Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort at LBV, and booked through Virgin ?

If so, what "area" in the resort were you allocated......or could you chose ?

Ive read from forums that some of the older apartment blocks at the resort are best avoided if possible, so I am wondering if Virgin will already have block booked a certain apartment block for their customers (ie the ones pictured in the brochure), or if its the normal random allocation as if you booked direct.

Maybe just ask Virgin direct. Vistana tend to give out villas based on when you arrive - so if, like us, you arrive on Sunday night it is likely that you will be put in the older part of the resort. If, however, you check in on Friday or Saturday afternoon you may get a better choice of room.

All that said, I was put in Falls, which was apparently the second oldest and worst part of the resort, but it was lovely. It must have been recently rennovated.

I wouldn't worry too much about it because no matter how often you request there is absolutely no guarantee of getting in the newer parts of the resort - the best way to ensure it is buy a timeshare!

So I reckon put in a request for Cascades and Lakes, wait till you get there, see what room they assign you and then if it is not up to scratch kick up a real fuss. They should bend over backwards to accomodate you!

We were actually looking at purchasing a timeshare at the Vistana but were not convinced without having a good look round first and also some of the older sections have received mixed reveiws.

You definitely need to stay at any of the Lakes, Fountains or Cascades sections. The latter being , I believe, the nicest.

Some of the other sections are quite old.

I think part of the allocation depends on which day you arrive but I agree best to check direct with Virgin.

I stayed there with Virgin in 2001 and requested that the second bedroom have two doubles and not two singles and a high floor. I was therefore put in what I was told was a new block on 3rd (top) floor -I think the older blocks only have two single beds in 2nd bedroom. It was very nice and had its own pool area although you needed to drive to the main pool and on-site shop which was a bit of a trek especially in July heat.

We own in spas and have stayed in Falls and one of the other older areas (dont have map to hand). We love the older units, thats why we purchased one. They arent as tall, have better landscaping, ours is so central to everything, literally out of the door, 20 steps and jump in the super pool. Also the older units are bigger than the newer ones.
That said the decor isnt very modern, but spas certainly had new carpets, drapes and white goods last year, they are clean and very well maintained.
You could always e-mail vistana through their website and do the diamond lane check in with your requests.
Any furthur questions fire away.

Oh also every one we have stayed in has had 2 double beds in the 2nd bedroom.
