The Safari is one of my favorite off-site hotels. Very close to DTD and many restaurants. I've always had a great stay there - rooms are clean, good pool with a great slide, etc.

We've stayed there via priceline. It is our favorite off-site resort. I would check the reviews board here on the DIS. I know there are a handful of reviews for this property.

We just styaed here on Dec 21/06. We liked it - room was clean, service was good. We got a rate of $59 on Travelzoo.

My son and I stayed there in 2003. He LOVED it. He still talks about the snake waterslide and the alligators in the lobby. Can't tell you about driving times, we took taxis back and forth from the parks.

How is the shuttle service from this hotel? Does it service all the Disney Parks or just Magic Kingdom. Please respond as I found a great rate on gtahotels.com.

i'm also interested ... read mixed reivews on tripadvisor, so I'm bit hesitant. Do i need to rent a car to disney? Is cab service readily available from the hotel? I figure I can use combination of bus/cab service, since the buses do not run that frequently.

Never used the shuttle, but it does run to all WDW parks and DTD. This schedule if from August 2005, but gives you an idea:

Thank you, that schedule helped. I think I'll call the hotel and ask about the current shuttle service. I'm particularly interested in how it'll work on the evenings of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween....Will the buses run late for the special events???? I'll post back with info.

We stayed there for a few nights last fall and it was nice. A hotel with balcony is always nice for me though (which is a pricey thing to get at Disney). Staff was great. Be sure to join the Sheraton frequent travelers club. We were upgraded to a room overlooking the pool. There are good restautants within walking distance - just not that Sizzler next door.
