Ship groceries to resort or order Amazon same day?

Which ends up being cheaper? Why do people still ship to resort when they can just do Amazon same day or get a delivery service? Wonder if I’m missing anything. Thanks

We did Amazon Fresh to the resort last time. It was nice having drinks, late night snacks and a handful of quick snacks to throw in our bag every day.

Amazon Fresh was cheapest for us. As long as you order the minimum - I think $35+? - there's not a delivery fee (except the fee if bell services accepts/stores it), and everything was priced comparably to what we're used to. Garden Grocer seems to be the worst deal - higher than usual prices for each item plus a high delivery fee. I think for awhile people were using WalMart same-day but I'm not sure how that's been since the pandemic. We didn't have any problems with our delivery: it came in the time window we expected, everything we ordered was there, and when I went to the front desk to pick it up they offered to bring it to my room for me (which they did right away). I will definitely use them again when we go in November.

We do Amazon Fresh as well. No delivery fee as long as you order at least $35. Bell services will accept and store it for free - they only charge a fee if they have to bring it to your room. We always just pick it up from bell services ourselves. We've always found delivery to be in the time frame selected and anytime we've priced out other delivery services, Amazon has worked out to be cheaper.

Yea past three times we’ve gone we’ve used Amazon prime 2 hour delivery. Is that the same as Amazon fresh? I believe all it is is a Whole Foods order but I might be wrong.
so delivering from your house is a waste, right?

Yeah I think it's the same thing. If not, it definitely works the same way. Get beverages/snacks/etc. within a window you select later that same day. We usually get a couple big jugs of water (since FL water is so gross) and a bunch of pop delivered, plus some in-room munchies for when we don't feel like going out and buying something. We used to get oatmeal and stuff but found we didn't really eat it because we'd rather just sleep until it's time to head to a park.

Pro tip: If you travel with a stroller use it to pick up your delivery.

A wheel chair also works great. A case of 24 bottles of water fits perfect on the seat. Stack a few things on top and add a bag or two to the handles.

Has anyone recently done Amazon? Are they able to deliver to the resort.

I'm not sure what you mean by "recently," but they are certainly able to deliver to the resort post-covid (we went end of last year). There haven't been any policy changes that would impact it.

Thank you! But as far as I know, we are still in the midst of Covid. No "post-covid" yet, although how I wish Covid was behind us all! 😉

The reason for my question is that I read somewhere that one of the food delivery services was not allowed to enter the resorts. If you placed an order, you had to meet outside of the resort to pick up your food. So recently would be in the last month or two? Just wanted to make sure before we place an order. Got to figure out how to do that, as well. We are Prime Members, but never heard of Amazon Fresh.

Fair enough. I suppose I should have said "since reopening", as we're very much mid-Covid.

The issue with delivery is less Covid and more about the security protocols. So Lyft/Uber drivers can come in if they have a reservation name for pick-up, but GrubHub can't for whatever reason. So most deliveries have to come to the front desk instead of coming directly to the room.

Anyone know how early you can place your order? We arrive next Sunday The 10th. I tried to look this morning at what times are available for this Sunday it shows the date but no available times while there are times available for today and tomorrow.

Thank you for clearing that up, fabfemmeboy. 😎

PixieDust&MickeyPretzels - We are also arriving on the 10th. 😃 Where are you staying? We will be at AKL. From what I have read, and for those flying, many people order just before boarding their flights. I find that risky and would rather order ahead of time. Perhaps two days ahead is the limit.

We’ll be staying at the beach club! We LOVE AKL though, the ambiance and theming is unmatched! Yeah I definitely want to order before I’m boarding the plane. I just found it weird that it listed openings for delivery today and tomorrow (which I feel like are going to be a lot busier days than Sunday)? Have a great trip!!! If you’re traveling with only 3 out of your family of 14, I have some good reservations I’m going to be dropping within the upcoming days as we finalize our plans :o

LOL, my DIS name was made up when my extended family and I were going on a cruise and we were planning pre- and post days at Universal and Disney in 2004. Seems forever ago! At that time, my daughter was a teenager. So only a family of 4 this time. :)

i always wondered about that actually. If I drop a table of 3 can a table of 4 book since it’s essentially the same table? I have a chef Mickey’s breakfast, topolinos breakfast, Space 220 lunch etc that I will likely get rid of due to plan changes. Would love to give it to someone here instead of randomly dropping it. Just trying to get one last hollywood and vine lunch to finalize everything!

Thank you for thinking of me, but we are doing this trip low key this time. My grandchildren are finicky eaters, so I do not see spending so much extra for them to see "the gang" when we will hopefully see them out and about. Plus I was reading where this breakfast experience has been modified. No table visits! We did a character breakfast years ago with our 3 children at the Contemporary resort. Mine were older and had good appetites. The characters coming over to the table and interacting made the $$ worth while.

We have plans with other family members for the day we are in Epcot.

Have a great vacation. Here's hoping that the parks will not be super crowded.
