Sheraton Vistana Villages - bathroom amenities?

We're headed to the Sheraton Vistana Villages this weekend and are trying to go carry on only, so I have a few questions that will hopefully help limit what I need to pack!

1) Is a hair dryer provided?

2) Is soap/shampoo provided?

I've never stayed at a timeshare type place so I'm not sure what to expect... I know these would be standard amenities at a Sheraton *hotel*, but I don't want to assume it would be the same here.

Also, does anyone know how much a taxi would cost from SVV to Magic Kingdom? I've heard Sheraton has shuttles but I've read conflicting information about what they cost and how reliable they are. There's 3 of us, so I'm thinking it may be cheaper to split taxi fare than to each pay a shuttle?

1. We stayed in a 2 BR a few years back and the room had a hair dryer attached to the wall in both bathrooms.

2. We were provided the small soaps and shampoos.

3. We had a car so I don't have an idea on the taxi cost. It's about 1 1/2 miles from downtown disney so it shouldn't be that much but could add up over time. I remember there being a free shuttle to the parks, but we didn't use it (and were told it gets crowded and you might not get on). You're also on their schedule. Not something I'd want on vacation.

Have a good trip. We did enjoy that resort.:goodvibes

Just to disagree a bit........

SVV is 9.1 miles from the MK. SVV is about 3.8 miles to downtown disney.

The main Vistana is 6.8 miles from the MK and about 2 miles to DD.

Just wanted to clarify because this will add a good amount to your cab fare if you were going to budget for only a 1.5 mile drive.

I would think you could rent a car for cheaper than using taxis.

Just wanted to add an experience with taxi cost too.

A couple years ago, I took a taxi from the Carribbean Beach resort in WDW, to the Regal Sun resort. It is a 2.5 mile drive. The one-way cost of the taxi was $8 (plus a tip).

So for a 9 mile trip with a taxi, I'm gonna guesstimate (and rates have probably gone up since 2007 when I used the taxi), the cost would be $25-$30 ONE way AT LEAST. I think maybe more even ? The traffic on International Drive can be a bit heavy. I'm sure you could do much better with a rental.

Good site Pat..........

I'd guesstimate a bit higher than fares you get due to traffic conditions that might arise.

I plugged in the CBR to Regal Sun which I paid $8 for in Dec 2007 and it came very close----$7.61

I then put in SVV to the MK and got $21.67 (I'd guess that could easily be $25 with traffic patterns on certain days of the week/time of the day/and or time of the year. So round trip could very well be up to $50/day to the MK and back........I know you could get a compact car for less than that. I just rented a mid size in Feb for $42/day.

Thanks though.....great link.

I didn't know :confused3 that the Sheraton Vistana Villages were not on the same property as the Sheraton Vistana (which is where I stayed).

A 1 1/2 mile estimate to DD isn't so bad if you say it's "about 2". I was just quoting it from the wrong spot.

To the OP, I apologize for my mistake, and I guess since I didn't stay at the "Villages" I also can't speak to their being any hair dryers or soaps since I only know about the Sheraton Vistana.

Does anyone else have an idea re: shampoo and hairdryer, in that case?

We're only going to MK for *one* day so renting a car for our entire week is not happening just to make that one day convenient. It would cost us about $400 to rent (taking into account gas, taxes and parking fees). We can spend $50 a day in taxi fares and still come out even... but most days we won't need to use one at all. Plus, we don't like driving in areas we are unfamiliar with.. it takes part of the relaxation out of the vacation.

Thanks for the link to the fare estimator.. that helps a lot.

We stayed @ Visitana Villages last January and yes they provided little bottles of shampoo and small bars of soap and refilled on the cleaning days. They do not clean on a daily basis other than replacing towels.

They also provided a hair dryer.

This place is beautiful and the rooms are great.

If it weren't for the 4/3 deal, we would be going back there in May, but we are trying out a disney resort this time instead.
