We have some points to use, so even though I would love to stay at DLR hotel, free, is free. So, I have read reviews on Trip advisor, but DISSERS I trust more!!!

What was your experience there? How was the mile walk??

Thanks in advance!

i stayed there in 2013.
it was a nice hotel.
i'd say its more pricey than its worth because its just a nice hotel and not a luxury hotel.
i enjoyed the hot tub after going to the parks all day.

you can either walk to the parks or you can walk across the street and hop on the toy story parking lot bus to the parks.
i tried both and both are fine.
the walk to the parks was not bad at all.
and i liked the toy story parking lot bus for at night to get back to the hotel.

We stayed there in 2013 and loved it. We had a corner room which provided tons of windows and light. We were on an upper floor so the view from the balcony was fun. We liked being able to get coffee at the snack shop, the pool was fine and the walk was doable. Toward the end of our trip I rode the shuttle available at the hotel to and from the park. We'd stay there again.

I liked it & thought it was an easy walk to the parks. Staying again at the end of the month, so it can't be too bad.

My family & I love the Sheraton Park! Great service, comfy beds, nice pool area, and just a much higher-end hotel than any non-Disney within walking distance. We always walk across the street to the Toy Story lot to use the free shuttles, as any way to save our feet is welcome! I definitely recommend it, especially if its free with your points!

We have stayed there 2x and most resently last March during Spring Break. We love the Sheraton Park.....the pool area is very nice as it is in the middle of the complex and surrounded by palm trees so very relaxing compared to some where the pool is stuck in the parking lot o_O

We have stay Club Level both times and have always requested a Disney view room with a full balcony so we can watch the fireworks on arrival night.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the beds are great after a long day at the parks.

The walk is very easy and only about 15-20 minutes or so and there is a brand new CVS on the corner now which is great for grabbing snacks etc should you want.

Sheraton Park is our go to hotel when we go to DLR.

I've stayed twice. The walk was OK, not something I would want to do often with little kids though. We went in off season so we weren't trekking back and forth between the hotel and the Parks a couple of times a day. What I did like about it was the pool area and the fact that it was a 'full service' hotel with room service and pool side food/adult beverages. When we stayed they were offering a room credit per night which covered our breakfast and then some which definitely sweetened the deal. We stayed on the 6th/7th floor during our stays and faced the parks affording us a view of the fireworks.

Glad to see the positive reviews. We are staying there with points on our arrival day. I had not thought about the Toy Story shuttle. I think we will try that out!

Thanks for the tip about the Toy Story bus. That's a great tip!! I noticed, it is a bit pricey, so I'm glad I'm staying on points.

I'm hoping for a great room with a view!! Thanks for the input!

Well, yes, if you're staying there again, that's a good sign. I'm looking forward to a fun trip!

The beds are a nice perk at the Sheraton chains for sure!! The free shuttles will be nice!! Thanks for the input!

I am hoping to be upgraded to club level!! That wasn't an option to book it using my points. A balcony Disney view would be an added bonus for sure!! Thanks for the tip about CVS. Any snacks bought outside the park, always helps the pocket book!!

We will see how well the kids do trying to go back for a rest during the day, if it's a bit far. The full service hotel is a nice bonus. Sitting by the pool with a drink midday in July will be nice for sure!

We plan on the shuttle too! Should be fun!!

You can book club level on points by calling SPG. The current rate is 11,000 points per night (with 5th night free). If you booked before March 10 ( when the hotel changed from category 3 to 4) or on a special rates (such as Nights and Flights), then ask for the upgrade at check in. It should be 1000 points per night. If you booked after March 10 and are not on a rate that requires booking a standard room, you can call and cancel the standard room in favor of a club level room (assuming it's available). -- Suzanne

Please let us know how the phone call goes. I'm curious to see if your experience matches up with mine.

Around a month ago, I made a 4 day reservation starting June 28 (cash, not points), then phoned SPG to use 1000 points/night to upgrade to club. I was told that I could not do the upgrade until 5 days before check in (June 23 in my case).

I then contacted the hotel via email, and discovered they would do the upgrade immediately, with no need to wait until June 23. The 4000 points have now been taken from my account, and my reservation upgraded to Club. Since Club level is important to us, we were unwilling to gamble on the upgrade being available on June 23.

If you are unable to book a club room via the 1-800 phone number, I recommend you contact the hotel directly (I can provide email addresses, if you need them).

We first stayed at the Sheraton Park (club level) in August 2014. It immediately became our favourite hotel in the Disneyland area. We stayed there again at Christmas, and will be staying there again in the summer. Alas, as SuzanneSLO has pointed out, the hotel has recently changed from a category 3 to a category 4. The Sheraton Garden Grove (a mile or so south of the Sheraton Park) is still a category 3, but is not quite as nice or convenient as the Park.

I think the difference is between booking a club room entirely on points (call SPG to book at current cost of 11,000 points per night) and upgrading a cash reservation with points (SPG has limits on this, but the hotel itself is more flexible). We have never been unable to upgrade to club when checking in, but it's nice to know e-mailing the hotel in advance is an option. -- Suzanne

I called and they had Club level available with points. We are staying 5 nights, club level for 44,000 SPG points!! SO happy!! What types of foods do you remember for Breakfast and snacks? Just curious?

No issues at all. I guess they have some rooms set aside for "club level with points". Sometimes they are not always available. Just happy we'll be at Club level. Can you give me an idea of their offerings for Breakfast and the afternoons. Just curious how much variety there will be????

As a side note, when we were staying at a Sheraton in Austria 2 years ago, they automatically upgraded us at check in for Club level and a suite!! So, many times it might just depend on the property you stay at!!

Last August, we stayed at four hotels we hadn't stayed at before, so I instructed my family to make detailed notes on all the hotels so we would know which was our preferred hotel for future visits. As a consequence, I have lots of detailed notes about the food which was served at the Sheraton Park.

BREAKFAST
- quaker oatmeal "bowls" (rip off lid, add hot water)
- individual packages of cold cereal
- cold hardboiled eggs
- fruit plate (probably similar to evening fruit tray, but I made no notes)
- Danishes and pastries
- individual white milk (skim, 2%, whole) and chocolate milk
- individual yogurt (raspberry, peach, greek)
- two or three types of bread, toaster
- Tropicana individual juice bottles (orange, apple, cranberry, and on occasion grapefruit)

SNACKS (available during the day, evenings)
- individual juice bottles as described above
- packages of peanuts and trail mix
- large "home made" style cookies wrapped in plastic wrap (chocolate chip, raisin oatmeal, macadamia nut)
- bottled water, cans of coke and diet coke
- packages of hot chocolate mix
- I think apples and oranges, but not mentioned in my notes, so perhaps not

EVENING (I think from 5pm to 7pm)
- white milk, juice, coke, diet coke
- buns, no bread; butter
- meat tray - ham and chicken deli style meat, also slices of "real" ham
- vegie tray (broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, carrots, some nights also cherry tomatoes), ranch dip
- cheese selection with several types of crackers (cheddar, swiss, "white" cheese, sometimes also pepper jack)
- fruit tray (cantaloupe, honey dew melon, watermelon, pineapple)
- sometimes humus dip
- taco chips with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole
- hot entrees changed every day (see below)

HOT ENTREES - mostly deep fried, two at a time, sometimes a third and fourth appears if they run out of the first two entrees
DAY 1 - mini corn dogs and chicken teriyaki Satays (satays were excellent); later deep fried battered mushrooms when Satays ran out
DAY 2 - chicken pot stickers and chicken quesadillas; later spinach pastries and vegetable spring rolls, when all the chicken ran out
DAY 3 - sweet corn fritters, chicken chimichangas
DAY 4 - vegetable spring rolls and mini chicken cordon bleus
DAY 5 - meatballs in barbecue sause, chicken and bean chimichangas
DAY 6 - deep fried mozzarella cheese sticks, chicken and cheese empanadas
DAY 7 - bacon wrapped scallops (I never wrote down the second choice; why bother even checking if all you can eat bacon wrapped scallops are available?)

FREE ALCOHOL (from 5pm to 7pm)
- two white wine, two red wine
- beer (bud, bud light, Heineken, Samuel Adams)
- mixed drinks (mai tais and similar drinks)
- Shirley Temples and Roy Rogers drinks for kids
- more expensive drinks available for purchase

MISC.
- fancy coffee machine available 24 hours (regular coffee, expresso, lattes; steamed milk makes excellent hot chocolate)
- variety of tea bags available (I think) all day, but maybe just at breakfast and supper

HINTS
- my daughters prefer chocolate milk, so in the morning we'd take a couple of chocolate milk and store them in our room fridge, then take them down for supper (which, of course, resulted in many people asking us at supper: "where did you get the chocolate milk?")
- my daughters made hot chocolate every day using steamed milk from the coffee machine, instead of hot water
- we each made a sandwich every evening (bun with meat and cheese) which we kept in the room fridge overnight and ate for lunch at the park (sandwiches stayed cool by storing them beside cold pop cans and juice bottles)

WOW, THANKS SO MUCH FOR this DETAILED LIST!!! Now my next endeavor is to call the Hotel and inquire about Gluten free. I am Celiac, there are not many choices.........

Thanks again!!

Well, I guess you wouldn't go hungry in the Sheraton Park lounge, but other than the vegie, meat, and cheese trays you wouldn't be able to eat very much (I think there may have been packages of gluten free cold cereal available at breakfast, but I'm not 100% certain). In terms of the hot entrees, I imagine the chicken satays and bacon scallops would be the only gluten free choices.

I suspect, though, that the hotel will provide some (free) non-gluton options for you in the club lounge, if you give them sufficient warning. If nothing else, I bet they have gluten free bread, crackers, and pastries available upon request.

Thanks for your observation, that yes, not many choices for someone that has gluten issues. But, I am confident that Sheraton will help me out. Thanks so much for your input!!

Gotta love Disboards!! I just upgraded my points stay to Club level. Seeing the offerings in the lounge made me realize we would save money that we would spend on food! :) Woot woot! :yay:

Agreed. Last August, during our 7 day stay at the Sheraton Park we didn't spend a penny on food. We spent an additional ten days at other hotels, so those days we bought food at Disneyland and at a couple of restaurants along Harbor.

Right now (until the end of May) there is a 25% off sale on points on the Starwood (Sheraton) website. A person can buy 20k points for $525. That works out to $26.25 per 1000 points. So, an upgrade to concierge at the Sheraton Park can be had for only $26.25. In my case (me, my wife, and two teenage daughters) we definitely get our moneys worth. Although, last summer, I admit that I probably drank more free beer each evening than is healthy...

I had worked out that it made financial sense to buy points at 25% off and use them to book 5 day point stays at the Sheraton Park. So, my wife and I each purchased 20k points during the last sale in Dec/2014. Unfortunately, the Sheraton Park recently going from a category 3 to a category 4 threw off my calculation (it's now cheaper to pay cash for a stay than to use my points to book a 5 day point stay). Fortunately, I can always cash in points 1000 at a time for an upgrade to club level, so I'll eventually be able to use up all the points I purchased. The other alternative for me is that the Garden Grove Sheraton is still a category 3, so I can always book a 5 day point stay there (I wonder how long it will be before the Garden Grove Sheraton also upgrades to a category 4).
