to those of you that shipped a package to the resort ahead of time, can everyone tell me how much it cost/how much your package weighed and where you sent it to Orlando from/who did you address the package to? thanks a lot!

I ship ahead all the time.......usually the weight is between 15 and 20 lbs and from PA using FedEx ground runs between $9 and $12 depending on weight. UPS ground is a couple dollars more. You can go to the FedEx and UPS websites and get a pretty good estimate of time needed and cost if you can estimate your package weight and size. I usually estimate within $1.00 of actual cost by weighing my package on my bathroom scale after I have it packed. From PA I need to ship by early Tues. afternoon at the latest in order to guarantee receipt on a Friday......one time I got to FedEx after 5:30 p.m. and it didn't arrive on Friday, but, the following Monday (we arrived on Sunday afternoon)......every other time I shipped early in the day and it was received early Friday at the resort. I just put my home address as the shipping address and my name, guest check-in date c/o whatever resort we're staying that visit. I also use my cell phone number as a contact number and in the special instructions section I put my Reservation #. The only time I ever had a problem was at Boardwalk because all packages there go to the Convention Center package room. It was New Years Day.......the Front Desk CM's were very busy when we checked in and no one was very helpful as to where the package could be. I knew it had been received because I printed out the receipt confirmation from FedEx before we left home. I ended up tracking it down myself. Since the package room was closed (no conventions going on New Years Day) security called the Manager on Duty and they got someone to go into the package room and find my package........

We shipped a box of dry goods, from Texas, that weighed around 50 pounds (there were 6 of us :) ) to our resort via UPS. It cost around $25 for 5 day shipping.

We addressed it like this:

Guest: Your Name
c/o Disney's All Star Music Resort
1801 West Buena Vista Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Just change that out with your name and your resorts name and address. :)

Hi! First post, although I've been reading/lurking a while!

Is there a reason one wouldn't use USPS Priority vs. UPS or FedEx?

I've never shipped and was thinking of doing it for my Aug. trip.

Thanks! :)

The only reason we used UPS was because it was just more convienant for us, since the company my wife works at uses them for shipping. We just sent the box off from there.

Thanks! I just didn't know if Disney discouraged USPS over the others.

Thanks for the "WEALTH" of info.
We are driving down but we might need the room for other things LOL
Thats not too bad considering what you would be paying for it otherwise...

:)
