Having an updated room at VV isn't as important as VR as VV was opened as a Sheraton and has maintained SVN standards since opening.

With all due respect to your above quote Calgarygary......the Vistana Villages is pretty new. The first/oldest phase opened in 2001 to guests. Some of the phases are only a year old or still under construction. So I'd expect the standards to be high considering it's newness factor.

The main Vistana opened in the early 1980's. The oldest section at the main resort was built in 1980. Most were built in the late 80's or early 90's. So we're talking alot more years here. I own in the Fountains section which opened in 1990---so we're talking 18 years old now.

Yes...it's true some of the older sections from the 80's were let go and not kept modern and fresh. Nor were they kept up to Gold Crown standards. Fortunately that resort is undergoing a big rehab/remodel now. From the photos I've seen, the older sections are going to look great. As owners, we were all charged a pretty hefty assessment for these upgrades. But as owners, we all knew it had to be done. But I'd truly like to come back in 20-25 years and see if the Villages fairs any differently/better. It's easy to say that Sheraton has "maintain SVN standards since opening"----when the Villages opening wasn't all that long ago. When I bought at the main Vistana back in 1994 my section was only 4 years old. I wasn't thinking this far ahead and never expected it to lose Gold Crown status in the year 2007. So I would keep on top of my association meetings and newsletters (assuming you own at the Villages---I'm not sure) in the upcoming years.

I get concerned about any timeshares keeping up to standards after 25-30 years----even DVC since I own there as well.
For now.....the Villages is new and fresh. We can only hope it stays that way a decade from now.
