Ship to shore calling

Can anyone give me info on the best way to call the states from the ship? Do calling cards work, if so, which ones are best? Cost? I'm assuming cell phones don't work, but do they work in St. Thomas or St. Maarten?

Ship to Shore calling cost $6.95 per minute, you would probably be better off using the Internet Cafe, if that is an option for you.

We were able to get cellphone service on Castaway Cay -- it was my FIL's birthday and we would have been on the poo-poo list had we not called!
