Posted this in another area but figured it would be better here......

Here is something new we encountered this past weekend that I almost forgot about. We were staying at a nice resort right near the parks. They were charging a ridiculous fee for a shuttle to the park (round trip per person $25). We had my wife's SUV which seats 8 but there was only 3 of us with a baby. A couple approached us in the lobby in the morning and asked if we were going to the parks which we said yes. They said they cannot afford the shuttle service and if they can catch a ride with us (no idea how they would get back to the resort). I felt bad since I know it was expensive so I said sure. I told them I would meet them in the lobby in 15 min. I went out to the truck to take a few things out so I can open the 3rd row. Went back to the lobby where I saw the couple with 4 kids. I said I have only room for 2. They said it's OK for the kids to sit on each others laps which I said no thanks (God forbid I am in an accident and one of them is hurt). Dad gets all bent out of shape and mad. I told him to call uber if they need a ride. He yells at me and says "Thanks for nothing A**H***"." I wave and say have a great time and leave (not going to argue with someone in front of kids). Has anyone ever encountered this

No, I have never encountered anything like that. I would never give someone a ride under those circumstances including their first request.

Guess they shouldn't have booked that nice resort if they couldn't afford what it cost to stay there.

Agree I would have said no, but very glad you refused once you saw their baggage.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet even if they had fit.

Sadly I bet it happens all the time.

No, we have never encountered it, nor would I have agreed to giving them a ride. You didn't know who they were and they didn't know you. What an odd request and a potential risk to your family and his. Very, very odd. Plus, who books a resort and doesn't look into its transportation options? Just very odd all around.

Oh hell no. I wouldn't give them a ride, not without seatbelts or carseats as required by law. To be honest, I'd be very wary of it even if it was the right number of people.

It's not your fault they didn't plan accordingly for getting their family to the park.

That is what I was thinking. They should have known about that but sometimes people tend to overlook that I guess.

Wow. I don't think I would have agreed to take them in the first place. However, I definitely would not have allowed kids to sit on laps. No way.

We actually looked into UBER for Epcot since we like drinking around the world and it would have been $25 each way.

Not a chance I would ever agree to something like that in the first place. Maybe the OP is just nicer than I am, or maybe I'm just really cynical, but I'm not risking putting my family in potential danger by offering a ride to a complete stranger, not way. It's the same reason I would never pick up a hitchhiker.

And I'm sorry, if you're vacationing at Disney and can't afford the shuttle, then you need to either reconsider your vacation choice or do a better job of planning so you budget correctly.
