This year I would like to return to Disney but would also like to put in a few days at Universal. So I would like to stay at a place that is convenient to both. The Sheraton Studio City Hotel looks like a good place if a little pricey.

Has anybody stayed there recently? How was their shuttle service to the parks? Any idea where I might find a discounted room? Expedia lists rooms for 79 dollars. Due to some unwelcome and unexpected bills, I'm trying to cut back on expenses so it looks like a short September trip might be feasible. If anybody could give any information about it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again:jester:

We have stayed here twice and I really like this hotel. Its unique and very close to Universal and I-4. Great for the price. I have never used the shuttle system so I cant comment on that. It is located at the far end of I drive right acrossed from Wet and Wild.

Thanks Cindy. It seems like it's a tossup between the Sheraton and the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. The Sheraton definitely looks nicer with its movie theme but the Comfort Inn is much cheaper. Ah, that old struggle between the wallet and desire!

The Sheraton Studio City has been coming up a lot lately on Priceline in the $35 to 38/night range. Might be worth a try.

I definitely need to try Priceline. The cheapest I found so far has been 69 dollars on cheaptickets. Thanks!:earseek:

The i drive bus system was very user friendly. The front desk gave us a schedule. The drop off was right in front of the hotel. We stayed in March and enjoyed our visit very much. It is very close to IHOP and Dennys and 7-11 and Redlobster is across the street. A Walgreens is within walking also.

Again thanks to everyone for the advice. I sent an email to Sheraton asking about their shuttle service; they haven't responded yet. So much for promptness

Thanks Jaynerita. That special definitely helps me to save money.:D

Oh, one other question I have about the Sheraton. The website implies that they are not far from Universal and you might be tempted to walk. Well I like walking but is it really that close to Universal to walk? Is it safe to do so or is the traffic horrendous?

It really is a pretty far walk and the traffic is very heavy. We took a taxi for $5 (for 5) which took us right up to city walk because we didn't want to wait for the shuttle. Then we took the shuttle back at night.

We stayed for two-nights before checking into Disney last month and it was an okay experience. Our room seemed small and we were put into a non-smoking room when we had requested a smoking room. When we called to fix the situation I was basically lectured on how people should stop smoking and the woman I was dealing with told me the story of her quitting after years of smoking and how better she feels. Good for her. We also had concierge service available which was nothing special. Then the kicker was that on checkout we were charged a "resort fee" of $5 a day. The pool was small but nice and had a small wading pool for toddlers. I don't think I would stay here again.

BonSchwe, I'm sorry to hear about the smoking lecture. The forces of do-gooders continue their march. I'm a pipe man myself and can't imagine a day going by without a good pipe smoke. I've crosed the Sheraton off my list of hotels if I go to Orlando. A Holiday Inn is across the street from Universal (or so I've read) and they don't have a $5.00 daily fee. Of course I'm still dreaming of staying on-site.

Dream a little dream...:hyper:
