Does anyone have and use the Shell Saver Card? I just picked up a flyer about it when I filled up the car. It apparently works like a debit card to your checking account and it says that you will save 5 cents a gallon now thru 12/31 and then 2 cents a gallon. (which would really add up after awhile!)

If you are using one, have you had any problems with it? Does the discount show at the pump or is it a lessor amount when taken from your checking account? Or is it "money back", as in they deposit X$ in your account each month to give you the 5 cents per gallon purchased?

I went to the website but didn't find the answers to my questions.

TIA

Not sure about Shell, but similar programs are already in place at regional chains like QuikTrip, MotoMart, and ARCO.

Normally, the discount happens in real time, at the pump, which is a good thing.

For those of you fueling-up at states under "Loss Leader Laws" (namely, N.J.), I wouldn't expect this program to turn-up at your stations/c-stores, anytime soon.

Something to remember is that Shell is usually more expensive so are you really getting a discount?

That's what I was thinking - I have to be driving on fumes before I fill up at Shell! Definitely more than 5 cents over other stations.

We have a new Shell station down the road from us (we live in a rural area) and very convenient to fill up on the way home. We have 3 places to fill up between my house and my work, all three have the same price. So, either everyone here is higher:laughing: or they are staying comparable.

You might be lucky then, or they may have lower prices because it's a new station. I know that I drive past 3 or 4 Shell's on my way home from work and every one of them is higher priced then the 7-11, the Bonfare, the ARCO or even the Valero plant/station across the street from where I work. I'm talking at least 10 cents a gallon more, sometimes 15 or 20 cents more.....definitely not worth it when you're filling up a mini van. :)
