Has anyone stayed here? I'm trying to decide if we should cancel our 1 bdrm villa at Disney's OKW and go the a 2 bdrm villa at Sheraton Vistana.

If you've been, can you tell me a little about it.

I'm a bit leary because of the HUGE savings we'd be getting. (too good to be true?)

Thanks in advance

If the savings are huge; and the 2 bedroom space is an advantage, I wouldn't hesitate to go with vistana. We've never had a negative experience at Vistana. Of course we've never had one at OKW either. And we belong to both. In today's economy the savings would be the way I would go.:cheer2:

We have not stayed at Sheraton Vistana Resort before BUT we are checking in to this resort on Sunday. I will post pictures after we return (7/14). Not sure if that is too late for you to make a decision.

From what I have learned, many people like this resort alot. The resort is huge with at least 6 different sections. Many people have posted positive reviews about the Cascades and Lakes sections as those are the newest/most recently remodeled. We are staying in the Springs section which is supposed to have large units that are older. Also, there are 3 levels of villas in the Springs but no elevators.

Many people have indicated that the resort is a great location centrally located to everything.

There is a blog a few pages down where some pictures of the Springs units are shown.

Hope this helps a little.
Julie

:cool1: Can't wait for our trip!

We stayed at the Vistana a couple of weeks ago and were delighted with the resort. We had a 2 Bedroom villa in the Lakes section and felt like we had the deal of lifetime at $129/night. I think there is a current offer of $99/night for no housekeeping for August and September.

I posted a review when we got back, but here's the link to pictures from our villa http://picasaweb.google.com/disneyagogo/SheratonVistanaResortJune2008

For the price and convenience, I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Good luck!

We have stayed at the Vistana many times and really enjoyed it until this last time. I just wanted to warn you that we arrived at midnight on 6/27 after a LONG travel day, and recieved a room that was disgusting. It was in the Springs section room 809. As soon as we walked in my DS9 said it smelled like a kennell. There was no possible way we could have stayed there. We had to find a clean hotel nearby, stay overnight, set up the computer and look for a new place to stay. We basically lost a full day of our vacation. Right now we are at Mike Ditkas Lighthouse Key Resort. The resort is only a year old, we are in a three bedroom, it's beautiful but the location stinks.

If your not a smoker, you will certainly smell it. You can also read the reviews on Tripadvisor.com. Sheraton allows smoking in their rooms. Stay at a Marriott. We are staying at the Marriott Grande Vista, 2 bedroom, 2 bath and kitchen....go to website and see photo. You can rent directly with them or go to Redweek.com and rent from a timeshare owner...cheaper than staying on property.

Just got back from Vistana and loved it! We stayed in the Cascades. :thumbsup2 It was very nice and there was no smoke smell to be had (my mom would not have tollerated that).

OKW 1 bedrooms are big---you get all onsite perks (EMH, disney transportation and ME, package delivery). That said, if you're really saving alot---Vistana is a nice offsite alternative. No disney themeing here, but a very FL feel to the resort and beautiful landscaping. I've been an owner since 1994 and stayed every single year since then and never once smelled smoke in our villa. I don't know if I just got lucky all 14 stays or what ? Our room has always been fresh smelling.

Keep in mind, there are 9 different sections/neighborhoods at this resort. Some are older and dated looking. So some of the complaints come from the people who have stayed at the older sections. I own in the mid-range Fountains I and II. Lakes and Cascades are the newest. Lakes was just newly remodeled a few months ago. They are currently working on the Fountains I section.

Not exactly correct despina......
The Sheraton Vistana Resort is one and the sister resort is Vistana Villages. So, the OP did not mention "Villages", so I think we are talking about the villas at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. There really is no "Sheraton Villas". It's either "Sheraton Vistana Resort" or "Sheraton Vistana Villages". The Villages are on International Drive and the main Vistana resort is on SR 535 near Downtown Disney.

I know its villages, but OP said villas and thats what stuck in my head. Ive been to both knowing there are the two.. She said villas, Im then assuming she meant the vistana villages not vistana resort...:flower3:

Fair enough.......but I guess it's the OP that needs to let us know which one they are referring to. Because they could just be using the word "villas" in the subject line to indicate that at the Sheraton Vistana---you do indeed get a villa accomodation ? Who knows :confused3
Even you referred to the name "villas" in your quote despina :
despina says : I stated smoking smell at the Villas

Guess I'm confused because actually, neither resort has the name "villas" in their name. So which one did u smell smoke at ? The main Vistana resort or the Vistana Villages despina ?

The Vistana Villages......your right I dont know which one she means either. :confused3

Wow I have stayed at both and really, did you go to the front desk and complain? That is the only way management would know what was wrong and really it is a large resort and I cannot believe that they would not investigate and take your complaint to heart. There are always breaks in housekeeping because help is hard to find and that most likely is why they are offering two rates on their deals in both locations. YOU absolutely need to write a letter and also call in your complaint. If you lost a day of vacation then that is major in this economy in light of the fact that many people are not even traveling (or maybe foreign business is really up THAT much). Bottom line in this economy, the resort industry needs to make sure everyone is satisfied.

We stayed at Sherton Vistana Resort last week and absolutely loved it. We had a beautifule 2BR villa. The room was awsome... in Lakes section, newly renovated. Pool was great. The resort was nice and quiet. It was aslo very convenient to get to the parks. We were at MK parking lot in 15 mins, Epcot less than 10.

Yes, of course we complained. As soon as we walked it and were overwhelmed by the smell of cat urine mixed with a heavy air freshener, I assume to mask the smell, we called the front desk. I told them there was no way we could stay in the room we were given. We were told to come back to the front desk. Now it is after midnight, we all go to the front desk and we were told that the only rooms available were the old rooms. I was not about to tour all of the old rooms hoping to find one that did not smell. We decided to look for somewhere else to stay and were told we would get a full refund. Of course that was also a problem. They tried to get away with not giving us the refund. Luckily this is our last day in Fl. and my husband was able to go back to the Vistana this morning during check in time and get the refund we were promised. I am just so disgusted with the entire thing. We have stayed at both Sheraton Vistanas at least 5 times each and always loved our stay. Never again.

I can most certainly understand your frustration WeCan'tWait......but this is a rare thing to happen at Vistana. Unfortunately it happened to you & unfortunately things like this can happen at any resort---even disney resorts. It's unbelievable that housekeeping thought you'd be alright with it. They had to have smelled it. :sad2:

But what they did was NOT good enough. You need to contact the corporate office OR it stays at the resort and they never find out. Trust me if you tell them you lost time on your vacation then they WILL take action. I am sure managment would love to keep something like this contained at the reasort.

Yes, I agree. Believe me, as soon as I get back, I will be getting in touch with the corporate office.
