As we headed to Universal Studios we marveled at the City Walk and all of it offerings of restaurants, shops, hotels, etc. This is a great place to hang out and spend some time. I think on our next trip we may carve out a few days at Disney and stay over here.

We entered the park and hit all the major rides and attractions in a systematic clockwise order around the park. We laughed like crazy at the Earthquake attraction. Being from the SF Bay Area we have ridden the BART trains this attraction is based on many, many times.

Attention Universal ride theme staff!! – BART has updated its ticket dispensers in their stations so your attraction is a bit out of date.

I really liked Shrek 4-D but thought the pre-show was a little long, especially when the cram you in the area like sardines. Twister was great. You truly get the behind the scenes feel of movie magic meeting technology. The new Mummy ride looks like it will be pretty amazing. DH and I also got a laugh out of the San Francisco Wharf area of the park. I actually found it pretty accurate and made me miss home for about 1.2 milliseconds.

Men In Black was probably the best attraction of the day. DH and I both enjoyed this ride and Guess who got the high score?? That would be me. I was woefully trailing DH until it was time to slap the red button which gave me the bonus 100,000 points!! Too bad loser!!- oops did I say that? Gosh competition of these rides can bring out the worst in some people I tell ya!!

We were getting tired and have ridden Back to the Future on several occasion sin LA so we skipped it. Our lost stop was going to be Terminator 3-D. Nothing like seeing your home states governor in a theme park attraction. Next up Mayor Bloomberg’s Stock Market Roller Coaster?

Side note – I still cannot get over this. Ah-nuld is our governor. Does the rest of the country simply look at California an laugh at the state of our politics? I will take a guess and say that 85% of the population cannot even spell Schwarzenegger. It’s just sad I tell you – and yes before you flame me, I did vote. Oh well, I digress.

When we got to Terminator 3-D we had just missed the previous showtime and couldn’t wait for the next one. So we made on last souvenir stop and headed to the designated meet spot. As we were walking to meet Mom and Dude I had a serious flashback de ja vu moment about when DH and I started dating about a million years ago. Neither of us had a driver’s license since we were only 14 and 15. We had Season Passes to the local amusement park and we would have our parents drop us off and pick us up. I almost felt like I shouldn’t hold DH’s hand for fear the “parents” would see. Gosh we sure acted stupid when we were younger…

After hopping into the car we heard all about their day at Kennedy and some warbird museum. I perked up when Dude mentioned at the museum there was a Ferrari parked out front and that he got a picture for me… See here.

Isn’t she pretty?? I love Ferrari’s. It is one of my life’s dreams to own one. I know, not at all practical but I figure if I ever make enough to own one then practicality probably won’t be too high on my list of priorities.

We headed to International Drive to check out Orlando Pointe Mall and show DH the Dan Marino restaurant, the Race Rock restaurant and bar, and the upside down house. I just get a big kick out of seeing this on the street. I think it is too cool.

We had already decided to eat at the Boston Lobster Feast restaurant. Now I know from the reviews that these are not the best quality for seafood in Orlando, but hey we are from CA so all you can eat lobster, crab, shrimp, etc. is worth checking out. It was well worth the money and will likely become a tradition on the trips. DH became very friendly with the lobster protector guy (you know the one who hovers above the lobsters and makes sure you only take 1 at a time). He saw him enough times!! I think DH ate nothing but lobster and one bowl of clam chowder. We had fun here.

To round out the day we realized we really couldn’t go a whole day without doing something Disney. So after dropping mom off at the Poly because she didn’t feel too well we headed over to the West Side of Downtown Disney to DisneyQuest. We headed straight in and went right for the virtual roller coaster. I of course, developed a stomach churning category 5 ride while DH opted for a tame experience rating his a Category 3. This attraction was made for me I just know it. I could spend all day here.

We hit pretty much everything this there is to do here and I could spend hours in the classic games section. About midway through out time here both DH and Dude turned to me and said almost in unison,

“Why didn’t you bring us here before tonight?”

Me: “Because you would have wanted to come here every night and we never would have eaten at all those wonderful restaurants you have been enjoying all week.

DH: “ Well next time make sure that Worksheet of yours has us coming here at least 2 or 3 times, OK”

Me: “Ok, fine but that just means next time we have to come for no less than 10 days, deal?”

DH: “Deal”

Women, we all know this about our husband’s and SO’s. Ask for something when they are in their element or having a blast. They will agree to just about anything. Most times they are just oblivious to the question and will agree just to get you to let them get back to what they are doing. My plan worked perfectly…

Love your trip report.
"Does the rest of the country simply look at California an laugh at the state of our politics? "
We would laugh, but that would be the pot calling the kettle black, coming from a Texan... Although I guess we did have the good sense to get Bush the heck out of Texas (at least a few days a week...)

Actually I grew up in California. If anyone would have told me I would end up in Texas I would have said, yeah and California is going to elect another actor as their Govoner...

The upside down house is really cool, what is it?

Living in Alabama does not allow me to laugh at other states politics. Being a Yankee from Ohio I have a hard time understanding how things can be the way they are here. This state taxes a family of 4 making as little as $6000 a year at a rate of 6%, if you make over $75,000 you only pay 4%. Also I don't think they realize that they lost the Civil War. But I digress.

I love the Men in Black ride too, but the best ride is Spiderman at IOA.

You are so right about men, glad your plan worked! I think you would look good driving that Ferrari, it could happen.::yes::

Hi Growin'upDisney!

Thanks for sharing. You sure had a wonderful trip. I guess I'm going to have to check out Universal one of these days.... :)

Please tell me where the upside down house is? I'd love to go by it myself...

I'm glad you went to Boston Seafood, I have promised my DD's boyfriend that we would take him there. He loves seafood. I'm glad it was worth it.

We also will be going to kennedy space center.

Great trip reports. When I read your trip reports I feel like I right there. I also would like to know the location of the upside down house. It looks way cool!

This place is called Wonderworks. HEre is the website - http://www.wonderworksonline.com/. It is right on International Drive next to the Pointe Orlando Mall and the Orange County Convention Center. Inside are virtual reality games, laser tag, magic chows, etc. Even if you go to see the "house" walk inside and check out the detail they used in the themeing. Inside the house is upside down as well.

My wife & myself just love your reports, they are so good. We can't wait to read the next chapter. The photo's are really great to look at along with the posts.

Thanks Ron from Fremont Michigan. I am from Fremont, California!! and we have the same avatar of Tigger. You and your wife must be pretty cool people!!;)
