DH, Martyn, 28, hates malls loves fast rides, wants to know when the next Rocky road is coming from.
DD, Lucy, 3, Wants to live in the World of Disney store, and grow up to become a real Princess.
MIL, Sheila, 48, loves malls and fast rides and boxes of Franzia!
FIL, Rob, 50, loves to shout "Yeehaw" in public places at top of his voice.

Friday 10th June

The alarm went off at 4:15 and i'm the first one up. Martyn is awake but lies in bed till Im done in the bathroom. We get washed and dressed and wake Lucy up at 5. She jumps out of bed very excited and repetitively shouts "were going to america today are'nt we Mummy". She gets her teeth brushed and washed without the normal hassle that we have to endure on a daily basis and we are all ready by 5:15. Martyn's parents arrive at 5:30, by now everyone is very excited and we just want to get to the airport. The taxi was booked for 6 and he is on time. We load the 5 cases 2 bags and the 5 pieces of hand luggage onto the mini bus and were off. :Pinkbounc

We got to Manchester airport within half an hour and we head straight to the bag drop off as we had checked in online the previous day. This goes smoothly and we decide to go straight through security and hit the duty free.

First things first though and thats breakfast. The diet has gone out of the window for 3 weeks so its a burger king. I have a sausage and egg roll and Martyn and his dad have a whopper meal.I dont recall what Lucy had but Sheila had a sandwich she had bought earlier. When we were finished Martyn and Rob thought we should walk down to the gate as the area isn't very big
and we wouldn't get seats if we left it much longer. We get there and Sheila and I head straight back down to Duty free and we easliy spend £200 between us on perfume, aftershave, creams a bratz doll and some barbie snap cards for Lucy. We then head for WH smiths and the line in there is huge. For all the Manchester United fans - John o'Shea was buying some sunglasses, in the Duty Free - probably to hide from people like me! Sheila goes back down to the gate and i queue up to buy some mags and water for us. By the time i get back to the gate the flight is opened and were boarding.

Lucy having a little snooze. She insisted on wearing the eye mask

We get a bus down to the plane as we are walking on from the tarmac. The plane is aptly named Hotlips. The seats are prebooked, so were all sat together. We take off on time and the captain in forms us the flight will be arriving earlier then scheduled. The flight is long but Lucy is very good and loves flying. She sleeps for a little under and hour and wakes asking are we there yet? The food is ok and the flight was a bit bumpy but we get there 45 minutes early!

Me.

As the doors finally open, we all bask in the warm air flowing around the stale aeroplane atmosphere .We collect the bags for the first time and thats goes fine. Then its onto have our pics and fingerprints taken. We have filled our visa forms in correct and were through to the 2nd baggage claim. We turn around to see were Rob and sheila are and they have been turned back as FIL has missed a section on the visa form, :rotfl: but none the less they are through within minutes. Collect the bags again and then down to Dollar to get the cars. This takes about 20 minutes to get both cars sorted and then its over to pick them up. We get a Chrysler PT Cruiser and Rob and Sheila get a Dodge Neon. We got the platninum car insurance so we got a car seat for Lucy and it was very clean - so much so that it was wrapped up in a dry cleaning bag! After our feeble attempts, the Dollar man fits the seat for us.

We get on the road and arrive at ASMO about half and hour and 2 toll roads later and we didn't get lost. Check in goes fine and get our room keys vouchers for the cups (we got 4 instead of 2) And the same with the cinema tickets. Before we go and find the rooms we decide to exchange the cup vouchers and get a drink. Were in rooms 9830 and 9831 in Toy Story. The room is great, just what we need. Lucy loves the theme and thinks it great that theres a tv. We all have a shower and then we head to I-drive for some tea.

We decide on Pizza hut. We have followed Rob and Sheila, and on turning left into the car park, Rob manages to drive down the wrong side of the road with a car coming towards him! Being in the car behind we found this to be very funny :rotfl: Its busy but we get seated straight away and order a medium pizza each. We are all so tired by the time the food comes, we manage half of the pizzas each and leave the rest. we just want to get to bed. When we leave pizza hut its raining heavy and as Rob and Martyn are not comfortable with the driving - its a tense journey back. By now we are so tired. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow as its Magic Kingdom and we plan to stay all day till the fireworks. We are in bed by ten and watch a bit of the weather as there are reports about tropical storm Arlene. It looks like we will get a lot of rain tomorrow due to Arlene. A very wet exciting day ahead. Lights off and we fall asleep.

Day 2 coming soon

Great start Shell, funny how quick kids move the morning you go to Disney isn't it? Glad you liked the ASMo as I'm staying there for the first time in Nov, can't wait to read the rest :flower:

Great trip report, makes me even more excited for my trip!

Hurray! Another trippie! You're very brave to venture out the evening you arrive - by the time we got to the hotel we just bought box lunches (as americans call a prepacked sandwich!) and ate in the room. Mind you, Christian (DS5) had fallen asleep in the car and stayed asleep all through check-in and right til we started carrying him to the room (in spite of being moved out of the car to buggy and back again!) :rotfl:

Ready for part 2 now (HINT!)

Thanks for a brilliant trip report - sounds like you had a good day even though you were travelling.

Looking forward to the next instalment.
