I just got an idea. Chernabog will have to do most of it, but it may work!
This will entail some research, but can be done.
1) first, you will need to find a competitior of Latham Auto Sales. Maybe a similiar size or even smaller size dealers.
2) Find out who the president and sales manager of competition is.
3) Then, call to make an appointment.
4) In said appointment, tell the individual about Darlene and the Geo. Then you can state to them, that you KNOW that other dealters have similiar or better cars on their lot that are not going!
My BIL is in the car business. After 78,000 miles most dealerships can no longer protect the warranty in a good fashion. If you can find a car, newer, within that mileage, you should be set.
5) You can state that you would be willing to have Darlene do some promotional spots -in exchange for another (hopefully better car). Set parameters, like maybe have her wear a hat/T-shirt in the car for starters. Then have the competiting dealer entice her out of the car for another car.
Negiotiate 2-3 personal appearances in the next month for the competing dealer. Negiotiate possibly a print ad as well. Make it a short stint because if you don't they will linger on if they are interested.
State that Darlene would be more than willing to sing praises of this new dealer. I know she would be so grateful.
In this deal, you may have to pay sales tax on the car, but it could be done.
