sheila

So I checked prices....called...and hung up...a Nov/Dec trip NOT in the budget....not this year ;)

Hope today is an uneventful day....

I am SO hoping our management has more changes...most upper management is gone, as our hospital is getting bought out by a much larger system. Don't know if it's a positive change, but itcan't get much worse. I'm sure those ED nurses were happy to see you! I have a total of 28 hrs ED time scheduled for August, 12 for September....and I don't even want to go...keeping a foot in the door is all....I love my new job :thumbsup2

I'm looking at a Spring Break trip, CL of course...the kids want Contemporary so I may book today....little hope for a discount there :crazy2:

I priced out a Christmas week trip just for the sake of doing it, no hope of that happening since DMil will not go just like during Thanksgiving. If my health was better I would just go by myself as I am dreading the Holidays this year.

I wish I could go in the spring again F & G Festival is so beautiful but I am p,anning on F & W in 2013 and WL or CR maybe GF but watch me cave and book BWI again since after all it is so close to Epcot. :confused3

I am only doing costumes because of MNSSHP. I know mine wouldn't wear them on a regular park day. I don't want to spend the money on the WDW costumes so I am going to get something cheaper online. I am not 100% confident that they will wear them so going cheap! I am going to get pirate tshirts for dh and I so we can all be "dressed" for the party. I think I will get dh an eye patch too!

Is it wrong that I don't believe you won't change? LOL :goodvibes

By the way - I meant to ask before, why have you decided not to do the dining plan anymore? We love it so I am just curious if perhaps I am kidding myself!

We are going on 10/4. I priced the tix and am trying to figure out if we can forgo the hoppers based on the prices of the MNSSHP tix. But I don't know, I really want the flexibility. We could automatically get two parks on the day of the party but not sure we can go without on the other days. Might just wait and see. If we only hop once, its not really a good deal.

We LOVE the Christmas decorations. So pretty. The only thing I don't like are the wires that hold the wreaths in front of the castle. I feel like those mess up my pictures - LOL. But the castle in lights and Osbournes lights in HS and other picture opps make up for it!

We used to be big proponents of the DDP as well, we have used it on our last 3 trips. While I still believe that it can be a good value in the right setting, I no longer believe it works for us.

My DD's are really light eaters, and oldest DD is pretty picky. Plus, quite often in "real life", if we all go to a restaurant, it is not uncommon for DH and I to order a couple of appetizers and share those, instead of being forced to eat a full meal. We actually "wasted" 3 CS meals each (9 total) this time around...because we just did not feel like eating.... I think we still got our value because we had a bunch of character meals that would have cost alot out of pocket, but my girls are really ok with not doing those character meals anymore...we've done them all, and we all agree that the food is not the greatest...

So, we are going to take a shot at having no DDP, eating the way we like and seeing how we do. The only ADR's we'll likely make are Yachtsman Steakhouse (for a date night), Be Our Guest (because it's new), and Ohana (DH favorite)...we may also do a Cape May Breakfast...just because...but otherwise, eating or "snacking" like we do in normal life...I'll think we'll come out on top. :thumbsup2 Plus it will be nice not to be tied down to a million ADR's...

Hi, everybody! Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Ours has been okay just CRAZY! Anyway, I'm so excited that today is August 1st. Why? Because I can officially say that I will be in Disney next month! :cool1: Even if I have to wait to the very end of next month. :rotfl:

MM: The picture of your girls is too cute! And Congrats on booking BC! I just switched us this weekend to be there on the first two nights of our upcoming trip. So excited to give it a try!

Dani: Hang in there! You'll soon be in a very happy place!! :goodvibes

Hi RCers: I just got back from a quickie WDW trip with DH and my DB visiting from NJ. We had lotsa fun together, and added a few new tricks to our repertoire: our first times at DisneyQuest and at Fulton's at DtD (mmmm mmmm good, the lobster corn dogs were an amazing appy!). DisneyQuest was fun with lots of adult old-school video games and real pinball machines. DH got sick on the virtual reality Aladdin ride. :sad2: He tries, but is best when his feet are on terra firma. And then a quickie over to MK to do Jungle Cruise and Pirates, and then watch Wishes rounded out our night. We stayed CSR Preferred at DB's request, and he liked it. :thumbsup2 Yesterday, we did Boma breakfast (earlier than I'd like ;) ) and back to CSR for some Dig pool time. All told, just enough WDW for DB in the summer time heat. :cool2: He'll still be here in town with us til Saturday.

Two weeks from today __ :drive: __ POLY POLY POLY!

_____________

I will try to catch up here. :coffee: Apologies to those I've missed:

Jungle Cruiser: You are in my thoughts and prayers daily for good results. :goodvibes

amandaw: I am excited for your BC change! Sounds perfect. :)

WDWKOOK: Nice pic of your daughter, She is pretty. :bride:

chimo2u: We definitely need Sammy D pics when the time comes! Sounds like great fun. :thumbsup2

Missoutandabout: Gotta love a fellow RC rocker! Enjoy Lollapalooza. Black Sabbath... dream come true. And still kickin' it. Chili's and Jack White... mmm, tasty. Agreed, kids should start on rock before the sandbox. ;)

gwynne: I made 72 meatballs for my dad's 72nd birthday gift. Must've been meatball week. As for the Garden Grill, the 4 ppl booths are pretty big, and a 5-year-old wouldn't take up room. If all the 6 ppl ADRs are sold out, I'd make the 4 ppl and then keep trying.

disneydreamin247: Go with the restroom plan, and when you get home... start your new job search while you are employed. Just remember to BREEEEEAAATHE, no worries Friday and Saturday. So today is laundry and packing day... which leads to tomorrow is pedi and waxing day and then... BON VOYAGEEE Sunday!!!! :dance3:

Mousemommy1: BC sounds great! Love all your pre-, pre-RC RCs! :lmao: We actually lost a 3-day cruise several years ago. They were,'t super expensive back then but, still, it was a learning experience about cruise booking policies for us. Your girls' pires pic is cute.

padawans: Nice. 2 nights AKL CL; 3 nights WL CL; and 6 nights YC GV sounds like an interesting plan. :thumbsup2

pas130: Hi there :wave2: OMG thanks, I didn't even know there was a pg 1 trip list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sjs314: The cruise out of NY to Canada is my "dream" cruise. Being Floridian, I'd much prefer seeing non-tropical stuff. :) Thanks for the FD Dates, I've always wanted to try it... for like 2 days! Wonder if they'll let me? ;)

Pas, congrats on single digits - so happy for you!!

Dani, really hope you're hanging in there!!! Poly is just days away!

Basketlacey, great day! I love that kind of success! We also had a great day yesterday because I booked flights for all five of us - non-stop direct in January for $910 total. These days, that's very exciting.

Pixarmom: what a great list of ADR 's you snagged! Here is our line up for September

Ohana dinner
Chef mickeys dinner
Mama Melroses F! Dinner
Boma dinner
Le Cellier lunch
CRT dinner
Teppan Edo dinner
50's Prime time

Only the last one I am meehhhh about,:confused3 but hoping it will be fun. All the others I am excited about! We are only repeating two, ohana and Chef Mickeys. Ohana is for the DH and chef mickeys for the kiddos!:goodvibes

Jen, so funny you're "meh" about 50's because when I showed the boys our final line-up for October and January, our oldest said, "What about 50's?" We like it - just can't fit everything in, even with two trips coming up.

We actually changed a ton since yesterday. For example, I booked Tokyo Dining!!!!! Also replaced Yachtsman with Bluezoo and added breakfasts at Hollywood & Vine and Crystal Palace. (To compensate for the Poly CL closure during our stay and take advantage of our 5-year-old's extreme character meal enthusiasm!)

Sheila and Miss out and about: I am putting on a brave face! ;) we will see if I am able to get up in the air without chickening out, LOL! Remember I am a converted ride weenie, it took me forever to be brave enough to do TOT, RcnRC and EE! Just in FEB 2011 I got brave enough to try all Universal/IOA's goodies :) I had a teen son on a Mom n son trip who I couldn't let down ;) remember, I tolerate the bottom row on Soarin' ! This will be a true testimony to my ability to overcome fear :)

Chimo, so brave! Can't wait to hear about it!

Jenny, those sound great! :goodvibes lots of my favorites! :thumbsup2 our line up is:
Sept 28 arrival night: California Grill
Sept 29: OHANA
Sun Sept 30:MNSSHP night// QS CHH MK
Monday Oct 1: discovery Cove. Breakfast and lunch included, dinner at DTD WPE
Tue Oct 2: Teppan Edo ( my favourite Disney restaurant!!!)
Wed Oct 3: lunch at 11:40 SCI FI DINER
Dinner at KONA (first time trying here!)
THUR Oct 4 breakfast: KONA

Too bad California Grill will be closed during our January trip! Chimo, that's a great arrival night choice! (Since our October trip was a "last minute" decision, couldn't snag those great ADRs.)

Hi RCers,
Can someone advise me on an ADR question? I can get reservations for Garden Grill for 4, but when I add a 5th, (or 6th-as a test) it's a no go. We'll be 4 adults and a 5 year old. Are we out of luck? Keep looking? Would they seat us if I booked 4 and 5 showed up? Thanks bunches for any and all thoughts.:goodvibes

Pixarmom, Missout,Jenny, Chimo2u, I am enjoying reading the ADR plans, looks like some yummy trips coming up!! :dance3:

Hi Gwynne, I wouldn't chance it at Garden Grill, but I'm nervous like that. Probably not reasonable to be concerned if the +1 is a 5-year-old. I wonder if it would help if you called instead of booking online - maybe not, but worth a shot. Maybe make the ADR and keep checking back. I'm definitely not helping!!

Jungle Cruiser, keeping you in our thoughts and prayers - hoping for good news! :grouphug:

So, I'm trying to figure out what to book for the next few trips and need some help. We are going to wait about a year and then do APs again and want to get 3 trips out of them.

Option 1 -
Trip 1 - June 2013 BC CL
Trip 2 - Christmas Week 2013 - Offsite??? :crazy2: or something else cheap. Christmas week rates are :scared:
Trip 3 - June 2014 BWI Dlx CL

or

Option 2
Trip 1 - August 2013 BC CL
Trip 2 - March 2014 Poly CL
Trip 3 - August 2014 BWI Dlx CL

I heart, this is a fun question!!! I think I'd go with Option 2 because it's all CL and because I prefer vacations in August over June. Our boys have just a ton of stuff going on to keep them busy in June and the first half of July and then it tends to slow down in August. So August is a great time for us to vacation. If it's anything like that for you, August may be a good choice. Also, I've been to WDW at Christmas and really loved it - just talking with my parents about that the other night. But it's different now that: 1) I'm paying for it (that Christmas trip was at Poly when I was young and parent-funded); and 2) after many years and many resort categories, I really like on-site deluxe resorts and wouldn't want to stay in a mod or value during Christmastime. I don't mind holiday seasons based on crowd levels because the parks usually open earlier and we can enjoy those early morning hours up until lunch, bail for some swim time and return to Epcot in the evening. It's the cost that gets me. I just feel like other seasons are such a better value. Good luck with your decision!!!

Ok I just paid in full. 2 nights Akl cl. 3 nights Wl cl and 6 nights Yc GV. If I can make it through the next 6 weeks without losing my mind and upgrading my Yc gv to CL it will be a small miracle. Can I just get cancelled tommorrow pleasse. Oh yeah I got that Christmas trip coming up.:crazy2:

MM. That's how I feel about Poly. I can't stay there without the Cl any more. I don't feel that way about BC or Yc. You have to find a resort you like with a crappy Cl then there is no temptation.

Hi Padawans! Fun plans for AKL/WL/YC! I'll watch for future changes! The talk of Poly CL is tough because after nearly 30 years of Poly stays, I've finally decided to book CL and Hawaii is closed for refurb in January. But maybe it's better for me since I've not stayed CL there before. What are the odds of getting that great room in Samoa again? I think not good. A request for third floor Samoa facing volcano pool seems too specific to be granted!

Hope today is an uneventful day....

I'm looking at a Spring Break trip, CL of course...the kids want Contemporary so I may book today....little hope for a discount there :crazy2:

Hi Pas! Can't recall - have you stayed CL at CR before? Prices are crazy during spring break. But after my POFQ/YC split in April, I think my new plan is to do short visits after my parents' condo and book deluxe with arrival day at a value to offset it a bit. Let us know what you decide!

Good morning RCers! :wave2:

Well I'm off to Los Angeles on a spur of the moment trip .... just booked it this morning and leaving in a few hours! I've got laundry to do, first of the month bills to be paid and of course packing!!! :scared1: I booked a one way flight so I'm not sure exactly when I'll be back. I'll be staying at my DD's apartment with visits to my DS and almost DIL place.

DD and I both have APs so maybe a quick DL visit is in the making??? :confused3

I'll have internet and DD will be at work during the weekdays so I'll be around! :thumbsup2

:wave2:

I canceled our Wild Africa Trek and now I don't have a cool, new, extra special activity booked in honor of our anniversary.

I canceled after reading all the reports of the 'mystery illness' that has plagued many who took the tour in June and July. Since it's still an undiagnosed/unresolved medical mystery, DH and I (DD is fine with the risk:confused3) aren't quite ready to partake in a tour that would so closely 'feel' like a real trip to Africa:sick:, so I would be happy to entertain some other fun ideaspopcorn::

Also, I've never been to one of the WDW spas, I've only had massages at WL, which, by the way were wonderful, so I have no complaints about doing them there.

Should I do the massage at WL or should I schlep my tired body over to SSR for the enhanced spa experience? I know Deena loves it over there, but I'm not sure what to do. I guess I could do some Treehouse recon if I went over there? Would there be something DD13 could do at the spa, too? Does the spa van only pick-up GF guests? Can I take a boat over to POFQ from SSR for some beignets? (I want the full spa experience!)

The Beach Club will be nice. Unfortunately, I have created a monster in that my DH had set a budget for April, which did not include deluxe resorts. Well, after he stayed at WL, he decided that we would try to stay deluxe from here on out... So, needless to say, the budget changed. Luckily, this April trip is still coming out to be about $2k less than the one we just did, and will be even less if better discounts come out.

The POR RGR's still call out to the frugal side of me. $1800 for the 8 nights...but I want everyone to be happy. So, Beach Club it is. :thumbsup2

After staying at Poly during our last WDW trip (the DD conception trip) ;-) I didn't think a mod could live up to the memory of a deluxe. That's why I upgraded to BC. I think we're really going to like it there!

Never stayed at CR, honestly, I was pushing for Poly, but for today....CR CL...haven't pulled the trigger yet. Saving $$$$ for next week :goodvibes

How about a fireworks cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't help on the spa, but I bet there's a package suitable for your DD....sounds nice!!!

OKW, I know I'm not amanda...:upsidedow

Thanks for all the good parasailing wishes!!! I sure hope I don't chicken out, pretty hard to now since I've bought a tandem ride for my BFF and I!! luckily she's pretty light, so we will JUST make the weight requirement by about 10 lbs ( you can only have 330 lbs in the chute). I am scared, wont lie....but it's something I've always wanted to do. I hope it doesn't feel like Soarin with all the tilting and such, because that ride makes me hang in for dear life! I get such nerves on Soarin.....but I can usually suck it up and ride in the bottom row! :crazy2:

PAS, I noticed Padawan will be there the same time as us, we should plan a quick meet for a drink or something quick that won't impose on peoples travel plans! I know my days will be quite busy, but I'd LOVE to meet some of my RCer Fam jam :)

YIPEE! I agree with Amandaw, we can officially say next month we will be at Disney! :cool1:

My spur of the moment trip is progressing .... laundry done, packed, now I just need to remember to eat!!!

We ARE going to DL. Decided to book a room at the Hilton at the convention center .... about 2 blocks to Disney. But there was nothing available for this weekend on their website. I then checked the Last Minute Travel website and there it was but since they don't show the hotel name I thought it was the Hilton judging by the pictures but WAIT it says call for a better rate!!! I called, got the room booked for $80 a night plus tax!!! I've never paid so little for that hotel! :thumbsup2

Maybe I should book a room for the following weekend???? :confused3

Hello to all! :goodvibes

Pas: Single Digit Dancing with you: :dance3::dance3:

Dani: Thinking of you. This is just what the doctor ordered... with Lapu-Lapus on top. :thumbsup2

Kook: Mystery illness? Oooooh. I'll have to go be nosy. Wonder what's up with that. :scared:

Candace: BC ... YEAH! My favourite. :beach: I love that choice. :thumbsup2 Your beautiful girls are gonna love SAB. Also, "Plus it will be nice not to be tied down to a million ADR's..." This is how we feel about dining plans too. I swear I start to hyperventilate when I've got too many ADRs. 5 is already pushing it for me. :scared: :lmao:

GG: Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Sarah: Thinking of you! :grouphug:

Pixar: Non-stop flights for ... 5 ... for $910?! Deal of the Century, that is! :thumbsup2

Magic: "Kids should start on rock before the sandbox." I so agree! :rotfl:

Lacey & Koh: All of this talk of MNSSHP is getting me excited! pirate:

Padawans: Wonder how many invoices you'll get in the mail today? :rotfl2: I've only ever got one invoice in three years. :confused3

--------------------------

I've been frantically trying to get things ready for this weekend's rockstravaganza. We dropped off the House Guest from My Nightmares at the airport yesterday early morning. Rushed back home to take the kiddo to swim lessons and for my workout, signed her up for private lessons, rushed her home to give her a shower and then take her to the otolaryngologist for her ears. They did a hearing test on her and the doctor recommended she have tubes inserted in her ears since she keeps having problems with fluid build-up. She was distraught when the doctor was explaining how the surgery works. (Somehow, amazingly enough, they managed to book us in for surgery this coming Monday! :scared: ) I know it's a fairly common procedure -- but you all know how momma bears are, right? :lmao: I'll be fine as long as they allow me to be with her. I calmed her down by intricately explaining how the surgery will work (to the best of my knowledge) and that she won't feel anything since she'll be taking a nap. She's just like her daddy -- needs ALL the details. :teacher: All the details and a promised trip to Toys R Us afterward, that is... ;)

We topped off yesterday's hectic day with a trip to her first ever movie theatre movie. Brave was as good as you ladies say! We had a great time. She sat through the whole thing and enjoyed herself. (Although it's a dine-in theatre, so the candy, hot dogs, lemonade and popcorn helped keep her occupied. The margaritas helped lessen mommy and daddy's stress levels.)

Well, this thread is fast moving, so I can't begin to comment on everything! However, I am excited to see padawans has added a trip and will be there when we are! :cheer2: Another RC meet hopefully!

Dani and pas, you two must be getting so excited, your trips are sooo close!

Grumpy Grandma, yay for an unscheduled trip down south. Family time is wonderful and if you and your DD can get over to DL, even better! :goodvibes

mousemommy, congrats on booking your next trip. We love the BC, it has a fantastic location and a great pool. And, the pirate pictures are so cute.

KOOK, I can understand why you might pass on the adventure with the "mystery illness". Doesn't sound like what I would like to do on vacation :confused3 My younger DD and I always go to the GF spa on our annual spring week. This past year we went to Saratoga Springs for facials :goodvibes Unfortunately the spa van only goes from the GF and the Polynesian, that being said I highly recommend the spa experience. AND, yes your DD can get treatments, a pedicure, facial, manicure, soo many choices.

Sorry to everyone I missed. If I waited to post until I caught up, I would never post :lmao:

Try not to worry too much about the tubes. :grouphug: Our middle DD had them in twice and it really is nothing to worry about. Yes the biggest part is the sedation, it takes them a bit to snap out of it afterwards, but she will be back to herself in no time. I know, it's scary any time our kiddos have to undergo any kind of procedure. Hugs!:flower3:

Both of my girls had tubes put in at the age of 1 and they both did great! The procedure is super quick, about 20 minutes, but FEELS like forever. :guilty:
Neither of my girls has had a single ear infection since...knock on wood...and neither of them have the tubes in anymore, they both had them fall out at around age 3. :goodvibes
