Sharpton Doens't Like this!

While I don't think it's *supposed* to be about race, as a political cartoonist, the artist should have known it could be interpreted as such.

I think it's in poor taste no matter what it's really about. The violence of the image bothers me a lot.

No matter how you twist it, the cartoon is inappropriate.

No matter how appropriate anything Al Sharpton says is, he's still an idiot.

No matter how politically correct or incorrect anything is, it's still politics.

No matter how you look at politics, it's difficult to find anything worth liking.

Everything will be better when I'm King!

:scared: So sick of this tip toeing around how other people may interpret things.

My gosh, you'd be sitting around with nothing to draw:rotfl: Anyone can be offended by anything.

Thats the problem. Maybe everyone should quit trying to interpete everything as offensive to them and stop and think what the realy intention is.

Sharpton needs a new hobby other than running around trying to find something to be offended by.

It is now resolved that during the current presidential term there shall be no references to monkeys, apes, gorillas or primates of any kind. The term "references" shall include, but shall not be limited to words (oral or written), photographs, sketches, drawings, images and films. Any person or organization that wishes to make such references shall first apply to the United States Department of Polictical Correctness, Division of the Protection for Offended Persons, for the appropriate permit. Permits shall only be issued in accordance with regulation.

I think I will send this to Congress so that they can get a head start.

Here's what offends me about that cartoon:mad:

It's really weak and doesn't convey an effective satirical or ironic comment on anything.

Sheesh, that's the best the NY Post can do? The cartoonist missed whatever the mark was supposed to be by a lonnnnngggg shot.

I don't think it was about race, but I DO think it was pretty careless on the cartoonist's part. The connection to racism would have been made even if Sharpton had not spoken out about it.

Alright, I'm confused... I didn't think the executive branch wrote bills.

The way I see the cartoon is that Congress is being compared to a rampaging chimp.

Buuuut, thanks Rev Sharpton for so predictably making it about race.

Sharpton is a stupid idiot. How many times have other political figures been referred to in much the same way. I'm so sick and tired of the race card that I could puke.

And I thought the election results would put a halt to Sharpton's primary source of income. I was wrong.

I'm sorry but you can't use the word primary. Clearly that has the same route word as primate so that must be considered a racial slur on your part :lmao:

I don't think it was meant to be racist, but I do think the cartoonist was an absolute idiot if he didn't realize that it could be viewed as racist. Any way you look at it, this was classless, careless, and tasteless.

The nice thing about opinions is that we all have one, huh?

Then what was this about,

Or this....

Look, I don't know if this was about Obama. It could not be, but don't act as if this wasn't questionable. The mere fact that whatever satire of that picture - it's questionable, in poor taste, or we all don't get it. It's not appropriate. Had they had several monkeys (one in a dress) I would have thought they were referring to Dem congress - I would get that – maybe not like it, but we’d get it? This was in extremely poor taste. Why refer to "they" in the picture, but ONLY show ONE monkey? That seems racist to me.

They (NYT) were tying two news stories together. The stimulus and ONE monkey being shot.

Now onto the pictures; were those published by the NYT? If not, they aren't relevant to this discussion. The pictures posted above are racist. The cartoon, nope.

Everything is not meant to be racist. Stop reading way too into things.
