I just received "an invitation" to a 90 minute Sheraton Vacation timeshare presentation. Its for 4 nights for $169.00 and then a gift of $100.00. I have never done this before and have no intention of puchasing one.

Can you pick the day and time that you want to attend the presentation? (I don't want to go in the middle of the day)
Do they get nasty with you when you say "no'?

Is this a bargin??

Is it worth it?

Please help, I really need to make my plans for a 1st week in November trip.

This must be a Jersey thing, because I received the same thing.....so funny! From researching this board, it seems it is worth it considering the price you pay is almost a 1 night stay. Although my invitation is for $199, are you sure yours is $169? I bet if it is, they charge more for those who have already stayed there. Anyhow I am thinking about doing it myself and would love to hear some answers to this too.

Kathy, I see you are going during Jersey's teacher convention?

tell the saleperson up front that you are here because of the great deal on your room.

Vistana can be little pushly (don't know personally - read this on tug).

but stand your ground if you don't want to buy don't!!!!

remember this is florida so if you give in you got 10 days after you sign (might be 15) to cancel the darn thing - just make them tell you where in the contract this clause is -

No timeshares in Fl can get really nasty - it is against Fl laws - hey I still remember Westgate use to actually lock people in the room with them.

So just tell them you aren't interested!!!

Wow, I can't imagine saying that to them at the start of the presentation......but if some have I guess they are well aware that some just accept the invitation for the good deal.

Thanks Simba & spiceycat for your replies. My husband can't tell anyone "no", I need to run to the front door and get ahead of him before he buys those darn magazines subscriptions!!:D
I'll just have to tell them that we are there for the great room deal.

I also didn't read the back of the invitation letter. It states that this is an invitation to tour Vistana Villas, BUT, accomdations are at the Caribe Royal or the Buena Vista Suites. I guess you would have to drive there to see the tour. That must be why the price is $169 vs $199 invitation that you got Simba for the Vistana Suites. I called to see if I could get the Vistana Villas instead, but the CR rep said I could
not.

I'll either try skyauction, use the mousesavers code or just stay at HIFS.
PS. Yes, we are going during Jersey Week! How did you guess

Thanks again:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :D

What is the mousesavers code for sheraton vistana resorts? I never heard of this before.

The mousesavers code is Aears. You put this in the promotional spot on the sheraton website. I just called reservations....it was easier. For 3 out of the 5 days I requested, the Vistana went for $99.00 a night for the 1 bedroom and something like $129 for the 2 bedroom. However on the other 2 nights, it went for $149.00 and $169.00.

Go to mousesavers.com for more info. (I don't know how to include the link the way other people do...sorry)

luvdisney14, sorry...gave you the wrong info. The correct site is
http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm

That great rate is not on mousesavers.com, it was published on Debs site.

Use allears or aears. Also, one of my nights I booked was during regular season. I was able to only book 1 night over their internet site and got a great rate that they hook on to my existing reservation.

Hope this helps
Kathy

The Caribe Royale is a very nice "suite hotel", with interior rooms and a great water slide pool. We stayed there 3 times w/our family of 4......but when they no longer offered the wonderful free breakfast buffet we decided to check on-site accomodations. I would still highly recommend the Caribe, especially at that price.

The Sheraton presentation isn't too bad....you just have to remember that "no is a complete sentence".

We done a Vistana presentation years back,we were actually staying at the Radisson on LBV & they had a desk in the reception at the time they were giving away free passes.
They never got nasty BUT this is pressure selling! I would be surprised if it only takes 90 mins..If i remember correctly it was a presentation first, then show you the rooms, whilst the rep is finding out all your details,so that by the time the "pitch" starts they are your best friend & you feel that you are letting them down if you don't buy!! If you can get your hands on a copy of the Unofficial Guide, they have a section that describes it perfectly! & If you do buy wait until they come in with the real offer not the first couple of smoke screens!!

don't buy DVC is about the same price and onsite.

If you don't buy DVC - don't buy ANYWHERE in Orlando.

Orlando is a very easy trade.
