Sharing the Wealth

nice thread :sunny:

& i like the recurring thought that while being the recipient of **magic** of great, the best memories are created when you are the "giver".
(yup, the way i live my life & teach my children)

Everytime we go to The World, we always stop at WM on the way to the hotel. I always seem to over stock on the extas. So, the night before we are to ck. out. I always find a family to give our extas to. On our last trip I aproached an older man that was checking into his room next door. I explained that we were cking out the next day and had alot of extra food and supplies that were didn't want., and asked if he would like them. He said no thank you. I was a bit surprized :confused3 , but, said ok and went back in the room. A couple of seconds later, the wife came over and asked "if we still had the free stuff". She said there was going to be 15 of them, including 8 children and no cars. She said she told her husband to never refuse free stuff. :rotfl: They got unopened bottles of wine, beer, cases of bottled water, juice boxes, poptarts, micro popcorn, cooler, and laundry soap. They offered us money for everything. Of course we refused, but, asked that they pass whatever was left to someone else.

I was chaperoning a group of cheerleaders in March (including two of my dds). We had four day convention tickets and with our cheer schedule actually only got in the parks twice. The group of girls decided they would keep their hoppers to scrapbook (these hoppers have expiration dates). After talking to them about random acts of kindness (not legal to give away convention tickets I know) they decided to make disney more special for someone else. They all went over to Animal Kingdom and gave their hoppers away outside of the park. It was quite a spectacle and the girls still talk about it as a highlight of their trip.

Before we did this, guest services was kind enough to photocopy the passes for the girls to scrapbook.

That's a nice story - how many girls were there? Did they all give up their tickets?

The quickest and best way to get over depression or whatever is to think of someone else. Is cheaper than a prescription as well.

I have several older folks who call me daily to complain of being lonely but when I suggest that they call each other to talk and get to know someone they refuse. Very frustrating but more sad. Seems like a simple solution to me.

What a wonderful thing to teach your young cheerleaders. That is a lesson that will stand them in good stead throughout life.
