Sheshule or schedule?

I've heard it said that way before (she-shule), but I don't say it that way. Sounds odd. I say it it sked-ual.

Is that a local pronunciation? I've never heard it pronounced that way before. Not saying it's wrong, I've just never heard it.

i've never heard of it until she started working here a few weeks ago. I believe she moved to New Jersey from the South to work in the NYC office, but other people I work with from that part of the country don't say it that way.

In the Queen's english it's pronounced "shedgul". but I don't know if it's even an English based word. It almost looks German??

Yeah, one of the managers is British and says it "Schedgul" although since he has been in the states for some time, he is weaning off the British accent a little.

I'm from the South, and I've never heard anything close to the pronunciation. Maybe she's being cheeky, as some people joking pronounce "special" thusly: schpeschul. If that's not what she's doing, my next thought would be that she has a mild speech impediment. Finally, if that's not the case either, I would consider letter her go.:)

Huh. I always thought it was "Hassenpfeffer incorporated." You know, like a company that makes German rabbit stew... :confused3 :rotfl:

You're probably right. I'm the kind of guy who hears "there's a bathroom on the right." Plus, my memory of Laverne and Shirley is imperfect. I'm more versed in the plot lines of Oswald and his penguin buddy (Squiggy).

Wait a second...hassenpfeffer doesn't fit the meter of that song!

Skedjule. :)

British people pronounce it the other way and some Americans think that they'll sound European if they pronounce it that way...like that's so great.

So long as they aren't saying UMbrella instead of umBRELla, I'm cool with it. :)

I just say "brolly" and call it a day.;)

And Mr. N. Credible, hassenpfeffer totally fits! HA! Check it out!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laverne_&_Shirley

Americans pronounce it as Sked-jule. Brits pronounce it as Shed-jule.

It drives me nuts too when I hear it the way the Brits say it :rotfl:

It varies whether I say sked-jule or shed-jule, but we are right no matter what - we had the language before you guys ;) .

Gee.....another example of Americans and their insular, "What ? There's a whole world out there ?" attitude......
