Sheraton Hotels Questions

Can anyone comment on how the Sheraton Park compares to the Sheraton Anaheim? We are SPG members and will definitely stay at a Starwood hotel... just wondering which is better.

I am interested to hear if you could combine calling for a club level room at 8000 and getting that 5th night free. I thought that was across the board, not just for booking online. Oh well, we are still a long way off.

Yes. You can book for 8000 points per night for club level with the 5th night free. You need to call to book. -- Suzanne

Thanks SuzanneSLO. Since the summer we have added 5 nights in San Diego (for a total of 10 in Cali). I am still 10,000 points short for our June dates if I want to upgrade to club at the Sheraton Park and then get all of San Diego on points.

So, another SPG question - why on earth won't the computer accept my standard room on points with 5th night free if I try to add the whole family? It will only allow one adult. DH is going to call. I guess if we get to April and have the extra points we will try to ask for paying 1000 more per night for the club upgrade.

And a generic SPG question - For SD we have enough points to pay for 3 nights. Still working on nights 4 and 5. Maybe I should make 2 separate ressies and reserve nights 4/5 with a credit card? Again, DH is going to call in hopes that they will allow us to pay in points later in the spring.

Honestly, I would just call. The website isn't always the easiest to navigate. They can make sure all the kids and adults are included on the reservation. For San Diego they can help you book a multi rate plan with points for part of you stay and paid for the rest. Or maybe cash and points. You have a lot of options in San Diego.

So a tax question - when staying at Sheraton Park on points, am I going to rack up a lot of extra taxes and fees charged to my credit card? I know about self parking, but what about resort taxes and internet fees, etc.

There should be no fees or taxes when booking a room strictly on points. I did it last year and the Sheraton Park and had no additional cost. Going there again in May. Lovely hotel and great staff for my visit.

Unless you have status with Starwood, there is a $10 per day charge for internet access in your room. There are computers available with internet access in the lobby. -- Suzanne

The continental breakfest on the club level was great for us, becuase it was all ready to go. Yogurt, fruit, breads, juice, cereals, milk and water. Pasteries were there as well. We rolled up there in our pajamas before starting the day. Also you can take as many bottles of water and juice, which I always loaded up on instead of paying for them at DL.

Long time relying. This time, due to SouthWest issues in Philly, we have air points expiring at the end of October.

We were planning and packed for a WDW trip until the new health issue put a stop to that.

So here we are now ill, sad, and sick and I hear it is raining a lot in Orlando, making a plan 'b' for DLR in 30 days.

We now have five full days planned.

We have the Sheraton Anaheim, been there in 2003, and the Sheraton Park.

Any recommendations on the the two. Walking would be harder. So a walkable location is not mandatory. I like the dedicated shuttle from the Sheraton Anaheim. Haven't heard good things about the shared shuttles. Thought i heard the toy story lot was blocked off. Any idea on taxi cost/plentifulness?

It would be nice to be near food of some kind. Since we have an employee rates, we'd rather save that monies. No half price food there.

All of this must be completely changeable, dropable if an attack strikes.


I am trying to get excited, not too much though repeating that a coupon/ voucher doesn't 'have' to be used.

We stay quite a bit at the Sheraton Anaheim and like it a lot. But food options in that area are pretty slim. You can walk down the street about 5 minutes and go to Starbucks, taco bell and a convince store at the corner of Ball and Harbor Blvd but other than that, not a whole lot around there. Sometimes we order Chinese food or pizza but often go across the street from DL after we leave for the day and go to pizza port and then come back to the spot where the bus picks up for the hotel. That way I don't have to drive anywhere when we get back to the hotel.

SpiritedHaunts, in August, we stayed for a week at the Sheraton Park, club level, and loved it. Alas, as you point out, there is no easy transportation method to Disneyland from there. I've only used the ART shuttle once, and really hated it because the schedule was so unpredictable.

In addition to the Sheraton Anaheim, you may wish to consider the Sheraton Garden Grove further south along Harbor. They do have a shuttle, but the information posted on the web about it is contradictory, so a few weeks ago I contacted the hotel via email for clarification. The following is accurate as of September 10.

The Sheraton Garden Grove has a shuttle which they share with the nearby Wyndham and Residence Inn. Two return trips per hour: leave hotel at :15 and :45, leave Disneyland at :00 and :30. $3 per person per day, with kids aged nine and under free.

I suspect the money you save by staying at the Sheraton Garden Grove (relative to the Sheraton Anaheim) would more than cover the cost of the shuttle. I've booked my first Sheraton Garden Grove stay for Christmas, so I can't comment on the hotel one way or the other. And, I've never stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim, either, so likewise. But, I can say that, as a result of my Sheraton Park stay in August, I've definitely joined the Sheraton Cult. More specifically, the Sheraton Disneyland Sub-cult, if such a thing exists...

Plenty of places to get food near the Sheraton Park since its right along Harbor.

I find it not a bad walk but sounds like that may not be an option for you. Even if driving I still would want to be as close as possible to the gate. In that area an extra drive can take longer than it seems with traffic. I'd just prefer to have the shortest trip possible. I'm an Sheraton/SPG person but I only consider the Park, none of the others, because distance is #1 for me at DLR.

(Although in practice I often end up just paying to stay onsite since its our vacation and we don't mind paying for higher quality/shorter distance. And this short trip I'm staying across the street for the shortest walk possible.)

Thanks. I am remembering that last time we thought about doing this we decided to wait until we could stay on site. Too much happening right now to really think clearly. All good advice. We are going to see if the cost of taxis, both ways from the Park hotel, would make the cost still a wee less than than the Anaheim.

The unofficial guide lists the Park at 17 min walk. With bad balance et. all. and even using an off site wheelchair to walk, sit, and ride might be too much of a walk too.

Again I hear the ART is erratic and adds about $20 for the two of us per day.

We may need to save up a lot more a trip here.


Usually a WDW costs the flight, tickets, under a hundred dollar a night room with half off food, two actual friends, and total immersion.

You are right about the ART. Save yourself a lot of grief and do not stay anywhere that uses the ART bus. It is very unreliable.

so what have your issues been with the art. we are leaning to the sheraton anaheim right now today since we have a better deal there, a dedicated shuttle and the Park employees seem so mad to be there.

I've only used the ART shuttles once, for a three day stay at the Comfort Inn east down Katella. On day one, we got off to a poor start when the first shuttle of the day was 20 minutes late. I asked the driver about it, and he said that he had to make a stop to use the washroom. Had the bus been on time, I would have been in line for Radiator Springs fastpasses by 7:40am. Since it arrived late, I wasn't able to enter the fastpass line until 8:10am or so. Days 2 and 3 the bus arrived at the hotel on schedule, so day 1 seems to have been a fluke.

My bigger complaint is taking trips later in the day. It appeared to me that there is no real schedule that can be counted on. So, all you can do is go to the stop (at either the hotel or Disneyland) and hope that a shuttle didn't just leave 2 minutes earlier. More often than not, it seemed like our wait was around 15 minutes or so. Not the end of the world, but annoying nevertheless.

I definitely would prefer a shuttle with more reliable departure times such as the shuttles at the Sheraton Anaheim and the Sheraton Garden Grove.

Do you ever stay at the club level when you stay at Sheratons? We (me, wife, two teenage daughters) stayed at the Sheraton Park for one week in August, club level. We were all very impressed with the hotel. For that entire week, we didn't have to spend a penny on food. The big negative, of course, is that we had to return to the hotel at 5pm or so for supper hour, but since we are always at the parks for opening, we usually are ready to call it a day by 3pm or so. Each night at supper we each made a sandwich which we put in our room fridge overnight and ate at noon the next day inside Disneyland. I also appreciated the free beer and alcoholic drinks at the Sheraton Park, something the other two Sheratons apparently don't offer.

That stay was (hopefully) our first of many stays at the Anaheim Sheratons. I've even signed up for a Sheraton AMEX credit card, with 10000 bonus points. Because of the $120 yearly fee, I don't know if I'll renew in one years time, but the bonus points more than make up for the initial $120 yearly fee.
