Chapter 19 - Eating Food From Casey's on Seagull Island
February 24th, 2011

Ahh another wonderful day in Disney! I woke up and got ready. Mom and I had english muffins for breakfast, and the two of us went to the Magic Kingdom!

Every other type of bus came before Magic Kingdom, so we had a little bit of a wait. But it wasn't too bad.

We got to the park and took the train to Frontierland!

We went to get Fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain, but the machine wasn't working. But that's okay, because a cast member just handed them to us! And when he asked how many, we told him 4 (even though we only had 2 tickets with us!) because then Dad and Jonathan would be able to ride with us later! Shhh...

Since our park tickets weren't in use, we got 2 fastpasses for Splash Mountain! Hooray!

So then, we didn't really have anything else to do, so we just got on the train because we wanted to see what happened at the Toontown Stop.

It's blocked off with a green tarp. At this point, a good chunk of Toontown was still there that you could see if you look over it.

The dialogue on the train talks about the future of Fantasyland. They mentioned the Be Our Guest Restaurant (SO EXCITED!) and Under the Sea with Ariel... etc. I am very excited for the new Fantasyland updates!

I realized that the last *new* ride they made was Toy Story Mania. And that was open my freshman year of high school! They have "reopened" rides with enhancements and such... but there wasn't anything completely new created throughout my whole high school career! That was an interesting fact that I concluded.

Anyways.. for anyone who was wondering, as of February on the Walt Disney World Railroad, you still stop and "refresh the water supply" when you get to the Toontown Train Station.

We rode the Railroad until Main Street USA and then we got off.

We stopped in the Main Street Bakery and Mom got a Latte.

We looked in all of the shops and saw lots of cute stuff!

At the end of Main Street, we decided to head into Tomorrowland to ride the PeopleMover, however, it was having technical difficulties!

Then we went to Fantasyland and rode Snow White. We thought that would be the last time we rode it before it closed. (but we got to ride it again in April - so that was a nice treat!)

There's a little bird sitting on the branch in this picture! He was so cute.. he must've thought it was a real tree!

Then we found out that Dad and Jonathan were on their way to the park, so we met them at the Peter Pan's Flight Fastpass station and we got some Fastpasses!

Then we went on PhilharMagic! I REALLY love that show. Like... a LOT. I don't know what it is about it... but I get chills every time. It is pure genius.

Then we decided to go to Casey's for lunch!

This was the first time I was made aware that they were now offering specialty dogs! It's crazy... I was there in January and they weren't even available yet. Kind of crazy that you can come back a month later and things can be different!

The specialty dogs look cool, but they REALLY slowed down the line. I hope this problem has been resolved by now, but dang I was getting so annoyed.

It didn't help that the people in front of us had a HUGE order, and our cashier was taking care of them, so it just took FOREVER.

And then the people in front of me getting ketchup and mustard were so slow too. People were driving me crazy. It was just nuts in there.

So after that hectic little scene, we went at sat in the seating area near the water that was near the castle.

Mmm I was excited for my hot dog!

The only thing is that the hot dog rolls were now much larger for the specialty dogs. Which meant a lot of excessive bread for regular hot dogs. Does anyone know if they're still like this? Or are they back to normal yet?

And sadly, the fries weren't that good that day! They were a little burnt. Wah.

And I call this photo: "THE SEAGULLS ATTACK THE MAGIC KINGDOM!"

There were seagulls EVERYWHERE! They kept swooping down and flying everywhere... ugh they were obnoxious!! Jonathan named this seating area "Seagull Island" because... it really was. And there were ladybugs flying on us too! Wah. Not a good time.

Overall, this was probably our worst experience at Casey's. It just was too crazy! I was in a pretty bad mood because everything just kept being all wrong and annoying. Ahh well.

Order: Hot Dog and Friend and Lemonade
Rating: 4/5 The Fries were a little overdone.
Service: We were there at the peak of lunchtime so it was VERY slow. 2.5/5
Overall Experience: Not very enjoyable. It was crowded, people were slow and stupid, and where we sat was seagull island. It's usually our favorite, but we had our worst experience here this time.
Overall Rating: 2/5

Revisit?: Yeah. I love those dang hot dogs
Complaints?: LOL I think I complained enough for one review.

Awwww... Toontown, so sad to see it all covered up. If only I wasn't stupid on my first trip and walked right past it. Excuse me, while I go bang my head on the table... Alright I'm back! But that's nice that they have announcements about FLE and some other things to cover up what is currently happening. I can't wait to see how the station will look once it opens as the new Fantasyland.

Do they seriously have Lattes at the Main Street Bakery or am I reading this wrong? I'm totally confused right now. ?_?

Awww... SWSA... I'm so sad it's closing. That was my first ride in Disney ever, legit. When I went with my family for the first time over a year ago, we walked right into Fantasyland and went on that ride. I think I'm even more sad about that closing than Toontown. Love the little bird who found his perch on a tree in the ride. Adorable! And I love that picture of Dopey at the end. I think that was definitely the best part of that ride.

PhilharMagic is a great show! I can see why you would get chills. I mean, it is very classical disney fantasy (with Donald Duck antics of course) and that seems to be what you enjoy the most.

Ooooo... that doesn't sound like fun. I can't believe you get stuck behind one large order than the slow people? That's some intense waiting. You get up, receive burnt fries and an oversized bun (but I'm guessing the hot dog was still good, right?) And then SEAGULLS! I wonder if it's some type of curse with them. You go to your favorite CS, sit outside and they're everywhere... or maybe that's just me LOL

Hopefully that whole scene won't be repeated. Can't wait to read more!

Food is a VERY good reason to get up. And yes I quote myself ALL the time.

Okay so while you're walking around World Showcase I'll be stuffing my face with school bread, and then I'll go to Magic Kingdom and ride it off on Splash Mountain. Maybe you burn calories on the drop...

It really is. I get up everyday for food! And LOL so do i... and people don't understand.
And yeah... i think that all of the anticipation burns calories. It counts.

When I was there, I think I remember most of them were sophomores, so it's probably more likely as a Sophomore in college you'll get in.

I wouldn't be going with my family, just with my mom, since she actually enjoys Disney. She isn't exactly obsessed, but she enjoys it to where she would enjoy another trip. I'm also hoping to bring two or one other friend as well. I've already talked with them and one of them said he would pay for his whole portion, no question. And we know a DVC member who lent us some points for our first trip and my mom's already talked to her about the possibility. I'm happy that we've gotten that far.

Yup, that's what I was finding too. That's when I'm planning on doing it.
And aww that's really fun! I always love going with my mom And friends just make it SUPER fun!! That sounds like you have a good plan.. I hope it goes through!

Homework on vacation?! Very ambitious of you! I am in grad school, and so I am constantly writing papers. I remember on my last trip, I was writing a paper on the plane ride down to Orlando. But my computer battery wouldn't last too long, so at some point I started handwriting the paper. It was pretty silly and could have been avoided if I had not procrastinated lol.

The boats look fun! It is good that you got to talk about the college program with a cute guy.

Fulton's looks yummy. LOVE the ring! What a great souvenir!

Haha I know, right? Ugh I hate writing papers. And LOL that's okay. At least you got it done!

Get out! I need that Mickey ring! I just went on the Disney store website to see if it was on there and it wasn't. Hopefully they still have it in October!

Fulton's Crab House used to be so much better when it was still owned by Disney and was the Empress Lilly. My parents ate at Fulton's a few years ago and were so disappointed in the food and how expensive it was!

Isn't it cute?! I love it! I'm sure it'll be there in October... I think they keep the jewelry supply pretty consistent.
And yeah I have heard that. If it didn't cost so much we would definitely go back more often

Boo for homework at Disney! That banana toast looks SO good! I got so lucky last year because I went a month and a half before graduation so I was already done with everything for the year! Josh sounds INCREDIBLE!!!! I think we have a common liking for Disney boys. I've always wanted to do the Disney College program but they don't have any health related career's as a major....I digress

I know that was sad And yes it was yummy!! And oh that is very lucky! Josh was great!! I wish I could have gotten to know him more... hahaha. And aww you should just do it anyways!

Sounds like the smoothies were yummy! The characters in flight balloon hadn't opened yet when I was there, but it looks cool! I've never been to fulton's, but it sounds good! I've always loved the lego sea serpent too! We are so much alike! I am really lucky because here in Missouri we have a place called legends which is basically an outdoor mall and it has restaurants and stuff like that! Anyways, that is the only other place besides Downtown Disney that has a T-Rex restaurant! I've been there four times I think, and every single time the food has been delicious! You pay more for the atmosphere, but still, it is incredibly cool! It's basically rainforest cafe but themed more with Dinosaurs and earlier animals!

They were! And oh really? Yeah that's a pretty recent addition. And yes Fulton's is yummy! And haha those legos are great! And oh really?! That's awesome!! I want to go to T-Rex so bad but I don't have room in my upcoming trip! Oh well, next time!

I stayed at Saratoga Springs three years ago with my grandparents and my brother and it was really nice! I loved the pool and the restaurants, but I didn't like the walking! We had to take a bus to get back to our room or to get to the pool or anything like that.....otherwise it was a 30 min walk. NEVER again! Next time I will request a closer building!!

It is really nice! I stayed there... twice i think? Once with my family, and then once with my family plus my friend from school. Those were like... 3 or 4 years ago now! Wow time flies. I liked the restaurants too.. Artists Palette and Turf Club... YUM!!! And ughh I know I hate walking. Busses are the way to go!

The characters in flight picture is so cool! I love when I take pictures and I don't find out until later that I got an amazing shot! I've always thought that french quarter was prettier than riverside but only because of the colors! Me and my mom stopped there one day last trip and ate at Sassagoula when we were there! I liked the theming of riverside SO much more though! Next trip you should definitely try to stay at riverside! I would say it's more for a girls trip though! Me and my mom stayed there last trip and it was GORGEOUS!!!!! I love it! We never did eat at Boatwrights...but that was only because we made so many ADR's and character dining ADR's that we ate all of our hotel meals in the food court!

I've never been to OKW, is it nice? I know that on my next trip i'm going to dedicate one day to resort hopping! I'm going to go to every hotel on property so that I can experience them all! The pontoon looked like fun! Love your updates!

Your ring is adorable!!!!! I have a mickey ring that I got in Disney a few years back! It's the Mickey ears in baby blue with a diamond in the middle and a pink bow on it's ear! I love that ring! I got one of those shirts too! I think because they were only like $15 I knew that I had to get one! I bought the hot pink one!

Like going on it again when I was there last time, I found it to not be as great, so I understand why it is going, but it's one of the very few opening day rides left at MK. :/

Ahhhh so thats why the buns are so huge now at Casey's!! We ate there a few weeks ago and ripped off so much bread, and it was quite stale. The best part of our meal was the tiny little baby duck that was right at out feet eating little pieces of the bread. I took a picture and my foot is in it to show how close he was. But yes if you like pandemonium, Casey's is the place to go. Always too many people and nowhere to sit. Actually every restaurant (QS) we ate at last trip was like that. Luckily I could send one of my kids to find a table, but carrying all that food back and looking for them was never fun. On a plus side our economy must be booming, because everyone goes to Disney now.

Sorry to hear your meal there was a bummer too. Looking forward to the next update!! AND still waiting for my PM from you about college!!

Like going on it again when I was there last time, I found it to not be as great, so I understand why it is going, but it's one of the very few opening day rides left at MK. :/

Yeah, pricing is always the big issue with Disney! It's SO freakin' expensive! The thing that really kills you, I think, is the admission tickets. SO much money At least you get what you're paying for... but when you're a kid and don't have a steady source of income... that's results in a problem.
I only went to Disneyland once when I was 12... and I don't remember. But I need to go back soon!! So I'll have to check it out as well.
And yeah It's just sad. It's a classic.

Ahhhh so thats why the buns are so huge now at Casey's!! We ate there a few weeks ago and ripped off so much bread, and it was quite stale. The best part of our meal was the tiny little baby duck that was right at out feet eating little pieces of the bread. I took a picture and my foot is in it to show how close he was. But yes if you like pandemonium, Casey's is the place to go. Always too many people and nowhere to sit. Actually every restaurant (QS) we ate at last trip was like that. Luckily I could send one of my kids to find a table, but carrying all that food back and looking for them was never fun. On a plus side our economy must be booming, because everyone goes to Disney now.

Yeah, I know isn't it annoying? I just want my regular hot dog rolls back And AWW that is so cute!! I know, Casey's is like a must. Even though it's always crowded. Oh well! I love it too much. And oh YAY I hope the economy is booming. All thanks to Disney Oh also, did you ever start a TR for your trip?
