Shipping Luggage Separately

We're heading down to WLV mid-May and were thinking of FedEx'ing our luggage down to WLV separately, as a means of minimizing/reducing our Airport time.

Now, this could be a silly idea but I've heard some vacation planners suggest this.

Has anyone done this with Disney? If so, how did it work out and was Disney okay with it.

Let us know. Thank you.

I think when get a price from fedex to ship your luggage to Florida, you will not be interested in any comments..

People on the budget board talk about shipping boxes down. They seem to use UPS or USPS rather then FedEx. They say to call the resort and get info on how to do it before you ship anything. Other then that I don't know.

My family is planning to take the train down for our next trip and want to ship stuff for ease of travel so Ifigured I would look into this sometime this Fall.

I agree. It would probably be less expensive to stop at one of the Florida malls and buy everything there than it would to ship your luggage via UPS or FedEx. :teeth: Just kidding, but I think you will be surprised at how much it costs.

Just got back from a 4 day trip to Las Vegas. Didn't think the airport procedures at either end were all that bad. Maybe you won't either.

All that said, it's best to minimize what you take. Most of us pack way too much stuff, anyway. Remember that there are free washers/dryers available in the villas - they are right in your room if you reserved a 1 or 2 bedroom.

Enjoy the trip!

My advice would be not to ship your luggage. We just flew to Orlando and back and we really didn't have any trouble at all. It did not seem like the extra security slowed anything down. I was concerned about the flight back because when we left here they weighed the bags and we had several that were at the max weight of 50lbs. When we flew home I just knew we would be over weight and have to pay, but they did not even weigh the bags at MCO. The only difference now is that once you check in you have to pull your bags over to the x-ray machine. I would say get to the airport at least 90 min before your flight.

Also, just as an example. We were at WLV for 3 days before our cruise and we figured out that our DD brought more shoes then she could ever wear so we decided to ship some home. We shipped 19lbs UPS and it was $16. You might decide to ship your luggage, but I did not find it to much of a hassle at the airport.
