clearly it didn't bother the kids but I couldn't help noticing that an awful lot of cm's were so unhappy

the only 'happy' people in the parks (not counting the hotel) we found were:-

guy on the turnstiles doing a rain dance / moon walk at 9:15am

guy checking fast pass at startours and using lightsabre to frisk people - very entertaining

ride checker on pirates using sword in threatening manor (steady!)

most miserable people awards - and there were a lot, so only our top 4

hotel maid who when asked if she could let us in our room as I thought we left the key inside (as it turns out I hadn't) simply shugged shoulders and walked off

concierge booking our character breakfast for the wrong day - obviously likes the english

pool attendant muttering something about it being closed

and lastly the french authorities for apparently insisting the entire npb hotel is shutdown for a powercut test (or whatever) between 1pm and 6pm last wednesday. You couldn't even get back into your room - found a note about this of all places in the lift otherwise we would not have know

I think you were definately missing some magic on your recent trip to DLRP, what with the potholes and the cast members and the smokers and the lift in the Newport.
Did you at least get a little magic?

magic - sure did

the moment our 18month girl met tigger and daisy at the plaza for breakfast made it so worth every penny. if there was one reason to go back it would be that

i think they took quite a shine to her as they kept coming back

I think thi scould have something to do with the recent pay disputes and subsequent bad feeling between CMs and management. The cleaners and reception/hotel staff (for example) are woefully underpaid, and I think the CMs in the parks get more money. I think they also scrapped the bonus/incentive scheme as I recall from the news.

We personal leave every day a five euro billet on the table for the ladies of housekeeping.
Works really as a wonder.

Asking the housekeeping staff to let you in "your” room is the eldest burglar trick in the world. Of course they don’t let you in.

:rotfl: At least you found some happy magic!

Sara. :)

I must be extremely lucky because I have never ever had a problem with CM's at DLRP. A waitress at Auberge de Cendrillon is the only one I can think of and she wasn't rude or impolite, just a little miserable - but I'm willing to allow for the fact that just maybe she was having a bad day, I always tip accordingly and to be honest a few more like her wouldn't have gone amiss, as it was we had superb service at Cafe Mickey from Kristof, the same at the Blue Lagoon and the Lucky Nugget and I can't remember those 2 lovely waitresses names and outside the park at Annettes and Rainforest Cafe.

As Sjaake has pointed out asking to be let into your room is the oldest trick in the book, but have you also thought that maybe she didn't understand you?

Housekeeping staff are dreadfully underpaid which is why we too always leave a tip and I always go to the trouble of ensuring the rooms are tidy and that dirty towels are left in a pile in the bath so they have as little to do as possible - I think it's appreciated judging by the amount of chocolate coins and Disney toiletries we come home with. ;)

We stayed at the NPB last time and I had no problems whatsoever with consierge, I had prebooked restaurants beforehand but wanted to change the arrangements for one or two so asked consierge to rearrange which he did without any fuss.

Granted we've always been at quieter times but the interaction with CM's on rides has always been brilliant especially with my kids - My DS had a lightsabre v's sword fight on POTC last time after a pirate stole my Minnie Mouse hat, we've been scared witless on PM, sang Happy Birthday to someone whilst waiting on BTM and my DS has had Happy Birthday sung to him whilst waiting on Pinnochio, my boys have gone off and pintraded with CM's - these are just some happy memories off the top of my head - I've got lots more.

I really think you were very unlucky, as you say seeing your little girl's face at the Character Breakfast made the whole thing worthwhile and as she gets older you'll have lots more special moments to enjoy and remember.(Glad you got your CB sorted BTW and I'm a little envious that you had Daisy Duck, we've never had her at a character meal) :)

Have to agree only one poor CM at Walt's but apart from that they have all been great especially with the troops :)

We've also been 4 times now and have been very impressed by the CM's, maid service and everything.

That's a shame - luckily we've never had any bad experiences, only lots of good ones! :goodvibes

We're the same - in three trips we have only experienced one miserable CM in the Lucky Nugget on our first trip and we prefer to think like Jill, in that perhaps she was having a bad day? :confused3
