Hi Candace  Yes, I remember those long ago days that forged a RCer sisterhood and kinship over our rollercoaster reservations at the POLY :) I am so glad I stayed and was able to experience it for myself :) I think much of the reason why I didn't adore it was because so much of our time was run, run, run......falling into bed exhausted around 1 or 2 pm.

I just wrote a long reply...and poof! I seemed to have lost half the words -- so I'll try and recap my thoughts again! ;P

As I think back...... I am very glad I tried the resort for myself. I won't say that I'll never be back-- I can see it being wonderful with perhaps a split stay for the MK area resorts then moving over to an Epcot resort to finish things up. I actually tried doing that -- moving to BWI, but they only had 1 of the nights I needed available , so staying put at the POLY made much better sense. The rooms where dark, especially my first room (the garden view room where I had the bug issue/ and broken bed (3522 Hawaii)....when we where moved to the Theme Park View room, it literally seemed like a completely different room! (3512 Hawaii) it felt much brighter being lagoon side, and we really enjoyed that room. I would pay again to have a theme park room, I think it is worth being on the lagoon side of the longhouse! I am excited to see what the room rehab brings to the resort!

The only other resort I have a inkling to try still is BWI DLX CL for that guaranteed boardwalk view. I most likely won't be back again until 2016 for my 25 wedding anniversary -- probably just with DH. Or , perhaps I'll redo my idea of visiting WDW, becasue I really enjoyed meeting up with Lacey and Deena and Gwynne....it would be so nice to do a RCer trip, with just the ladies. Perhaps I will think of looking into the Dis Diva DL trips, because DL may be more my style being that it is smaller.....

I don't know, something changed for me this trip, maybe it's the realization I won't have any more family trips :sad1: -- but whatever it was, I still love Disney, I just am left with an empty feeling -- is it PDDS?? When I think about how much work it is for a WDW trip, and how exhausted I was, it makes me rethink the whole theme park vacay....and nothing beats the first trip in 2008 when my whole family saw the world for the FIRST time!!! perhaps that's why we all love AKL so very much, it was where the magic started for all of us!

And my DS 20 is now officially needing to start his life, and I feel a bit lost regarding all that too--- he doesn't know what he wants to do or where he wants to go....there are so many changes on the horizon, it makes me feel hollow inside like i'm on the verge of tears all the time the last couple days.
I'm rambling, but I wanted you to know that the POLY is a beautiful resort -- more spread out than I like, but still very pretty. All I can say, is it's best to try it for yourself and reserve judgement for you may love it!! I know I will always love AKL, and BWI is still on my want to try list.

Miss out and about..... our favourite family meal was Teppan Edo -- as always!! loved by all!!! that's another thing I'll have to discuss later -- the ddp -- soooo much food!!!!

I hope this funk goes away soon! I really hate feeling all weepy and disoriented TTYL

Marie a smile crossed my lips as I just read what you wrote about the empty feeling and your trip to Disney without your family and how your first trip was the best. I have been going round and round the past few weeks with those same feelings and as badly as I do want to return and finally do and see all th Christmas things I am also having big time second thoughts about canceling the trip.
A trip to Disney is exhausting and that is another thing Bobs back is acting up more and more and he is still refusing to let me order an ECV for him too. I'm afraid he will poop out on me and like I told him we miss going to see Whoopie we have to pay anyhow they charge you for the full Pkg which for Tutto Italia is $69 pp :sad1:

I just think my Disney days may be over :confused3

Any way I fell behind on this tread no longer sure who is going when or where they are staying :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is well I have to go do laundry :upsidedow

Hi Rcers! Glad so many of you had such great trips recently. :cheer2:

pas130: Queen, stay strong and keep away from that GF. We had a bird's eye view from our Poly room almost 2 months ago and it was just abysmal over there. :crazy2:

I've been lurking here a bit, but mostly I am just plain DIS-ed out! :faint: I am still up in the air over late November jaunt. Currently I have POFQ, OKW and BWI all booked. :confused3 I just keep waffling... and waffling...

mickey-waffles1.jpg

My main problem is it's like packing for two totally different vacations in the same suitcase .... wedding in Chicago is fancy warmer clothes and WDW is shorts and tee shirts!!! Oh and DH and I are going to a play tonight, I really need a mani and pedi and I keep playing around with my Jan trip!!! :rotfl2:

Okay, time to prioritize! First off, mani, pedi. Second play around with January trip and go to play with DH. Finally, pack! Honestly, packing is over-rated. It only takes as long as you have! :rotfl: You must be getting super excited :cool1:, the wedding, then WDW and your grandson!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: Safe flights, have a great time at the wedding, then off to WDW!!!!

jenny, book the RO for February, you can always change/cancel the reservation...but book it while the price is so good!

pas, isn't it annoying when you have to spend money of general life needs, i.e. school pictures, glasses for kids and it drains your WDW spending pot?! :confused3 I am liking the sound of the WDW money tree :goodvibes

Janet, inexpensive airfares...time to book January!

Was able to save some money on the January trip this monring, got to love a good RO discount :goodvibes KOOK, no change in location, just a decrease in price :goodvibes

:rotfl: I don't love the January discounts...not that I didn't save money...just hate the jump in rates from wed to fri night pirate: stinkin marathon

:flower3: Sheila, I'm sorry the excitement isn't what it was when you booked...but once you are both back at BWI it will be wonderful  Miss you!!!

I know it :upsidedow Today is a YC/BWI day....I want a balcony...but it kinda defeats the purpose of wanting the monorail :scratchin

Glad you got the discount on WL!!!! Was it 35% off???? :goodvibes

I really need to do November before I can concentrate on Jan. unfortunately....but I can shave a wee bit of November..keep the snack room just switch to Epcot side....:confused3

Nice to see you ladies :grouphug:

Okay, so who changed ... and to what? *gives everyone the look* You know ... that look. ::yes::

So my flight leaves at 6:00 am tomorrow morning .... anyone think I should start packing??? :rotfl2:

Packing-schmacking. It just turned a bit chilly here. (Hubs went out for a run this morning and when he got back, he said, "I really should have looked at the temperature first before going out in shorts." It was 38 degrees. Silly man.) Just make sure you pack the warm clothes for here ... and the rest you can buy down in sunny FL, right? :thumbsup2

Wanna know what I was just doing? Looking at AKL and WL for the same nights as when we're at AoA because I haven't called to cancel yet. :rolleyes1

Do we keep the January ressie and go on our own? Or do we just go for Miss M's birthday in April? Hmmm. :scratchin We could swim in April, right? I'd just gotta keep all my appendages crossed for an April discount or we'd have to push it back until November. What to do, what to do... :upsidedow

Marie.... I just want to pass along one of these:  I hope things are looking brighter for you today. :flower3: (I'm off to look at the Teppan Edo menu now and make myself drool after yours and Jen's recommendation. :goodvibes )

So, with Disney upgrading their system yesterday, I was unable to price all day...causing a severe twitch in my nervous system... ;)

Anyway, when the system came back up last night, I checked and noticed that there was the YC GV room (non-CL) that was previously not showing and I tried calling last night to change my ressie but was on hold forever and ended up hanging up at 10 pm.

Backstory...last night, DD8 went into hysterics about how WL is the perfect place and she loves it and I let it go to book YC, yada, yada, yada...I mean the girl was in tears....kind of bratty actually....::yes::

But, what came of that was that she is really not feeling SAB at all, especially the slide. She said she is scared of it (because it is closed and dark) and she won't go on it. She agreed that if I could find a resort with an open slide like WL, she'd be open to that.

Fast forward to today and I have tried, and tried and tried to get CRO on the phone to no avail (probably a combined waiting time of almost 2 hours - while I am at work... )

I am really thinking about booking a POR - RGR. Perfect slide for DD, new resort for us, and saves us $2400...:faint:

I have been having trouble stomaching the amount of money we are spending on this trip, given what we spent in July...so if I can get an RGR, I am going to take it... am I crazy???

This is the thread for me.. Currently contemplating switching resorts... AoA suite to 2 rooms at all star sports... Saving $540.

My motivation? Being a SAHM in January :)

Good idea .... that will sure make packing easier!!! And I say go in January during the RC trip!!! That's when all the cool kids are going!!! :cool1::thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Nope. Not crazy. That is a HUGE chunk of change. Whilst SAB is a ton of fun, if the kiddos like going on the slides and she won't touch the SAB one, maybe POR would be a good fit. Our kiddo doesn't really do the slides, so for us, it's mostly just going around in the Lazy River portion of SAB, swimming around in the waterfall part of the pool, etc.

We seriously loved POR (although I can't vouch for the pool). The RGR are all kinds of cute... and all that dough you'll have saved. :worship: That's another trip almost. :rolleyes1

Weigh up the pool vs. the convenience of walking to Epcot / HS and having the Boardwalk at night... popcorn::

Hi and welcome to our chatty little corner of the Dis! :welcome: That's also a huge chunk of change you'd save.

I hope things work out for you :goodvibes

Ok, the website is back up!!!! And...availability is showing for a regular GV room at Yacht Club.....I am currently on hold to see if its available under the military discount!!! We don't NEED CL, I just booked it because it was my only way into YC...

So... did you get it?

UGH!!! What to do...

Feb adults only weekend is pricing out sooo nice....May may not present any discounts. BUT we would have to drive to Buffalo in the snow in Feb...not so fun. What to do!! The price difference is about $500. Hmmmm...

Book it while it's still available! You can always cancel it if you don't need it ::yes::

So my flight leaves at 6:00 am tomorrow morning .... anyone think I should start packing???

I used to be a huge early packer, but have turned into another procrastinator. You've still got pleeeenty of time! :rotfl2:

I hear you on the spending. Those RR look beautiful! I'd love to try it if we fit! ::yes::

So, I got 35% off for BC GV for 1/2-1/7. I'm pretty sure that will stick. It's the 12/30-1/2 that is killing me. I do not like holiday rack rates one bit. Today I'm feeling more like AOA instead the Fort. My DD1 is in LOVE with Lighting McQueen so a Cars suite would be fun. (btw, shouldn't she be into princesses? I've already done enough Cars with the 3 boys :headache:)

Oh well, gotta get back on the WDW site and try to figure this out. Happy Wednesday to all! :dance3:

So I was playing around and see that CR TPV is available for 12/30-1/6. It doesn't show available for the nights I need unless I include the whole time frame.

Am I imagining things or did I read someone here say that you can book whatever it takes to get the nights you need and then call CRO do take off the unneeded nights?

I think I'm only talking to myself :rotfl2:

Just wanted to post that I got antsy so I went ahead and booked the CR TPV and then called CRO. An awesome CM got me edited down to just 12/30 - 1/2 in about 2 seconds!

I am over-the-moon. Sure my budget is blown by a few hundred, but DH and I will actually get to see the NYE Magic Kingdom fireworks!!!!!! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Now I have the motivation to gather up DDs baby stuff and get it listed on Craigslist like I've been meaning to do for months now! Maybe I can at least make a dent in my overspending. :goodvibes

So I just had to share with my RC family what my grandson who is on the Disney CP just posted on Facebook ......

Super excited for next week! I got three days off so I can hang out with my super amazing grandparents and aunt!! I can't wait!!

Gotta love that kid!!!! Can't wait to see him!!!

Yep .... I think we are the only two on here! :rotfl2: Congrats on getting it all booked just the way you wanted! But the question is ..... will it stick? :rotfl:

So, here's the rundown....:faint:

I finally got through to CRO and had her first see if that YC GV room was actually available under discount - no-go. Oh well, had to try. :goodvibes

Then, had her price out a POR Royal Room...I had been pricing a Standard View, but all that was available was the most expensive Water View.

I had her price out a bunch of other options as well and the WL Woods View BB room was $890 more than the Royal Room Water View for the 10 nights....and we'd be at WL, and we'd have bunk beds, and we'd have the location that we want....so guess what I booked....::yes::

But, this change still saved me $1181.32. I feel good about that. It's not the $2400, but I think we can all get excited about the WL again. :hyper:
