Sharing TS meals on the DDP

We are going to WDW this fall and are planning to get the regular dining plan. I have two children, an eleven yo Disney "adult" and a 7 yo child. Since the 7 yo is such a light eater, I was wondering if I might be allowed to share some TS meals with him and thus save a dining credit. I know this would not work at a buffet or AYCE restaurant, but would we be allowed to do it at a standard order off the menu place like 50s Prime Time or Coral Reef?

At most TS restaurants you will be able to share with your son. You'll have to ask at each restaurant because occasionally someone will post that a server/restaurant didn't allow it, but I've never heard anyone have a problem with this at '50s or Coral Reef. The only TS that consistently won't allow you to use one credit to feed 2 people is Via Napoli.

If you are planning to use your adult credit for sharing, you will be left with extra children's TS credits that can only be used for kid's meals. If you are planning to share a kid's meal with your son, many of them are small and might not be enough for the 2 of you. If your 11 is not a big eater you might think about sharing a meal with her and ordering a child's meal for your son.

As you said, everyone will have to use a credit at buffets, family style all you care to eat venues, CRT, Akershus, the 3 dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), Fantasmic! Dining Package, and the platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

If I am on the dining plan but my sister isnt, can she share TS meals with me?

No, you can't use your dining plan to provide meals for someone who isn't on your dining plan.

Best option right there IMO, that extra adult credit could then be used later to afford you a signature meal or even another sit-down meal.

To go along with this, let's say in one restaurant I do share with my son (we're all "adults" so the kid's thing doesn't come into play). That means I now have just 1 extra TS credit. Can the four of us, all on the DP, go to a TS restaurant and order 4 meals, paying for 3 OOP and 1 with a TS credit? I didn't know if you can "split" checks in one party like that or not.
