Can I ship something ahead of time to my resort? (ex: hubby's golfclubs or DD's toys?) This way we won't have to lug so much w/us in the airport.

I guess I can call the hotel and ask, but I just thought someone here may know.

Thanks

Although I have no first hand experience with this myself---(will in December tho)!!....I have read numberous posts of people who have shipped items to their hotel prior to their arrival.
The rule of thumb seems to be to ship it to your hotel and have your name AND arrival date marked clearly on the package.
You may want to call ahead (just to make sure dh's golf clubs are kept safe)!!
I'm sure you will get much more helpful info on this board!!
Enjoy your trip!!!

I asked this question a while back and the answer is Yes. You should call your resort first just to double check and don't send the package too far in advance. You should include your reservation number and arrival date on the package. We will be doing this in September.

The answer is YES. I am going in September, and I called last week with several planning questions. Among them was this question. I was told by an extremely pleaseant person (Nicolette), at WDW that you could ship a package ahead to your hotel. She advised that it should't arrive too soon before your arrival (3 or 4 days would be OK, but not 2 weeks), and that it should clearly be marked with:

Please hold for (Insert name of Guest used for Reservation).
Arrival date is: _____-_____-_______.

It is apparantly very important that that information is on the package (Name, and arrival date), so that it can be held in the proper location, and be ready when you get there.

You should also call your hotel to get the exact mailing address of your hotel, instead of just "Walt Disney World"....I can imagine they get a bunch of mail/packages a day, and it may take quite a while to sort it all.

Good Luck

i'm staying at the poly and got my box today, inside i filled it w/styrofoam cooler,(instead of refrig.) and inside the cooler, styrofoam plates, styrofoam bowls, cheap plastic knives, forks, extra band-aids,a little first aid pack from wal-mart,wet naps, extra plastic bags for wet clothes, and a plastic ziplock full of coffee, tea, sugar packets, salt & pepper, jar of pb&j,napkins and cheap dishrags i bought at $ store, moleskin, bug and sunscreen lotion, and a travel coffee maker.I think i'm gonna throw in some cheap (lite) flip-flops for the pool. We hope to send all for just a couple bucks.I called the poly got the direct address and they said fine, send it 2 express day it's cheaper and put arrival date, and our name. :Pinkbounc

Leanne......which carrier are you using to ship...when you say you got your box...did you use UPS/FedEx???
Was hoping to be able to ship some summer clothing and other items such as you....
Thanks for your input!!!

i WAS VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT MY BOX I WENT TO MY LOCAL FOOD STORE AND THEY LET ME PICK ANY SIZE AND SHAPE I WANTED,I COULDN'T SEE PAYING FOR A BOX,I BOUGHT A BAG OF SHIPPING BUBBLES FOR $2 JUST SO NOTHING BREAKS AND I'M SENDING IT THROUGH MY "MAILBOXES ETC.."PLACE HE SHIPS ALL OVER..AND TELLS ME WHICH CARRIER IS CHEAPER..

I was playing around with the search and found this thread and wanted to confirm wha the others have said. Spoke to a really nice CM today at the GF and she said no problem with mailing the package. I asked about mailing it what should be on the package (name, arrival date, confirmation number) and she said that sounds right. I called the resort directly and didn't go through CRO because sometimes the info can be a little different. Seems alot of folks are doing this these days to save the suitcase space!

just returned and everything went ok with the package, but it took 3 days for me to get it, my fault we switched rooms 3 times at the poly, also be carefull to say it's a package you sent to yourself otherwise they think it is a purchase from the park.

I do this all the time (even when we went to Hawaii), and have done this just about every time we have gone to WDW. I have three kids, and if I tried to pack everything I needed we would need a u-haul. I encourage anyone with kids to 'ship it'. They will send the package right up to your room. Just call when you get to the room, or let the front desk know.

Be sure to pack inside that box the tape, shipping slip and such that you need to ship the item back home---like all the left over things--gifts etc. Again just go the desk to get a shipping form and then they will come up and get it.

...something funny that I witnessed during my last stay at OKW:

This fellow guest had forgotten her driver's license at home. (This was pre 9/11 and she told me that the airline let her fly by showing the credit card she used to purchase her ticket along with her frequent flyer card, because I did ask...)

Anyway, she was visiting with her two children while her husband was back at home. She had her husband FedEx her license to her. When she went to pick the FedEx up at the front desk, they needed to see identification. (You see where I'm going here, right?)

It was a lot like "Who's On First."

Guest: My license is in the package.
CM: I can't give you the package until I see your license.
Guest: I can't give you the license until I get the package.

And on and on... The CM was just doing her job and the guest took it all in good fun. They did call over a manager and had me "witness" the entire event. It was funny. We all laughed about it afterwards.

So...the point here is: Be prepared to show some photo ID before picking up your package!

Have a great day!
