She said it wouldn't be boring!-WONDER WB Caribbean cruise - Bonus Posts Wrap up

If I ever get to Palo, I am trying the strawberry soup. :thumbsup2 Lunch looks heavenly and I am glad you had such a nice time.

I love love love the Halloween pictures and Fran's are AWESOME! Hoe much fun is that. Happy puppy, sad puppy, what a riot.

Funny about the time travel, classic Disney. Right up there with a Halloween party in September if you ask me!

MMMMMNNNN Palo Brunch. So many yummies.

I miss it.

And now have a craving for seared Ahi after reading this update!

What a lovely start to your day.

WOW! The Palo Brunch is FANTASTIC. Desserts look great and I'm salivating right now. Wish I could taste some of it.

I think I would eat, (not) cruise, and then eat some more. :thumbsup2

How lovely to get Hristo as your server. I think you're definitely going to remember his name now.

I’m looking forward to doing it again! Only four more months!

Love the pictures of the buffet! It seems that there were quite a lot of different desserts from my two visits to Palo Brunch on the Wonder. Seems like they updated the selections!

Seems like the host made a good choice in assigning you to Hristo! :thumbsup2

I hope the two of you feel better soon!

There were a lot of different things from my last Palo brunch. I think they like to change it up often. I hope we feel better soon too. This being sick is just not fun.

I am counting on TWO Palo branches on my PC Repo. And some evil friends have lured me into a four day on the Dream in November. So three trips to Palo in the next 14 months. Le SIGH!!!!

Lucky you! How fun! We’re skipping Palo on the Dream next trip for Remy. We’ve never been there and with only four nights and only one sea day, we had to make a tough decision. I will be back on the Wonder a month later and will probably do Palo on both of my sea days!

I'm drooling over all the goodies at Palo. I have to wait another year before we can partake.

I’m so glad we have a ton of cruises booked this year!

Oh Palo brunch droollll... Actually Palo anything! The Brunch looks wonderful and how nice to get your server making the experience even more special. Those pastries are fabulous. Any stolen bread? My word it's the best I ever tried. and that sticky sauce under the cloche that has some kind of bun in it. Out of this world. The pizza looks good! Lovely photo of you all.

What did Fran decide about the med?

I’m not sure what stolen bread is, so I don’t know if they had it. We saw Fran’s Doctor today and he gave her another round of antibiotics. Hopefully that will knock out the sickness. She is to come back in two weeks, and I guess they’ll decide what to do then. She wants to get in on a drug study that is coming up in March, but that’s a long time to wait with no drugs.

Awww me too, I hope she feels better soon.

We’ll have to see how things go. Maybe by our next trip.

Oh the brunch looks amazing. So much to choose from. I would have been stuffed.

There is just so much to choose from. We always eat so much!

So... Did Fran like the Strawberry soup??? :lmao:

That is certainly quite the spread. I'd have to be rolled out of there. :rotfl2: I'm glad you had a nice brunch, and that's neat that you got to have Hristo as your server, and that he remembered you!

Yes. Yes, she did like the strawberry soup! It’s such an incredible spread, the only one we know of that can even compete is the Queen Mary here in Long Beach. I will definitely remember his name for our cruises in May and October.

Holy cow...I could go for Palo brunch right now! I'm drooling! Was there any strawberry soup left for anyone else? ;)

Jill in CO

:rotfl2: I’m sure they make that stuff by the gallon. There was plenty left!

Holy food pictures Batman! These meals look like quite the decadent spread! Lots that looks really tasty, and also a lot that looks like stuff I would never eat. :rotfl2:

I gotta say, the dalmatian pictures are hysterical. Nice work! :rotfl:

I’m sure though that you and Julie could go there and find plenty!

The expressions and pictures were all Fran, she actually told me that she wanted to do those pictures solo, it was all her doing. She was so happy and feeling good that night. It actually pains me writing the update that I’m working on which is a day ahead of what I’m posting. She went from so happy to so miserable (and has remained there since) in just a day.

The food at the Palo Brunch looks so amazing and good to eat.

Thanks Bret! It was!

Alison, I absolutely LOVED your pics! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Palo and it was so fun revisiting it through your photos. I reminisced about it through your food porn with DH! We can't get enough of the seafood and I can't help but get seconds with dessert! YUMMMMMMYYYY! :cloud9:

There is so much of everything on that brunch that you can’t help but get full and enjoy every minute of it!

Woo Hoo - finally caught up again!

I love the Halloween Costumes!!!! And all the Palo pictures...yum :goodvibes

Chocoloate Tequila...interesting. I like the idea off it being over ice cream ::yes::

I have been holding off thinking too much about our upcoming cruise but I guess now that we are in the same year (2015), I can start getting excited about being back on the Wonder again :thumbsup2

I think you go the week before we do on the Mexican Riviera revisted cruises. That one is going to be so fun since we are going with rentayenta, her family and Pincokto!

Loving your TR pixiedust:. Thanks for sharing you and your wife's adventures with us :drive:

:welcome:

I’m glad you are enjoying the TR!

If I ever get to Palo, I am trying the strawberry soup. :thumbsup2 Lunch looks heavenly and I am glad you had such a nice time.

You really need to! It's a great and refreshing dish. Hmmmm, you just gave me an idea!

I love love love the Halloween pictures and Fran's are AWESOME! Hoe much fun is that. Happy puppy, sad puppy, what a riot.

MMMMMNNNN Palo Brunch. So many yummies.

I miss it.

And now have a craving for seared Ahi after reading this update!

What a lovely start to your day.

What was funny about the puppy pictures is that Fran really wanted to take the solo pictures, also with the characters. I didn't post all the photos we took. It was almost like when Alicia's husband took the drunk Photopass Photos at DHS, except Fran did all that without drinking!

Yeah, I shouldn't have doubted folks would do what Disney said. Heck they could probably hold a Halloween party in May and people would dress up.

I'm going to miss Palo brunch on my next cruise, but hopefully Remy will make up for it.

Some Ahi does sound good right now. :scratchin

Chocolate & Tequila

No we didn’t open the bottle.

I had rushed off to the Cadillac Lounge to reserve us some seats for the next activity which was a Chocolate and alcohol pairing.

This time was a little different than the last one. First off the chocolate was melted and not the little hard pieces that you see on the plates in the edge of the picture above.

With the white chocolate, they paired it with this Tattinger Champagne.

The Dark Chocolate was paired with a blended red wine from Lasseter Vineyards.

The Milk Chocolate was paired with Scotch. I can’t remember the name and the bottle is really hard to read.

And this was kind of a rip off, but the last chunk was Parmesan Cheese which was paired with Port. Not that I don’t like Parmesan Cheese, but I wanted chocolate!

They had the bottles on display on the bar with the chocolate that they were paired with.

After the tasting, we had an hour to kill. I can’t remember why Fran wanted to go back to the room, I think she wanted to change out of her fancy clothes. I, on the other hand, wanted to get my picture taken with Peter Pan!

Tiana wasn’t supposed to be out for another hour or so, but she made a quick appearance on the balcony.

Fran wanted to get her picture taken with Daisy, so while I was getting pictures with Peter, she got in line for Daisy. The line moved really slowly and I even had time to go into the nearby restroom and change out of the dress I wore to Palo into a more comfortable dress that she brought for me.

Then we headed back to the Cadillac Lounge for the Tequila Tasting. The first was a Silver Tequila, the second was a Reposado, the third was a Coffee flavored Patron Liquor.

It always cracks me up at how many folks sign up for this without realizing that, yes people you are going to be drinking straight Tequila shots! There were quite a few empty tables, and Fran and I were near them. She was figuring that we were going to get some extra samples. But then this idiot comes in at the last moment, sits down and just reaches over and starts doing all the extra shots, before the “teacher” has even told us to.

Then it came time for the class participation, so I jumped up to volunteer, and so did the idiot guy. He hadn’t drank all the drinks at the empty tables, so Fran did go and snag up what was left. Then it was my turn to make a drink.

Notice two things in this picture, the idiot in the red shirt behind me, who is biding his time. Secondly notice the bottle of Coffee Patron on the table next to my hip. That bottle costs about $75 if you can find it at Costco, see how full it is? That’s gonna change really quickly.

After I returned to my seat, we enjoyed our drinks and spent the time chatting with the folks sitting near us. The idiot dude was evidently a bartender or fancied himself as one. He waited until the end to make his drink. All he wanted to do was show off for the crowd and he started making these drinks that he was talking about called “Baby Guiness”. He made at least six shots in addition to like two other drinks. That bottle of Patron Coffee Liqueur. Gone. That will teach the bartender leading the tasting to bring out an almost full bottle of the good stuff!

The Tequila Tasting sort of broke up in a random fashion with all the drinking and carousing up at the drink making table, people just sort of left when they had had enough of the idiot showing off.

We took off so that we could meet a certain little alien.

And then we headed up top for another DOTD. I’m not sure if I mentioned that we had been handing out chocolate to the various CMs. All week we had been doing it. We gave them to the character handlers, the servers, the bartenders, our room steward, anyone that we interacted with. I think we got these drinks from the Family pool bar, we had purchased drinks here earlier in the week, and when we gave him more chocolates, he was very thankful. He told us that he shared them with his girlfriend. I was so amazed because the chocolates we had been handing out were just small pieces, one or two bites. Almost every one of the CMs that we gave candy, told us that they shared it with someone. So nice and generous are these folks!

Up next: Last night on the ship! Boo!

Your trip report is wonderful and fun. I love your casual pink dress! I'm adding chocolate tequila to my list of things to try.

Love the bartender in that gorgeous pink dress mixing drinks! ;)
I'll just ignore the one in red.

You've got me envious with the pictures of Peter Pan. He's still on my hit list.
Great character shots!

I have got to do the chocolate tasting some of these days!

What an idiot at the tequila tasting! I hate those kind of people. Ugh.

Cute pics with Daisy and Peter Pan!

Jill in CO

You could have fun with me, I'd want the chocolate and someone else could drink the shots for me. :rotfl:

Love all your pictures!

The first tasting looks phenomenal. Chocolate is always good.

Self admiring idiots are the worst kind!!!! Oh well, at least you got to have some good tequila.

Your drinks of the day always look delicious. I think your efforts to try to have one everyday are well worthwhile.

Really enjoyed this post. There is always one Tom Cruise in Cocktail in the party! Or thinks they are..

Love the photos. Stitch one is great. How nice of you to share your chocolate with CMs. What a lovely thought :-)

Oh no! I didn't realize she had started feeling so bad while you guys were still on the trip. So you haven't found any new meds that help?

The Milk Chocolate was paired with Scotch. I can’t remember the name and the bottle is really hard to read.

Looks like Glenmorangie?

And this was kind of a rip off, but the last chunk was Parmesan Cheese which was paired with Port. Not that I don’t like Parmesan Cheese, but I wanted chocolate!

Never, ever get between a woman and her chocolate. :rotfl2:

I, on the other hand, wanted to get my picture taken with Peter Pan!

And you made the most of it!

But then this idiot comes in at the last moment, sits down and just reaches over and starts doing all the extra shots, before the “teacher” has even told us to.

We'll call him "Captain Entitlement".

Secondly notice the bottle of Coffee Patron on the table next to my hip. That bottle costs about $75 if you can find it at Costco, see how full it is?

$75? Does it come with a TV in it?

The idiot dude was evidently a bartender or fancied himself as one. He waited until the end to make his drink. All he wanted to do was show off for the crowd and he started making these drinks that he was talking about called “Baby Guiness”. He made at least six shots in addition to like two other drinks. That bottle of Patron Coffee Liqueur. Gone. That will teach the bartender leading the tasting to bring out an almost full bottle of the good stuff!

:sad2: Just go away, dude. Nobody cares.

I’m not sure if I mentioned that we had been handing out chocolate to the various CMs. All week we had been doing it. We gave them to the character handlers, the servers, the bartenders, our room steward, anyone that we interacted with.

That's a great idea! Sounds like it went over really well.

I can't wait to join DH for the next cruise...want to try one of the tastings. He usually does 2 per cruise. That guy was such a doofus!!! I kept wondering if he was just late or if he wasn't registered for the class.

LOVE you Stitch photos...that was one of our favorut s the last cruise. I did the hang loose w/LILO & Stitch and we used it as part of our Xmas photo last year!!! We love them!

I loved your idea to spread little tidbits of chocolate goodness. I think I'll steal that idea for the next cruise.

BTW, I had to cancel our B2B next May on Wonder...I need surgery in March. Made the call yesterday w/my travel agent yesterday. :(

Can't wait for next update!

Loved the dalmatian costume wow !!
Your TR is making me so want to be back on a disney boat
Love your DCL donney bag by any chance remember how much it was
Thanks

Another nice day on the DCL. The chocolate and alcohol pairing sounds interesting to do on the ship. Very nice pics of the PP and Tiana.

Sorry to hear that you are both still under the weather! I hope you get to feel better soon!

I think this was the first time I saw a review of the Tequila tasting! This has always intrigued me, but Michael is not interested in shots. However, my sister is (she has several food intolerances and somehow mixed drinks are often not good for her, straight alcohol is no problem :lmao:). So, maybe we need to think about the Tequila tasting on our upcoming Norway cruise! I just hope that we won't have Mr Attention Seeker with us on that cruise!!! :crazy2:

I have to say that in my experience on three cruises I have seen far less "misbehaving" people than in the parks. Maybe people are generally more relaxed on a cruise and feel less flustered and stressed out by trying to have the best time ever?

I think you go the week before we do on the Mexican Riviera revisted cruises. That one is going to be so fun since we are going with rentayenta, her family and Pincokto!

Yep, I can't wait to be back on "my Wonder" again (and to go back to Cabo) ;) :goodvibes

We are going with a big group of friends too (3 of the 4 couples are celebrating our 20th anniversaries this year).
Oh, I wonder if I can talk them into the Chocolate tasting. My Mom and I did that on our Alaska cruise and I really enjoyed it. :thumbsup2
We may have to try the Tequila one also.

All caught up again.

I love your costumes. What a bargain you got on yours and Fran is a darling Dalmatian. You both look like pictures of health and are having the time of your life. I am so glad you two had such a great time.

I know you and Fran aren't feeling so good right now. I hope you turn the corner soon.

Can't wait for more!!

An idea? Do share. :hyper:

I couldn't do a tequila tasting. Too many shots in my younger years. ;) The chocolate pairing looks interesting though. Michael would love that. :thumbsup2

The DOTD High Tide is going on my list for the weekend. :cloud9:

That guy was a show off! I'm sure the class bartender did learn his lesson! The group cruise you ladies are all planning sounds awesome, every tasting better watch out! :dance3: Hope you gals feel better soon!
