"She's Looking at Food Pictures Again!" A February Family Vacation! COMPLETE 8/14

Chapter 23 - Nine Dragons
February 25th, 2011

We got back to Old Key West, and Jonathan announces that he's not going to be hungry for our 5:10 pm dinner at Les Chefs de France. I was sad because I really wanted to try that restaurant, but we tried to get a later reservation.

We looked online and there was nothing. So we called just to make sure.

There was obviously nothing available for Les Chefs de France, so we tried some other spots. They were denying us for everything!!

Suddenly, the guy told my Mom there was an opening at Nine Dragon's for 6:30 pm! It just miraculously appeared! So we took it!

I actually originally had a reservation for Nine Dragons on that day but switched it out. I guess we ended up going there after all!

We wanted to get a little more time in the pool, so we went down there.

We went back up to the room and got ready, went to the bus stop.... and the Epcot bus was PULLING AWAY.

I had been dealing with this the WHOLE entire trip, and this was just the last straw. So on top of changing my reservation, if I was late for this one, I was going to be REALLY mad.

The next bus didn't show up until 6:10 or 6:15... which resulted in a lot of stress and unhappiness during our wait time and bus ride.

It took ten minutes to get out of Old Key West, and then we were on our way to Epcot. Thank God Epcot is right new Old Key West, or we would have been done!

My Dad ran ahead to get to the restaurant... because of course, China is wayy far away from the entrance. My Dad takes the longest while trying to get to the bus, so he knew I was unhappy with him. So he ran ahead.

Mom, Jon, and I speed-walked to China. I guess I burned off my dinner then, huh?

We arrived at 6:42 pm. FINALLY. And thank God they didn't give us any problems!!

We were seated very quickly in the middle of the first room.

I don't remember our waiter's name, but he was very nice and he spoke pretty decent English!

The tensions simmered down and we really enjoyed our meal after all that!

(Actually, I was still mad at my Dad when we took this picture. But I got over it fast, once I got some food in my stomach!)

Dad started with the Cucumber Salad, which he said was delicious! My Mom liked it, too!

We also got Egg Rolls:

And Pot Stickers:

Both were very good, of course!

Dad also mentioned to the waiter that we might get a strawberry smoothie later, but he brought one out anyway.

It was VERY sweet.. but I liked it anyway. The recipt said that it was a virgin strawberry daquiri, so that's probably what it was.

I got the Steak and Shrimp for my meal. The steak was good... but the Shrimp was UNBELIEVABLE! I wish I could have had more of it.

My Dad got the Fish:

My and Dad's portion sizes were good, but Jonathan and Mom's plates were HUGE!

Jonathan got the Shrimp Fried Rice. He was extremely impressed with the Shrimp, as well! So if you are a big Shrimp Fan, make sure you go to Nine Dragons at some point! My only complaint about it is that they don't give you enough!!

And Mom got Kung Pao Chicken, I believe!

For dessert I got some Red Bean Ice Cream... which is probably my favorite dessert in all of Disney! It's SO fantastic.

After our meal, we went to the Norway Bakery and picked up a schoolbread for Kristen. We also got one for ourselves and it was delicious!!

Overview of Nine Dragon's Dining Experience:
Order: Steak and Shrimp
Order Rating: 4/5 - too much steak, not enough shrimp!
Service: Good! Our waiter was nice and did a good job! He seemed a little rushed as time went on, though. But I could see why, it got crowded by the end of our meal! 4.5/5
Overall Experience: It was stressful to get there, but the meal was worth it. I loved it! It was a little chilly in there too.. lots of A/C!
Overall Rating: 4.5/5
1st Visit?: No
Revisit?: Yes!
Complaints: Too much steak, not enough shrimp, and we were in bad moods to start off. (but that was our own faults!)

Talk about making me hungry! If only the DIS would make it possible for the internet to transport food from Disney pictures into the pics so the person looking at them may enjoy them, but no... of course not I shall send in a letter about this... to the PRESIDENT lololol

Sorry you had trouble finding new reservations and getting to the new one on time. Still, they let you in and it sounded like a nice dinner. The Egg rolls look delicious! to the (Virgin) Strawberry Daiquri, LOOVVEE those! And basically everything else looks good. I think your TRs are starting to pester me with Red Bean Ice Cream. I must get that next time I go, same with the school bread

Now, I must go find something to suffice for this virtual meal. Can't wait to read more!

We had a similar situation with an Ohana breakfast where we felt we would never get there!

Glad you enjoyed your meal once you got there - we enjoyed Nine Dragons last year - yes it was busy but the service and food was very good.

I haven't eaten at Nine Dragons since they overhauled it and gave it a new menu. That food looks fabulous though! It's going to have to be on my list for sure.

I know they're pricey ugh i felt bad but I needed it haha. I use it all the time! It's the purse i bring around with me everywhere I go!

I know.. what a mess. It was a very good dinner though! You will enjoy it! Don't worry - I got to go to Chefs in April So it's all good!

YAY! I'm all caught up on this one now I LOVE YOUR BAG. I saw them and WANTED ONE. Obviously a bit out of my price range I'm glad you have one though Your Grumpy was really good by the way! It looked very realistic Sorry about all your transportation problems That's another reason my parents love having the car, we always seem to miss the bus or tram or boat or monorail. Luckily the monorails and trams come more often though! I loove love shrimp and Kristen really liked Nine Dragons so I'll definitely have to try it in an upcoming trip! And how the waiters/waitresses call each other "cousin" at Ohana is so freaking adorable Congrats on your Buzz score, Galactic hero!!! I always manage to not get the big points and get like a 20000 while everyone else has somewhere in the 900000s. Oh my luck Can't wait for more, I need to keep my Disney spirits up

Hooray!! I know... I broke the bank a little bit there haha but it's okay. it's the only designer purse I own And aww thank you! Yeah... I just have such an attachement to the Disney transportation... i can't give it up Even if it causes me problems. And mmm yes Nine Dragon's is great! And aww I know, Ohana is awesome!! You need to go there on your next trip too! And aww thanks. It's one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. I am sure I'll update soon! I can't wait to read your trip report!! ​

Nine dragons sounds great I am a big fan of shrimp so it sounds like a place I should check out also I remember you mentioning how great there ice cream is, do you remember what flavor it is? Mmmm it is so good! You definitely should go there! And it is Strawberry Red Bean Ice Cream. Not only available at Nine Dragons, but also Lotus Blossom Cafe And thank you! The wristlets are cute too! If they made the purse in blue, I probably would have gotten it in that color. LOVE it ​
