We just got back last night from a long weekend to WDW and stayed at the Sheraton Safari. I heard mixed reviews about staying here and was a little nervous. There was nothing to be nervous about. This place was wonderful and very clean. Our only problem was there was a conference and a prom at the hotel one night and parking was a big problem. We got a message from the Customer Ambassador asking how things were going. I called her back and mentioned the parking problem. She then sent us coupons for a free breakfast. She also sent up a very cute Disney Princess t-shirt for my DD as a belated birthday present with an adorable birthday card and coupons for 3 personal pizzas. What a surprise that was! I would definitely recommend the Sheraton Safari to anyone and will definitely stay there again.

We have stayed here in the past too. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn't mind staying there again. I thought their employee's were some of the nicest we've met in an offsite hotel in the area.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. I'm thinking it may be an option for us in June if I can get a good deal. How long did it take you to get to the parks? My DH is a little concerned about staying offsite and having to drive in a lot of traffic everyday so we want someplace with an easy and quick commute to the parks each day. Thanks!

We stayed there in October and stayed here, and had no problem with traffic getting to Disney. You are immediately outside the gates of downtown disney.

Like DMRick said - the hotel is about 5 minutes from Downtown Disney. It took us about 15-20 minutes to get to the parks and that was taking our time. I loved the balcony and overlooking the pool. I agree the staff was very nice and pleasant to talk to.

I also stayed there on 12/3 , before we checked Orange Lake. We really liked the room, especially since I got it through Priceline for $49.00. That night was rather noisy, with alot of music playing. What night did you stay?

We were there 12/8-12. We had no noise problems. I love those comfy beds, though. I wish I got a $49 rate. We paid $89 from their website. I was too nervous to use Priceline since I really wanted to stay there. If I get the nerve, I might try Priceline to get this hotel after our cruise in September. What did you pick to get the Sheraton Safari?

Thanks - Renee

Our stay at the Sheraton Safari was via priceline too. We were there in March of 2004 though. We got it for either $37 or $38 a night- I forget which was the correct one. I was soooo excited when this was the property we won. I was so impressed w/ the hotel I wouldn't hesitate to stay here for anything under $100 a night.

I know I picked WDW vicinity- 3*. I did a lot of research though over on www.biddingfortravel.com and I was happy with all the hotels in this zone and category.

I'm so happy to read all of these terrific reviews for the Sheraton Safari. We will be arriving this Thursday for the weekend and picked it predominantly because we are Starwood members and they had a decent rate. We are Swan-lovers, having been there 3 times in the past, so we were hoping this property would be almost as good (walking distance to EPCOT and MGM make the Swan almost unbeatable!).

Well, the Sheraton Safari doesn't really compare to the Swan, but for its location and price difference you can't go wrong. I believe it cost 10,000 Starwood points for one night at the Swan, but only 3,000 at Sheraton Safari. So you could stay 3 nights at the Safari for what it cost for one night at the Swan! If you go in with that attitude, you won't be disappointed. We certainly weren't.

Great info. I was looking into this hotel for June also. I see it is Pet-friendly. Is that ever a problem w/ a clean room or smells. I wouldn't want to have room where a dog or cat was in the room previously. I know I would hope the housekeeping would do I nice job. I wouldn't want any surprises left. This hotel does get good reviews on this board. We usually stay on site value. But this might be a unexpected shorter visit. We may like the choices of restuarants w/our 5 yr old DS.

When we were there, I did not notice any evidence of pets. I didn't find out until after our stay when I was reading another thread that they allowed pets. So, I think you will be ok. I am allergic to dogs and cats and didn't have any symptoms while there.

I wonder if they have a pet friendly building and put all the pets in that building and keep the other buildings pet free?? I do not know this, just wondering out loud.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay.

that was one of the big complaints that pets were allowed.

their website definitely says that pets are allowed.

so if you have problems always check.

No WDW hotels allows pets - only service animals (valid service animals).

I really wish they would....but Spicey doesn't complaint about FW -yet.... :crazy2:

you know they might be changing....

the note on the front page that say pet friendly is now gone.......
