I'm confused about what the difference is between the two. Which is nicer?

We're looking for a two bedroom for 5 of us. We onlly need it for one night due to our vacation home being booked for our final night.

We've stayed at Vistana Resort and will be staying in the Villages this November. My friend stayed at VV a couple of years back and said she had a fabulous time. She liked that the resort was newer, loved the decor of the units, the pool, everything. However, VR is much larger than VV and has more pools and places to eat (VV has no sit down restaurant). If it's only for one night, I would go with whichever one is less money.

I have stayed at both and prefered Vistana Villages. All the units are newer and it is not such a sprawling resort. You can't really go wrong with either though.

If you can book directly into the newest section at the main Vistana resort---the Cascades, then that resort is much larger and has more amenities to offer(including 2 onsite sit-down restaurants). You can also get villa room service from these restaurants.
But if you can't get a guaranteed reservation for the Cascades, then the Villages is newer. There is no restaurant onsite here though and not sure if they offer any kind of room service.
