This morning dd gets up and is walking throught the house, she stops and says in a most worried voice "a mom I think my tooth is loose, yes it is wiggling" in turn I tell her no it can't be she is not supposed to be growing up!!!

I can't take it, I feel like I should follow her around until the tooth falls out (like I can change the outcome).

My point is I can't believe that she just keeps growing and changing and LOSING TEETH......not supposed to happen, not yet anyway!!

So how old were your kids when they started losing their teeth??

They do grow up quickly don't they.

My DS couldn't wait to lose teeth, but I think that is because he was late. I want to say he was 7 when he lost his first tooth the natural way. When he was 6 had his two front baby teeth pulled because he had an extra adult tooth that was blocking the natural progression of his permanent adult teeth. He is now 8 and the 2nd front tooth still hasn't emerged as of yet. Also, he only has 1 of his 6 year molars. The dentist said that is because he is a late "bloomer" as far as teeth go, he was a year old before he got his first tooth.

I feel your pain.. :( My DD is 5 (6 in january) and she just started kindergarten yesterday. The end of last week she showed me her first loose tooth. We kept wondering which would come first - the tooth out or kindergarten. I am hoping that she looses it in school because they give them a plastic white tooth case on a string to put it in. DS has a couple of those.

I thought this was early for her...as DS lost his first one a month after he turned 6. But then again, this kid always has to do things earlier than her brother!

My dd is 6 1/2 and doesn't have any loose yet. She is convinced she is the only first grader in the world who hasn't lost teeth. My neice lost hers starting at 5, but she got teeth early as a baby. I've heard that when they start losing them is corrolated to when they get them as a baby and when their parents lost theirs. My dd's didn't get teeth until 8 months, my ds has 2 at 5 months. I vividly remember losing my first tooth in first grade. I swallowed it at lunch during school! Fortunately the tooth fairy didn't require the actual tooth to pay out! :p

DS had his first tooth knocked out by a classmate on the playground. LOL! That was in kindergarten. The teacher sent a note home written to the tooth fairy (I almost wrote tag fairy!) letting her know DS really lost a tooth, but it was somewhere on the playground. They hadn't found it! LOL! I was kind of glad when that kid left at the end of the year and moved to Chicago. LOL! Actually, nice kid and family. But geez! ;)

DS is now in 6th grade and 5'6". :scared1: :scared1:  I'm 5'8" for Pete's sake!! The pediatrician said look for him to be 6'2" or 6'3". :faint:

this is jan/cape's DD

I lost my first tooth in kidnergarden which may seem early, but my last baby teeth had to be pulled out this year at the age of 17! 2 molars just didnt wanna go. Ive been lucky w/ teeth though, no braces or cavaties (knocks on wood)

My kids were/are late to lose teeth. Drew is almost 6 and shows no sign of loose teeth, and Luke was 6 1/2 when he lost his first.

It is definately a milestone though! :) Hope Julie gets lots of money from the generous toothfairy! :) :) :)

Alyssa is 6 and none loose yet...

Forgot to add...the tooth fairy has been nervous that the tooth would come out and she wouldn't be ready - for the first tooth we do something special. Yesterday at BJ's I picked up a princesses zippered binder complete with a notebook inside since DD loves to draw and write. I've oops, THE TOOTH FAIRY, has it safely hidden away until needed. :)

Thanks everyone!!! This really surprised me, Julie and I have talked before about teeth coming out but I didn't expect it this soon!!!

Just another joy of parenthood, watching your child look goofy without their baby teeth!!!! :p

About 3 weeks before my DD's 6th bday she told me she had a loose tooth. I told her that she wasn't allowed to loose teeth till she was 6. Sure enough about a week after she turned 6 the tooth came out.
I knew her tooth was loose but she wouldn't let me or DH do much more than wiggle it. It got to the point where it was just hanging there. One afternoon her, DS9 and DD12 were sitting out by the swing set. I thought they were being awful quiet. Well all of a sudden they came rushing in "Jocelyn's tooth is out!!" She gives me this big grin and I see the hole and some blood. My oldest pulled it out for her. They were just as excited (if not more) as she was.

Talk about making you feel old - my baby looses her first tooth and my oldest did the pulling. AND they all did this (complete with paper towels and a baggie for the tooth) with out me knowing.

I'm in trouble!
