Sheraton Vistana Resort

Looking at staying or buying resale at Sheraton Vistana, but there are so many different areas. What are the nicer areas of the resort both for rooms and pools? Have 4 kids (14,12,11 and 8) so a nice pool is a necessity!!

We currently with DVC AKV and want to add some additional time after our Disney trip to recover from the parks. We are still park commandos, so please be honest and let me know the pros and cons if you have stayed here.

find which one has the cheapest maintenance fees - that is what gets more and more expensive each year.

with skyauction or RCI you might be better off not buying but renting.

now if DVC is your only timeshares - might go someplace else - especially ones that alow you to have excess to both RCI and II

My dad owned at Vistana when I was a teenager (13 to be exact) Im almost 39 now.. lol
I have the best memories of running around with all the other teenagers from all over the country and also using the free shuttle they had to MK.. NOt sure if they still have that.. I sure do miss Vistana!

You can take a look of this place. This place has many beautiful resorts.
But I have never stayed there.

I owned 2 weeks there but we only stayed 1 week before I gave it away(got them on eBay for $1). We are used to staying DVC and it was completely different.

The resort is beautiful but things like only having double beds in the 2nd bedroom didn't work for us plus the area we were in didn't have an elevator plus the quiet pools weren't nice IMO. It just didn't fit for us.

When you say buying resale, do you mean buying a one week stay from an owner, or actually buying a timeshare? I would suggest the former before you take a dive with the later; especially if you already own DVC.

If you peruse the thread that Gina quoted you will find lots of information about the various sections, but the short of it is, there are no "better" sections really. The entire resort has been fully refurbished with the last sections completed in summer of 2011. The resort is large, but still compact enough that kids can pool hop easily; it's like walking a couple of blocks from pool to pool. There are minor differences in accomodations by sections, with the two newest sections (Cascades and Lakes) being in taller buildings with elevators. But with taller buildings comes tighter parking, more neighbors, more noise. My family prefers the older walkup units for the space and the quietness.

Been an owner at Sheratan Vistana Resort for the past 6 years. Own a week in the Falls section for end of July. There was a huge renovation project that started a just few years back. Units were remodeled with a newer modern decor including granite kitchen counters etc. It allowed the resort to jump back to gold status. If you are going to buy, pick an older section like falls which is more secluded. Units look more like townhomes with an upper and lower unit. There's more privacy, less noise, outdoor bbq, childrens play area. No real gripes except the morning messages for additional timeshare upsells aka owners update. You can request to opt out during check in. Everything is close by including a super walmart. Mini golf across the street, dunkin donuts, chick filet, walgreens around the corner. Maintenance fees have hovered around $800-$900 per week. Pools are further away but within a 5-10 minute walking distance.
