We are a stay at home on NYE family too. I just don't know if seeing MK fireworks from the room is reason enough to keep CR. It really is the only reason I want it. :confused3

OK, it's not fireworks, but I'm so excited about CR CL Bay Lake View, that I have to post these here:

Bay Lake View:

But those club lounge photos are really zoomed, so there actually is quite a bit of parking lot in that view. I'd love NYE in the lounge, but our older boys could stay awake and I'd be OK just carrying our 5-year-old if he wasn't. (Although he was wide awake after MNSSHP!)

Too funny, Mousemommy! My husband and kids are the same way about CL. My husband is the only one willing to sacrifice Poly in January to get CL at GF. If we are going non-CL, we find the two best places to do that are BC and Poly. A nice room close to Captain Cook's or BC Marketplace does a lot to compensate.

Ziplining!!! More details, please! Were you scared? I've promised to zipline on Catalina Island next summer. I just booked our Newport Beach house rental and started planning our quick Catalina stay, thinking about specific timing and tours, etc. Then I saw the ziplining video and I'm getting scared! I know I need to do it, because it's not the same hearing about it from the boys after they get back as it would be to actually experience it. Would love to hear more!

True about the monorail. We experienced some pretty significant delays last weekend. It took 40 minutes to get from CR to MK in the morning, and we just missed the opening show as a result. And then we were stuck in the MK station with the doors closed for a really long time when going back to CR after lunch. Our boys stayed loyal to the monorail and we took it back to CR after MNSSHP, but my husband walked on his own. (Unfortunately, he took off his white rabbit hat for the walk - too bad - would have been funny!)

So that's a factor, but I always have faith that monorail service will improve. :) And I think BC/Poly is too tough a choice, so I'm just going with split stays forever!

Can't wait to hear about MVMCP! Our boys started asking for that as soon as we returned home from MNSSHP last week!

i heart, Just catching up over the past day, and really sorry to hear about your sister. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Yes - that's exactly the problem! Our boys suggested that Disney pick up the BWI club lounge and set it on top of BC - problem solved! Hmm . . . we would probably do CR CL Bay Lake View, no minivan and either BC or BWI CL. How's that for a brand new mix? :)

Just a quick plug for CR CL Bay Lake View (with thanks to KOOK for the advice!) Absolute best of both worlds. Quiet bay view on one side in your room and on your balcony and great MK view in the lounge. I have to say it was great for our family because I prefer the lake view and our boys prefer the MK view, so getting both was wonderful. Not to mention the comfy lounge and extremely friendly CMs. Perfect!

Great suggestion but CR CL is closed for refurb in January ( I think? or at least it's unavailable when I check any dates). When I told the boys that Atrium Club was not an option they began lobbying for Tower Club. :upsidedow Yeah right! Maybe when you are footing the bill little dudes!

On the BC CL thing, I read a rumor somewhere here that the lounge at the BC was going to be refurbed and made larger sometime next year. I hope that's true :cool1:

I too have a DH who is addicted to CL (and the kids too for that matter). I could go without it, but DH is lobbying hard for CL anywhere for at least part of the trip. :confused3

Mousemommy - IMO, BC CL is just ok. The lounge is very small, but they CMs and food are pretty good :thumbsup2 I do agree with you about being a NYE to remember. I don't think we'll ever go down over this time frame again so it may be my once chance to do it up. I'd hate to pass it up just because I'm being cheap and regret it later. It would make it easier if I just couldn't afford it. Then it would be a no brainer.

Zip lining was very cool. I guess the one that we did was pretty tame as compared to some experiences out there...it was only about 45 feet up in the air (which is high enough I suppose) and spanned over wooded areas, bodies of water, etc....IN THE DARK.... I would definitely do it again though. It was really hard once I climbed to the tower and had to let go...but sooooo worth it!!! ::yes::

BTW. I would love to hear your thoughts on BC CL. We really loved WL CL, but I see alot of reviews about the BC CL not being big enough, though I looked at the pics and it looks ample for me...how were the food selections? Is there enough of non-seafood items, because I'm the only one who really likes seafood in my family...

OK, good to hear about ziplining! I'll ask you for encouragement again next summer!

BC CL. Of course, BC is my very favorite resort with Poly a very close second. We've stayed CL at BC, BWI and CR. The food selection at BC is absolutely our favorite of the three. Nice to have the hard boiled eggs in the morning, they always have the caramel dip and apples in the evening, etc. I like the fridge for the drinks (BWI has buckets), and I like the setup with the kids' area in the corner and the food area entirely contained in a u-shape. The bathroom in the lounge is huge and perfect for changing if your room isn't ready and you're going down to SAB. Two CMs there are truly outstanding - Neil and Brett. Brett was promoted and is no longer there, but I still hear great things about Neil. On the other hand, the BC lounge has a lower ceiling and no view, so I think many compare the physical space unfavorably to other club lounges. We do prefer the CR and BWI lounge space. And the CMs at BWI and CR really made a difference in our stay - welcoming and friendly on a consistent basis. :)

First, thanks to everybody for well wishes for my sis. No real news except for that she has no bleeding on the brain, which is definitely a good thing!

That is good news.:thumbsup2

pixarmom - your BWI Cl vs BC issue has got me thinking of a change of my own! What I really want is BWI CL and a chance to take a semi chilly dip in SAB. Why can't I have that? :dance3:

Now you're talkin'! Great idea! :rotfl:

gwynne Best of luck with the last minute details. I keep hearing George from Seinfeld screaming Serenity NOW! after reading your post! :rotfl2:

Another coping option for me!! Too funny! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes - that's exactly the problem! Our boys suggested that Disney pick up the BWI club lounge and set it on top of BC - problem solved!

That would be an ideal solution, no doubt about it! We should make a suggestion. I'll bet those immaginears would get busy with this right away! :rotfl2:

It's silly (to me) that while GF is having MAJOR construction, Poly and CR CL are both closed :snooty: Phooey!!!!

Might I digress....

Wonderful CR pics :flower3:

The Tower Club is closed in January for refurb/construction...I HAD CR BLV CL booked for January, and let it go :upsidedow it was expensive :scared:

I LOVE your pics, and now I want THAT!
:rotfl:

Happy Tuesday, ladies! :goodvibes

I am hoping to start my very first dining review tonight though so that will be fun! I don't know when we will take the kids back. Soon I hope! I definitely think our next trip will be a short one though and that is going to be hard for us because we are used to having a full week!

Oh, I can't wait for your dining review. :hyper:

missoutandabout, it looks great! And I see Miss M's favorite ride, Star Tours is featured! You really are talented and creative. I always have good intentions but don't always follow through

Thank you, Sarah. She's already been mentioning Star Tours for the back-on-again January trip... :rotfl2: Wonder if we can get away with less than 5 times on it?

Oh, what fun, a trip to Ikea for one size two widget from their bin of mis. parts that weren't in the package and/or the dog/cat/kid/DH ate it. At least you have an excuse to pick-up some meatballs, potato cakes and ligonberries for dinner.

You reminded me of this:
ikea-meatball-by-lunchbreath_zps4011ba2b.jpg

(I have yet to try their meatballs; I'm not sure the particle board layer would agree with my tummy. :lmao: )

Looks good. I keep mine on the board behind the computer and use them as thumbtacks, push pins

Thank you. :goodvibes That's an excellent idea... to use 'em as pushpins! Would've been easier than my silly torn-apart picture frame! Always going for the difficult option, that's me. Ah well.:upsidedow

:grouphug: to everyone, thanks for the support. You are all amazing friends. It is just hard to realize my parents are getting older, and the roles are slowly shifting.

 How's your dad doing now? And how are you doing today, better than a couple of days ago I hope? :flower3:

I love to skim this thread and think on my next booking I won't change my mind. Well guess what headed this week for girls only F&W pop 1night then dolphin for 3nights which I didnt change but When the new discounts I decided to book feb/march at Poly and I have already changed to BC and I keep eye balling Poly. Why every trip do we do this to ourselves?
Have been many times with kids but 1st trip with BF & kids

Welcome! You've got my vote for keeping BC. :rolleyes1

Miss, I love your pin board! What a great idea! Our boys collect vinylmation - I've lost count, but their combined total is nearing 200. Yikes! Anyway, our middle son started expressing interest in pins and just bought a Run Disney one, got one in the fish extender exchange in August, etc. If he keeps this up, I'm going to suggest the pin board display!

Thank you! 200?! :faint: Do they trade their Vinylmations? We just bought our first pair (Star Wars, of course) on our last trip. The nice CM explained about the trading case behind the counter and I could see the torn look on Miss M's face at the thought of having to hand over something of hers. :lmao: Not having a sibling to share with makes the whole "give and take" thing a bit more difficult of a concept for her to grasp. :upsidedow

Missout-What a cool craft project. Bet your dd will have such fun adding pins to the board.

I fly out three weeks from today. Hope I get all my to-do lists accomplished before then.
Finally...if you hear someone in Michigan quietly muttering the serenity prayer, it might be me. Not everyone on the wedding guest list is making things easy. Shocking, I know...

Thanks re: the pin board.

Uh-oh, there's always at least one trouble maker during a wedding, isn't there? Won't you be glad to be getting away from the weather already? Almost all of the leaves are off the trees here! :crazy2:

On another note, I went ziplining this weekend - in the dark!!!! I've never done it before, and it was awesome!!! DH and I and some friends did it. So cool!!!

I'm trying to get all of my work in order since I have to go up to VT on Thursday for an overnight (work related), but always a party...lol!

An update and NO CHANGES?! :faint:

Wow! I'd love to go ziplining... how exciting! In the dark sounds a bit scary though... :scratchin No lights at all?!

I LOVE the pin board!!! I have like 4 pins total...Maybe a collage from my KTTW cards!!!

I saved my invoice from 3 nights at Pop that came in yesterday (and quickly shredded the CR one) so DH thinks we are Pop all 3 nights....I am a bad wifey

I am so jazzed!!! Bree keeps asking if I know how to get to the airport without Daddy

Thank you! You'd need more than a pin board I think -- if you combined your KTTW cards with your receipts instead of shredding them -- you could create a full-on mural!

Bad wifey? Naaaaah, not bad... 'smart' is what I'd call it! :rotfl: Oh, give Bree a thumbs up from me -- "Do you know how to get the the airport without Daddy?" -- :lmao: Hilarious!

First, thanks to everybody for well wishes for my sis. No real news except for that she has no bleeding on the brain, which is definitely a good thing!

Missoutandabout - love the pin board! Wish I had a creative side. You come up with such cute stuff! :thumbsup2

That is great news about your sis. :grouphug: Hope you get some definitive answers today. Positive thoughts your way... :goodvibes

Thanks re: the pin board. More trips are required to fill it up. :thumbsup2

I was so glacially slow with that multi-post I missed a ton of your replies. :rotfl:

Thought I'd chime in about BC-CL too. Being on the private floor is really quite nice. Though, to be honest, the food isn't really thrilling for me. But, like Pixarmom said, the CMs are great. Neil is a total gem; I hope he never leaves.

For us, I'm not sure CL is worth it money-wise. We were out so much of the time that we really didn't make use of the amenities. Hence us pushing the boat out and trying YC non-CL in January. Yeah, it's a big stretch for us -- BC to YC, isn't it? :lmao: Miss M has already complained a few times about not being able to go to the lounge -- her snack room. :rolleyes2

This is how I feel about CL. It's nice but I feel that we would have to jostle our schedule around to make good use of it. WL CL was awesome but we didn't use it as much as we should have for the money. DD8 loves her snack room too - wants those cookies BAAAAADD!!!! :rotfl2:

It costs a little under $1k to upgrade to CL...that's a lot of cookies elsewhere!!! :crazy2:

Ok, I'm joining this thread!!! Ididn't think I would ever do this! My husband and I have stayed at the Poly the past few times we have visited and have the Poly booked for next year, however, I'm contemplating trying another resort. We really, really like the Poly and the convenience of it but I kind of want to try something new, and cheaper! I am really eyeing AKL but I am really hesitant due to the "convenience" factor. We spend most of our time in MK and EPCOT. We did visit the AKL for dinner a few years ago and I like the resort. The other resort I would consider is BC. I just can't decide and I'm really afraid I'll end up regretting not staying at the Poly! HELP!!!

Do you think DH will figure out we are at the Poly when I send a pic of the girls having evening offerings...;)

Cardboard meatballs?? Yeah, I'll pass too :scared:

:welcome: to our happy place. Poly rooms are being refurbbed.Big plus for Poly! BC definitely has the edge on proximity to Epcot...Again Poly close to both MK & Epcot...AKL is awesome :goodvibes No boat or monorail, but it's like staying at an Animal habitat, quiet, and so many activities...I don't think you'd regret staying at AKL. Do you hit the prks all day, or do you travel back and forth a lot???

Oh, of course that's right about Atrium Club at CR in January. We talked with the CMs there about it last week and they thought it was odd to have both Atrium Club at CR and Poly CL down at the same time. I think one CM said something about construction beginning on January 6, but I'm not positive. The CM also said that Tower might be down for a while when they renovate California Grill.

We talked to Teena at BC, and she mentioned that there are plans to renovate the lounge at BC! Yay!

Was there any idea of a timeframe for BC CL lounge?? :scratchin

No, no details. Didn't sound like it was imminent, though!

Pas, I see you on that other thread you started! We've stayed at both WL and Poly (many times.) I really like both, but Poly wins here. :) I'm drawn to WL and GF for a Christmas season visit, but traveling with the girls, you can't beat the monorail direct to Epcot from TTC and direct to MK from GCH. Having traveled with kids to WDW on my own, that's a huge factor!

:goodvibes Thanks  since we are doing one day Epcot & one day resort hopping then MVMCP..Poly makes sense :lovestruc But WL is :worship: and the less than stellar Poly CL reviews confuse my noggin

I got spoiled because we stayed at the Polynesian for our first trip. Then we moved up to CL (bad move;) We tried split stays BC. YC, GF and WL but always finished the trip at the Polynesian.
We're going in January and trying BW Cl. Stayed in the regular room last year and loved it.
