sheraton world safari

We are staying at the sheraton world safari at christmas.Has anyone stayed and used the transport provided?, were not keen on driving so would like to make use of it aslong as it doesn't go around lots of other hotels aswell!

I'm assuming you are referring to the Sheraton Safari. We've stayed here and loved it. However, we didn't use the shuttle service. We tried this on one trip at another hotel, and won't try it again. It wasn't for us. Many hotels run very spotty shuttle service. The great thing about this hotel is it is right outside Disney property. Which means there is next to no travel time.

This is a converted Days Inn & Suites.

-- the public areas were reconstructed & are quite nice
-- the rest of the hotel has a distinct 1970s-era Days Inn & Suites look (including the basic layout... the building with the suites & all ground floors are outdoor cooridors whereas the rest of the rooms are interior cooridors)
-- the rooms have been recently refubrished & are quite nice other than the wall-unit air conditioner (which sticks out like a sore thumb)
-- the hotel has standard Sheraton amenities & features, including the beds
-- food is priced at what one would expect for a Sheraton -- don't bother, it's not very good & plenty of options are available within a short walk or drive
-- the pool area was very nice... a basic pool, but landscaped very nicely with music playing. No lifeguard, but there is a person making a sales pitch for suntan lotion every 15 minutes...

A low-end Sheraton but a respectable hotel. Unless you get a deal here (like via Priceline), most of the time there's better hotels choices elsewhere.

We just stayed one night at the Sheraton World Safari, adjacent to Sea World. The website says walking distance to SW, but it really isn't unless you are really into long walks.

Request a room in the tower as they are newer and do not have door that open to the outside. The rooms have the "heavenly-type" beds that are at the Westin. I don't remember what Sheraton calls their comparable bed. But, it is comfy and the room was clean and nice. The pool is not just plain. It is surrounded by lush gardens and looked really nice. The food choices are slim and pricey.

I reserved the room on Sheraton's website because it was WAY cheaper than priceline. They had a "web-only" pre-pay special for $68 a night! The advertisied regular price was something like $175 to $200 per night. This price was a GREAT deal and well worth it.

It was as comfy as our room at the Polynesian but, without the wonderful Hawaiian decor!

I will say that I would not pay more than $100 per night to stay there--especially if they stuck me in one of the "cabana" rooms which are the old ones that have the outside door. They are far away from the lobby and restaurants and pool. The price you paid will determine your level of satisfaction! At $68 a night--we were VERY pleased.

There's a Sheraton Safari and a Sheraton World, but there's no Sheraton World Safari. Not sure which one the OP is asking about, but I assume the later.

As for the Priceline comment... I imagine when most people talk about Priceline, they're referring to the "bidding" product. Priceline rates the Sheraton World as a 2* ... not many people report data for 2* hotels, so I'm not sure of the Priceline rate. It appears the common 2* hotel is the Comfort Suites for $25/night.

The Sheraton Safari, OTOH, is Priceline's most common 3* DWV hotel -- going for $39-$55, depending on the dates.

Okay, just went to Starwood website and we stayed at the Sheraton World, adjacent to Sea World. There is another called Sheraton Safari at Lake Buena Vista. The current rates are a lot cheaper than when we travelled, $99 - $149. Still my original post still stands regarding quality, etc.
