How have the servers been about splitting/sharing meals at TS? We are paying for DDP and at some of the non-buffet TS we really want to share. Not all of us would share, but gosh, for some of us girls it is the thing to do:) .

From the sticky "everything you wanted to know about the dining plan" at the top of this forum -

Can I share meals on the Dining Plan?
Sharing is never permitted at buffet or prix fixe meals. Beyond that, this is actually two separate questions, addressed below...

Can I share meals with guests not on the Dining Plan?
No. The Dining Plan cannot be shared with guests who aren't registered as part of your hotel reservation.

Can I share meals with other guests on the Dining Plan staying on the same hotel reservation?
There is no clear answer to this. Consistently, guests seem to be allowed to share the meals ordered on the Dining Plan amongst the guests at their table, with the exception of fixed price meals, such as buffets or other all-you-can-eat options. However, this question was been asked directly to Disney via email, by a number of guests, and consistently, they have answered this question by saying specifically that, "sharing is not permitted." Despite several attempts to get clarification about that statement, no clarification appears to be forthcoming from Guest Communications, and nothing official has been released by Disney Dining to resolve the confusion.

Clear as mud.

What about when you are not on the dining plan? There are times when we go out to dinner that I will share my meal with my 9yr old daughter. Anyone had any problems with that at the TS restaurants (non-buffet)?

We were both on the dining plan & shared table service & counter service all the time and never had a problem. In fact when we asked the server they said yes, and even split the meal in the kitchen & brought it out on seperate plates. (totally was not expecting that!) Also, we did double their trip since they still did about the same amount of work. ;)

As you know you cannot share at Buffets & all you can eat places regardless if you are or are not on the dining plan.

My husband and i shared the club at the Plaza this month, we where on the dining plan, and they brought it out on two plates, they split the sandwich and frys. They didnt think nothing of it, and neither did i asking. We just wherent that hungry. Now that I think about it the day we left we split lunch at kona too. I think they brought us to plates, but I cant remember.

While on the DDP we shared many times. No problems.

Not on the DDP, we shared many times. No problems.

Don't worry about it; ask your waiter if you're uncertain but I doubt you'll have even a raised eyebrow.

ETA: Our meals were always split in the kitchen, too, which was nice and unexpected but every single restaurant did that for us =)

That's not a problem at all. In fact, I never knew this could be a problem on the dining plan (because I never use it) until this thread.

But - a caution on sharing meals with your 9 year old daughter. Disney is great with sharing meals. So great as a matter of fact, that they very well could give you each a full portion of the side dish. That's happened with us. Split a burger at Sci-Fi and each get all the fries on the unsplit meal. Ask for three spoons with the cheddar cheese soup at LeCellier and get three 3/4 full bowls of the soup (and only get charged for one).

Sometimes I don't think any Disney chef likes a non signature meal going out of the kitchen with any plate left showing!
