Sheraton safari

Stayed there this past July for $35 thru Priceline. I really liked it. We had a room facing the pool. It was a decent size & clean. Staff were friendly. We had a balcony. The pool was really nice. The kids loved it. The hotel is located in a very convient area... you can walk to resturants. Easy drive to any of the theme parks. Only problem was that when we came in after 10-11pm is was hard getting a parking spot....but then again, I have paid big bucks for a hotel & not been able to get a spot.

Just wondering how far in advance you tried Priceline to get that price for a 3*. I'm up to $40 for May 2-5 and have not been successful. I would love to stay at the Sheraton Safari. Their website states $99+ tax. Best price I've found so far is $77 including tax at Hotelmart USA

Actually it was only $25 cash, there was $10 bonus money from Priceline (making the real total $35). I booked in in Feb 03 for a July 03 stay. With Priceline it just all depends on what they have at the time you are trying... Like I said, I did that in Feb for July, yet in July when I wanted to try to add days to my stay... I ended up having to drop from a 3* to a 2* to stay in my price range. I was getting turned down at $35...went to a 2* & got it for $21. So it really just depends on what Priceline has access to ...and it changes all the time.

There's no telling on when or if a particular hotel will make rooms available to Priceline. It all depends on availability and inventory.

For instance, I won a bid for the Safari for a xmas trip, 12/24-21/28. We were able to use some bonus money and only had to bid $24.00 per night. But we bid this way back in March, or nine months in advance. There are also others who have bid and won the Safari for travel within days of their bid. You can never tell.

The best advice I can give you is to make a cancellable reservation at a hotel you would be comfortable staying. Then monitor what has been won and at what bid at BiddingForTravel.com , a really great website with alot of information on Priceline, bidding strategies, and winning bid history.

I also won a bid for a July stay at the Dolphin by seeing that it was coming up frequently for June stays. It like fishing that way, when the fish are biting, you'll catch a lot of fish. When their not, well... you drink a lot of beer. ;)

We tried it last year and are staying there again this year. Great location. Kids love the snake slide. Has a hot tub. Has lots of fast food places very, very close. Clean. Had no complaints.
