I plan on sending a box full that I got at the dollar store...I can't see why they would be an excluded item for shipping? :confused3

Just wondering since I took mine out of the orginal package and put them into a zip lock baggie..that is all....

Good point....but I wonder if they open all boxes to check what's in them or do they scan them like luggage?

Sure they must scan them like luggage but they will be fine I am sure they are just glow sticks.....not hazardous or anything like that!!!!!

thanks so much your awesome thanks!!!!!!!

I shipped a box of 2,000 glow sticks for my January 2006 cruise. We used the original packaging though (thick cardboard tubes). The box arrived perfect with no damage, no glowstick breakage or anything.

Considering that glow-sticks are considered non-toxic and safe for kids I don't think you have to worry about hazardous materials. Some of the colors DO stain though (one daughter bit a red one when she was little and it permanently stained a green shirt).

I'm not sure if I'd trust a single ziploc, but it depends on what else is in the box. :)

Maybe I will double bag it since there is all of my Halloween treat bags in there as well...Thanks..>I have them in the plastic tubes that they came in....thanks...

What are the glow sticks for, may I ask? And 2000 of them??? For how many people? <Smile> Just curious about this....thinking of things to pack for my kids and wondering if I should pack some too!

Robin

I am not the one who packed 2000 but will tell you I am going to pack them so my kids will have them on pirate night and for Halloween party. They are cheap right now at the dollar store. They are 15 for a dollar. You can not beat that price!!!!

Do a lot of people have the glow sticks at pirate night? How about other nights at sea? Just trying to decide if it is worth it to get a few for the kids. I cannot imagine packing 2000 or even 20 or 30 for that matter. Wow! <G>

wondering the same thing! I planned on bringing some for my 2 kids for pirate night, but I am now wondering if they are being used on other nights?

they should be fine to ship but make sure you pad them....if they are hit too hard in the box they will begin to glow and not be any good for you...that is why shipping them in a hard container where they can't be smushed is a good idea.... :thumbsup2

We brought a bunch for pirate night and let my son pass them out as kids started to arrive. He was a very popular little boy that night pirate:

This is exactly what we did. We used our Castaway Club bag to hold all of them (2,000 only filled the bag halfway, so next cruise we're doubling our order). We didn't need to pack them since we shipped them out ahead of time. We found a place online and the 2,000 only cost around $100.

We cruised with extended family (16 total) and DH, DDs and I just wanted to make the trip extra special. We handed glow sticks to everyone we passed and left a bunch on tables for passersby to take. We even had servers walking around with glowsticks in their hair and asking us (sheepishly) for some. My dining room server was actually there and we had a special LED glow ring that my DDs wanted him to have (he felt like family by Pirate night). He confided that the servers don't usually get to have that much fun and the glow sticks just gave them that. It made our night seeing everyone having so much fun.

Glowing things are popular on pirate night on the deck. We also brought tons of small pirate flags and plastic gold coins for my ds6 and his cousins to hand out.
