Cast:

Me: Trip planner, age unimportant, 2nd trip to WDW
Mimi – My mom, 62, 1st trip to WDW
Maddie – my niece, 12, 1st trip to WDW
Lauren – my daughter, 11, 2nd trip to WDW

Special appearances by coworker Julie and her family (DH Bob, DS Tyler-15, and DD Josie-6)

Lauren and I took our 1st trip to WDW last year and fell in love with the place so we decided to return and bring some extras!

Mimi and Maddie flew into Dallas on Friday because we had a 6:20 a.m. flight on Saturday morning. I don’t know why I book such early flights. It’s an illness. The alarm went off at 3:30 and I showered and then woke up the rest of the gang at 4:00. I made the girls sleep in the clothes they were going to wear so we were out of the house by 4:15. After parking at an offsite lot and grabbing the shuttle, we were at the airport by 5:00 a.m. Our flight took off on time (as 6:20 a.m. flights usually do) and we had a smooth flight to Orlando. We watched “Raise your voice” with Hillary Duff and that made the 2½ hour flight pass quickly.

After landing we waited a long time for our luggage and made our way to National’s Emerald Aisle. I had told Lauren that occasionally there are some PT Cruisers on the aisle but not to expect one. What do you know? There’s a nice shiny white one just waiting for us! Woohoo! Let the magic begin!

We followed the signs to WDW and made it to Caribbean Beach Resort in about minutes at about 10:30 a.m. Magical moment ahead! Our room was ready!! Room 3121 in Trinidad North. Great location. It was a short walk to food court and pools. Unfortunately this also meant it was a short walk to the gift shop, which my room charge card had a magnetic pull to. I know they set them up that way. They can’t fool me! We were on the first floor and right outside the door was a little courtyard where we gathered often with Julie and family to recap and plan.

After lugging the luggage into the room we headed to Epcot so Mimi could enjoy the last days of the Flower and Garden Show. We arrived around 12:30 and actually parked pretty close. We headed over to the Land and got FPs for Soarin’ that had a return time of 2:30. Since we were in that neck of the woods we took a ride on Journey into the Imagination with Figment, henceforth known as Figment. We all enjoyed the ride and I loved the look on Mimi’s face when the skunk sprayed us. We enjoyed the area that you enter into after the ride until a really bad thing happened. We were standing in line to get our picture taken in a WDW scene and I dropped my camera. Waaa! The batteries flew out, the digital card flew out, and part of the case came apart. I was shaking so hard that I couldn’t get it all together. A nice man in line ahead of us took it from me and put it together but it wouldn’t work. I had to step away for a minute to calm myself down. I decided to give it one more try and turned the button to movie mode and then off and then back to the regular photo mode. It started working again!! The people around me started clapping as I shed a few tears of relief.

After the drama it was time for a Mickey bar! I bought my Mickey bar from Hong who is from Hong Kong. He is here training to work in the Hong Kong Disneyland and will be heading home by then end of June. He was a very nice CM.

Then we strolled around looking at flower and topiaries and taking pictures with my wonderful camera. We made our way to UK and took Maddie’s picture by the Pooh topiary and then headed to the back so the girls could try out the maze. While Mimi and I were waiting we saw Mary Poppins going into the toy store. I said “Hi Mary” and she changed direction and came right over. I took pictures of the girls with her and we chatted a bit. I felt like we were talking to the first Mary! She was really good.

We had World Showcase planned for another day so we headed back to Future World. On the way we saw Jiminy Cricket and stopped and had pictures taken with him. The girls decided it was time for autograph books so we stopped and bought them each a golden anniversary one. We walked around to the queue of Spaceship Earth and there was no line so we hopped on. Mimi really liked this ride. It is just her speed.

Then we headed back over to the Land because it was getting close to Soarin’ time. The line for Living with the Land was only 10 minutes so we hopped on that. It was the first time I had ridden it and Mimi really enjoyed it because she is one of those gardening people. You know who you are! Finally it was time for Soarin’. Wow! What can I say about this ride? It took my breath away. The scents and sensations were incredible. This is now my favorite WDW ride

After Soarin’ we were starting to hit the wall since we had been up for so long so we hopped a tram to the car and drove back to CBR. The girls went to the quiet pool and Mimi and I just relaxed. I called my coworker Julie who was driving from Dallas with her family to let her know what room and building we were in. She said that they planned to be at WDW around 2:00 on Sunday.

We had a PS at 50’s Prime Time for 7:30 so we headed over to MGM around 5:30. Magical moment ahead! When we pulled into the parking lot, a CM moved a cone and guided us to a reserved parking place right in the front row! Woohoo!! We still had some time to wait so we looked around a bit and the line for the Great Movie Ride was only 15 min. so we decided to ride it and enjoyed it as much as we did last year. We decided to check in early for PT and got seated after about 5 minutes. Our “Cousin” was okay but not as much fun as the one we had last year. Magical moment ahead! The daughter of the family next to us decided she didn’t want dessert so they offered it to us since they were on the dining plan so we got a free S’more for dessert!! Woohoo! It was so good!!

Now we had our tummies full so we were really tired and took the short walk back to the car and headed home. We stopped and bought our mugs and shopped in the gift shop and headed for our room. I think we were all asleep by 9:30 that night.

Coming next….magic moment at Animal Kingdom!

They had fun doing that. I just pointed out the hats and they came up with the action. It made WS fun for two pre-teens.

sounds like you guys had a great start to your vacation :)

Great start to the trip! It was nice to meet you in Epcot :) Hope the rest of your trip was magical!

It was great to meet you, too! Sorry I omitted our meeting in Day 1's report! I even had it in my notes and went right past it. I put it at the beginning of Day 2! :goodvibes

We were there at the same time! Your photos are beautiful, great job! What kind of camera do you have? We are looking for a new one and yours takes great pics!

Can't wait to read more of your report, though I am getting quite homesick. :(

Thanks! IT is a Kodak EAsyShare CX7530 5.0 megapixels. I really enjoy using it. It is just a point and shoot but I like the quality of the photos. I had it on the hightest setting at WDW. I used a 1mb card and could take almost 800 pictures.

Really enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.
