Sheraton Park? Anyone stayed there?

Thanks for the info, guys! I've just emailed the Sheraton to ask about the Club Level upgrade, so I'll wait and see what their answer is. I noticed that internet at this hotel is NOT complimentary, however, the on the https://spgpromos.com/internet/ website it states:

Internet. On the house
GET FREE INTERNET WHEN YOU BOOK ON SPG.COM, OUR HOTEL BRAND SITES OR SPG APPS.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Will this Sheraton honour that? If so, then the only extra for me to pay will be parking. I had been leaning towards staying at the Best Western Anaheim Inn, since it is almost directly opposite the park entrance and includes breakfast, internet and parking. But if I can get this upgrade to Club Level for just 6000 more points, then I think I'll probably chose the Sheraton.

I wasn't aware of this promotion, it seems to be fairly new. I just checked my reservation, and it reads "wi-fi internet available for a fee", so this deal is apparently not honoured at the Sheraton Park.

The Sheraton Park does offer free wifi in their lobby. The club rooms are on a high floor, with the "non-Disneyland view" rooms facing the pool and the lobby. We noticed that, after logging into the internet in the lobby, we were still able to access wifi in the room without paying for it. I think twice during our one week stay we lost the connection, but all we had to do was return to the lobby and reconnect. There are also three computers in the lobby for guests, and one was always available if I wanted to use a computer rather than my daughter's iPad. There is also one computer available in the concierge lounge.

I remember reading a post a couple of months back (I think on this forum, but maybe elsewhere) that from the Disneyland view rooms, it is possible to access the free wifi from the hotel immediately north of the Sheraton Park (the Portofino Inn). I don't know if that is still the case.

On a side note: as a Canuck (Canadian) I am always pleased to exchange messages with someone who uses "the Queen's English" (e.g., "honour" rather than "honor"). You'll notice when you arrive in Anaheim that the Americans insist that the Sheraton Park is located on "Harbor Blvd." and not "Harbour Blvd." I met three sets of Aussies last August during my Sheraton Park stay, the hotel must be popular with your fellow compatriots.

Thanks for your observation, that yes, not many choices for someone that has gluten issues. But, I am confident that Sheraton will help me out. Thanks so much for your input!!

When are you staying there? Will you report back about the gluten-free options? We will be there in August, and I am GF and vegan, and I was expecting there wouldn't be much for me to eat. It is still worthwhile to have the club level, because my kids will eat plenty and I can have fruit, veggies, maybe the oatmeal, water, juice, and wine ;).

But if they have GF options or can/will make accommodations, that opens up a whole bunch of new options. I didn't even think to ask.

I will let you know after we stay there. We will be there the 3rd week in July. I plan on calling the hotel the first part of July. I felt the same as you, it is still well worth it to have my kids eat food there too!

Hmm.. I wonder why they have upgraded to a category 4. Yes, we are totally excited about it!
Category upgrades are based on changes in average daily rates at the hotel. I find that the cash price is consistently more than I remember oaying 3 to 4 years ago, so I'm not surprised that it increased to Category 4. -- Suzanne

I believe it is honoured there. The booking will still say the usual "wi-fi internet available for a fee", but the SPG booking thing should override that.

Done! They have upgraded my room to club level for my 6 night stay! And I'm already using a fairly good AAA rate. My reservation at the Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn is about the same price as the Sheraton Park; the only difference is parking is not included in the Sheraton rate. So the Sheraton will cost me about an extra $96. I liked the idea of the easy walk to the Parks from the BWPAI, but I think for the days we are not going into the Parks it will be nicer to be staying in the Sheraton. Good decision?

Although I've never stayed at the BWPAI, I think you've made the right decision. I've always thought that the hotels along Harbor near the Disneyland entrance charge more than is justified for the convenience of having a short walk. We used to stay at the Ramada Maingate next door to the BWPAI, but once my daughters got older, we decided we'd rather stay at nicer hotels farther away for roughly the same price than stay along harbor. In regards to the Sheraton Park, I like hanging out in the pool area during our down time. Plus, most evenings from around 9pm I hang out in the concierge lounge watching TV, eating snacks, and drinking coffee. Very rare that anyone else even enters the lounge during the 1 hour or so I unwind there in the evening. Plus, while in the lounge, I have access to my own "private" bathroom and don't have to fight with my wife and teenage daughters to get access to the hotel room bathroom.

We always go to and from Disneyland using the Toy Story parking lot. If you've never used the Toy Story bus, be sure to investigate that possibility, especially when returning from the park. The walk from the Sheraton Park to the Toy Story parking lot is roughly 1/2 the walk to Disneyland, although the time spent is probably slightly longer if you take into account loading and unloading time at the bus stops.

I've read the fine print on the free wi-fi deal, and I think you are correct. It appears Gold and Platinum members should get free "Premium" internet, and Preferred members (like me) get free "Standard" internet.

We are headed to Sheraton Park for the first time next week! I wondered where you can buy coffee in the morning. Is there a lil cafe in the lobby? If so, how early does it open? Also, thanks for the tip about the Toy Story parking lot shuttles. I didn't think about that option. Is it difficult to actually get to the shuttle loading area via walking if you're not driving into the parking lot? I hope my question makes sense.

There is a cafe/store in the hotel and it serves Starbucks Coffee I believe. Easy place to get toast or a bagel for a quick breakfast.

Just saw your post, so not sure if you will get my reply in time to be of use for you.

Very easy to get to the shuttle. From the Sheraton Park, head south to Convention Way, then cross Harbour. You want to stay on the North side of Convention Way. As soon as you enter the parking lot, there is an open gate leading to one of the actual parking areas. You can either go through the gate and walk through the parking lot (heading east) or continue to follow the sidewalk past the vehicle payment booths and to the busses. Except for one occasion, for us the busses have always loaded on the north side of the "traffic circle". The other time we were directed by an employee to use a crosswalk to go to the south side of the traffic circle. We've never had an employee give us any hassle for using their busses, it seems to be 100% acceptable to Disneyland.

The following satellite view should make the route pretty clear:

Awesome, thank you. This is exactly what I was wondering about. We are going to try out the walk from Sheraton Park to the Esplanade on our first day there, and see what we think. If anything, I think it would be nice to take the Toy Story bus back at the end of the day after walking around all day. I heard someone else bought tickets for the ART shuttle, but if Disney doesn't mind people using the Toy Story buses, I don't see why anyone would pay for the other shuttle.

We usually walk back to the Sheraton Park so we can stop at either the ABC Mart, 7-11, or CVS to pick up drinks and snacks to have in our room or for the next day in the parks. The walk is about 10 minutes or a bit longer depending on the light at Katella.

I would check about the Internet when you get there. I think free internet when you stay on the club floor is supposed to be a brand standard.

That's a good idea...we are driving, so we were planning on grabbing a few things at the Target nearby when we first arrive, but it might be nice to have a cold drink or something on our way back to the hotel. Have ever felt unsafe at midnight walking down this street? We usually stay at the Garden Grove Sheraton and take the shuttle, so I'm not too familiar with what Anaheim is like at night.

We walk back every time we stay there and have never felt unsafe. The street is well lit and there are other guests walking back and forth to the parks at all hours (it seems!).

We just checked in yesterday (June 28) for a six day stay at the Sheraton Park, Club Level. To clarify a few things from this thread:

They are giving us free internet in our room, but not because of the promotion SomeGuyInOz referred to. Apparently, they give free internet to all guests who are staying at the Club Level, but not to other guests. When my daughters connect to the internet, we still have to log in using room number and last name, and there is a message saying our room will be billed $10/day or so for using the internet, but the front desk assures me that at check out time there will be no charge for internet.

My detailed comments about club food on the first page of this thread (based upon my August/2014 stay) are still more or less correct. There seems to be one major change regarding drinks. At breakfast, they put out juice as before, and apparently put any left over juice into a fridge. At supper (5pm) they put coke, diet coke, sprite, and bottled water into the fridge. As near as I can figure, they make no effort to restock the fridge, other than putting out juice in the morning and soft drinks/water in the evening. I just checked out the club lounge (1pm), and the fridge is totally empty. I think guests should assume that they can only get drinks during breakfast time and supper time (juice in the morning and soft drinks/bottled water in the evening). So, for example, tonight I'm going to grab 2 bottles of coke for me to consume tomorrow at the park. Beer and wine is still free from 5pm to 7pm (Heinekin, Bud, Bud Light, and Samuel Adams, plus four types of wine).

The hot entrees last night were pizza (3 types: vegie, cheese and bacon) and mini barbecued smokies. The pizza wasn't very good, but my teenage daughters both loved it. Smokies were pretty good.

The problem was that a lot of the food was gone by 5:30. Pizza, buns, nacho chips, and guacamole were totally gone, and the vegi tray was reduced to just cauliflower and broccoli. It wasn't until 5:55 that the buns and nacho chips were refreshed. We left the lounge shortly after, and the pizza tray and vegi tray were still bare.

I checked again at 6:50pm, and there were new hot entrees of mini corn dogs and bean chimichangas. Both quite good.

I guess the point I want to make is this: had I been one of the people that entered the lounge around 5:30 and stayed for half an hour, I would have been annoyed at the lack of food. Unless guests are in the lounge at 5pm, the food offerings may be fairly lean.

***********

The other point I want to make: I mentioned in an earlier post that I upgraded to club level using points I purchased at the rate of $26.25/1000 points. With breakfast, snacks, and supper hour (including free alcohol) my family of four is getting an excellent deal for $26.25 per day. But let's face it: the club lounge isn't "The Napa Rose". The food quality may not be up to everyone's standards. Last night, we overheard one mother say to her kids: "hurry up and finish eating, so we can go to a restaurant to eat." I suspect they were not quite as happy with the food as we are.

Thank you for sharing this. I have reserved a club level room for us for a week's stay in August, and one of the main reason I selected this hotel and chose club level was because of the food and drink options that are rolled in to the hotel room cost. But now I am worried, and from what I have read about club level at other hotels (including on site) I am thinking maybe it isn't worth it for us. My kids will probably eat food, if it is available, and I'd love the access to free wine in the evenings, but if the food will be sparse, and there will be people hoarding the food (I've read that about on site club level), and if the food won't be replenished, the stress of "OMGhurryupweneedtogetfoodbeforeitisgone!!!!!!!!!" is going to suck the fun out of our trip. Ugh. Now I'm not sure what to do, and I wonder if staying elsewhere is a better idea.

I think anyone who expects the evening hor d'ouvres to replace a meal is going to be disappointed. It's only meant to be a snack.

Is this a passive-aggressive reply to my post? If so, I'm not expecting hors d'oeuvres to replace a meal. I am expecting people to behave respectfully and not pile all of the food onto their own plate, leaving nothing for others. I'm expecting hotel staff to make sure that all of the club level members have access to the food and drinks that are included in their room rate. If breakfast, beverages, and hors d'oeuvres are included in my room rate, I expect to be able to enjoy those things without stress or worry.
