When I was at CBR in August, the hotel did NOT have Fed Ex shippign labels. Had I known, I would have brought my own.

The shipping prices have gone up alot. They have more than tripled in most cases. Instead of there being a set fee for shipping now it is based on the value of your items. You used to be able to ship many items with one set fee as long as you were shipping them together. We just came back this past Monday and we had three items sent home. We bought one of the big figurines you see all over Disney and that cost $41.00 to send home by ground transportation. We also bought 2 pictures from the Art of Disney and the postage for air shipping was $202.00. I was told by several CM's there that the new shipping prices went into effect Oct.1 . They said that in most cases the shipping fees went up 3 to 4 times what they used to. Needless to say that Disney will be losing a lot of business if they don't change there shipping prices. They have lost our business that's for sure.

That's really too bad they raised their shipping costs. I usually have one big shipment from WOD each visit, but on our recent trip - I had room in my suitcase for everything. Thank goodness!! However, I was just thinking about things like snowglobes - something I would normally take on the plane with me - you can't do that with the new regulations - so wow it would cost an arm and a leg to ship that!
