Shipping Items to Resort Prior to Trip?

I've read about people shipping items to their resort prior to their trip. One that I was really interested in was shipping a case of water and such from Staples. They usually arrive the next day. Do you do this before you leave for your trip so they are there when you arrive or do you wait til you get there so you have your room number? Is there any special info I need to know before I send a shipment? We are flying and I'm definitely interested as we are trying to pack as light as possible for our September trip to WDW.

Used to ship water and then got so high:scared1: was cheaper to call the garden grocer and order it and they deliver it to bell service and once we there they bring to the room. all I did when shipped myself was put resort address onit and it went to bell service and was there when we got there.:cool1: we do this every year now and if need say kleenex or any extras just order thru green grocer may cost a little more but not as bad as sending from home:dance3:

Thinking about shipping as well from Staples or maybe somewhere else. Water, juice, cereal. I was looking at Staples and I think it is free shipping over $50. Would be interested in other's experiences.

Resorts are just like hotels and most will hold packages for you at the front desk. It's best to call them directly and get all the necessary info. (i.e. address, who it should be addressed to, where to pick it up, etc.)

What sort of things do people ship to the resort?
I could definately ship some diapers! LOL

Diapers, granola bars, snacks, water, anything you can and don't and don't want to take on plane. Let's do it!!

Granola bars are a must in my household. They love the quaker oatmeal cinnamon raisin ones. I could send a thing of wipes also.

Ok, let's do it and let's just make a list of what we want and then we can divvy up or whatever and purchase and then ship the stuff before we go. Since we are allowed to take snacks in the parks, we might as well do that kind of stuff too (that's why I mentioned granola bars - - alex loves the chewy chocolate chip ones).

I guess we can probably ship stuff like saline solution, and other toiletries that we wouldn't want to pack.

I was reading another thread about what your not so normal item is to pack and a lot of people were saying the water was really bad there. So, I ordered us some water Bobbles http://www.waterbobble.com. BUT, someone else said they order a case of water from Staples and have it shipped there. We could do that too. Staples delivers next day. Supposedly though these bobbles takes the bad taste out of the water as you drink. So, maybe we don't need the bottled water??

Shipping isn't cheap.

Where are you staying? If you ship to a Disney resort which has a convention center, then the package will go to the convention center. Each convention center has a business office which is run by an outside company, and it charges for package handling.

The fee is based on the weight of the package.
1 to 4 pounds: $3
5 to 20 pounds: $5
21 to 70 pounds: $10
over 70 pounds: $0.70 per pound.

Off the top of my head, this includes the Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club, Contemporary and Coronado Springs. I think I'm missing one.

Also, the cost of shipping isn't cheap. I shipped a 10 pound box which was 18” x 12” x 12” high. I used FedEx Express Saver (3rd business day).
Cost: $42.79. This was the cheapest FedEx without using Ground.

If you ship using the U.S. Postal Service, your package will go to a central sorting facility rather than going directly to your hotel, so you need to leave extra time.

Thanks for the info!

We are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort. Even if we paid $42 like you, I think it'd almost be worth it. I mean, it's gonna cost $25 to check the bag anyway at the airport. And I'd pay another $20 for less hassle.

I read somewhere that someone started a box and when they got low on items that they used at home but wanted to take (such as toothpaste, etc) she threw it in the box and then took that stuff or shipped that stuff. Then when they are done with it at Disney, it gets thrown away so you don't have to worry about taking it home.

I think that's a great idea and I think I'm going to do that!! I usually get a bunch of travel sized stuff anyway, but if I do have some things that I'm low on, I'm going to do that.

I think I'd use UPS or FedEx then!

4 of us flying first class, so 3 bags each free. . .wonder if a case of water per bag would be too much?

We've shipped to the Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk. I order before we leave. Our package is either brought to our room shortly after we arrive or it's sitting there when we get there. Staples is usually free shipping so I ship water from them. I order fruit, milk and sometimes snack food like peanut butter and crackers from Garden Grocer and have had great luck. They do have a $12 delivery fee, but it's worth it for the fruit which we take to the park with us every day. We bring small pkgs of cereal for the kids so that's why we order the milk.

I think we've shipped to ourselves 5 times and we have never had any trouble and have never been charged any fees from convention services or anyone else.

Hi augusta1 and scndbaswmn!

I love the idea about sending the stuff you use at home that you are running low on!
