We will be at Poly prior to Christmas and we plan on doing our holiday shopping while we are there. I know the stores will ship seperate purchases but can we just have a big box sent with all our gifts?

Would the front desk do this? Do they have packing supplies and so forth?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

We did this last year. We went to Wallmart and got a box, although I'm sure you can get one from the front desk. We filled it and took it to guest relations and they shipped it to our home via UPS. It cost us $25.00.

we stayed at the AKL and asked for a box from the store. They had several, especially the ones the luggage came in. We packed the box full of stuff and I returned to the AKL shop and they taped it up for me. I tipped the girl that helped me and then went to the front desk. They weighed it and made the mailing label and sent it home for me. It was there when we got back after our 4 day cruise.

Yes, the Boutiki did it for me. I ordered those Mickey head ornaments-with some writing on them & had them sent to the resort. They held them there for me & then the day before we left I brought down 2 others purchases. It was sent out on Mon. (Labor Day) & it arrived perfectly on Wed.!!! I believe it was around $45 but it was worth it-nothing broke & was here the following morning!!

FYI for anybody who might be checking this thread re: other resorts. We did the same thing at ASMo on 8/30. The gift shop in the hotel supplied the box and we shipped it with the conciege/front desk via FedEx. Apparently the gift shop can ship it only via USPS, but you can ONLY include items purchased at Disney. Since Disney is the shipper (making the agreement with USPS to pick it up) that is their rule. If you ship via concierge, you can ship via Fed Ex or UPS, and then you can include anything you want (i.e., toiletries, clothing, etc.).

Thanks for all the advice for shipping packages. It will come in handy for our upcoming trip to WDW.

Can someone tell me where the closest post office is? $25-$35 would be a bit too steep for me. thanks!

Don't know, but my box, which was very large, but only included 3 pillows (12 x 12 size purchased at Disney), and our plastic cups, popcorn buckets, etc. cost me $45 to ship Fed Ex 2 day. Depends on the weight of the box, as well as the method of shipment.

Just a word of caution - whatever you ship back to yourself - Please be sure to keep a list of contents, with receipts (and a digital photo) and that the person who takes your box and enters the information has it insured for the correct amount of money.

I shipped a box home to myself via fedex from the Poly and my box never arrived. It was entered at the Poly but Fed Ex and the Poly could not find out if it had ever been picked up.

I didn't know to ask, but ultimately it is my fault for not checking this, but the front desk person had the value defaulted ( I think the default value is $100) and well, lets just say I spent a lot more than that (I bought a ton of stuff at pin traders and the Scrapbook store ) plus anything that was big and bulky that we didn't want to take with on our disney cruise and and shipped home (sneakers, dirty clothes, luau photos, all the kid light up stuff and stuffed animal, it was a 20 lb box)- anyway after 3 months of letter writing and phone calls, I was finally reimbursed (even with receipts) a whopping $100 from fed ex for over $500 worth of documented items that I had purchased and sent home.

Crazy! I'd rather make the extra stop at USPS :)

I do know that amt in box & type of shipment will make a difference in cost. My total was $45 but I could've sent it cheaper. I didn't have a lot in there but very breakable stuff-lots of wrapping!!!! It won't hurt to ask before just to get an idea of totals.

We always go to the Fedex (I think or is it kinkos). I never know the name of the streets, but it is real close to DTD. It gets home real quick and does not cost as much as mailing from Disney. I can tell you how to get there, just not the street names.:goodvibes

We mailed a box down. I packed address labels, folded the box top the other way, put on the new address lables and mailed that same box back. ASMU took it right at the front desk, taped it up and mailed it for us. I think it cost about $25.00. It was a big heavy box!

We always go over to FedEx Kinkos...it's about 5 minutes past the Crossroads plaza...we get our tracking numbers right then and can include all the cool discount items we get over at the Disney Outlet store around the corner.

We usually ship the day before we leave and it's there the day after we get home. Cost is about $25, but with what they are charging now for an extra bag on the airlines it's a much better value...and I don't have to carry it!

Bonus you may want to remember when shipping to home from one of the stores....they don't charge sales tax if you ship directly from a Disney location...that sometimes makes up for more than 1/2 the cost of shipping the product home.

I know this works with UPS Stores and I would bet that it would work with FedEx kinkos. Google "UPS Store locations" and find the nearest location to where you'll be staying. Once you click on the store it gives you an option to email the store directly. You can ask them about services, hours and rates...some will even come to the hotel and pick up either your package or the items to be packaged and ship it...it costs a bit to go this route but if you are shipping something expensive it may be worth it. I've done this a few times (not in WDW though) and it worked out very well.
