So I have never broken a bone before in my life (45 yrs). I have been out of work for 6 weeks with another 6 to go that I know of so far. My question is this. I have a plate and 6 screws in my wrist now. What limitations will I have at Disney next year? Can I still ride all the rides? Will I go off at every metal detector?

Yes, you can ride anything you want to - Disney doesn't have any super-crazy rides, plus you have use of the hand and arm with plates and screws. Not sure about metal detectors (and you only go through them once at each park each day) with a plate. I know the screws in my daughter's hand do not cause any issues.

WDW isn't going to limit you. The only limitation I can think would be if you feel incapable of grasping a bar/restraint tight enough to brace yourself on rides, to the point that you don't feel comfortable. You can explain at security that you have a plate and screws and they'll use a wand; no problem.

Enjoy your vacation!

or just go thought the meter detectors and if it dose go off just tell them you have screws and a plate in your wrist. They can then wand you. The meter detectors at Disney might not be set strong enough for them to go off and even thought it really dose not take that much longer to get wand, it do sometimes take longer.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I was worried about not having fun. The only one I will be scared of and won't do is the new Avatar ride since it was an exercise bike that I fell off of to shatter my wrist.

There is no way to fall off this ride and you would be fine to ride it if you feel like it.

Do you happen to know if the plates/screws are titanium? If so they will likely not set off the metal detectors at all! I have 4 plates/8 screws in my neck and haven't set off metal detectors at airports or Disney.

To support what's already been said, the Pandora ride, "Flight of Passage" has restraints that hold you onto/into the chair that might feel like an exercise bike. But perhaps having the restraints there will help your mind understand that you're safe, and it's not the same as before? I hope so. Have a great vacation.

I think that is what my kids were told that it is titanium. So I guess I am good with the metal detectors.

Yea I think I will still skip it lol. I am never going on an exercise bike again. I will stick to the treadmill and elliptical when I get my endurance for that back up.
