Sheraton Safari & shuttle info

I'm staying at the Sheraton Safari the last week of September/first week of October. I've got two rooms booked, as I am taking my 5 kids there by myself. We are doing only Disney. I really didn't want to rent a car, mostly because without DH there, I thought it would be a hassle to rent and I'm kind of nervous to drive around in an unfamiliar area with 5 kids. I'm wondering how others have found the shuttle service from the hotel to the parks. Also, when they say things are within walking distance, would it be feasible to walk to restaurants, etc. from the hotel, or not? Thanks for any tips or suggestions!!!

There is a list of the restaurants in the area about 1/2 way down and the park shuttle schedule is down at the bottom of the page.
